Hey Taylor, very nice job talking us through each of the trails and features and what we can expect once it opens. This place is gonna be super fun!
Thanks Milton, we are pretty excited for opening later this fall.
Great to know that CA has a new bike park. Awesome!
We are super excited for it!
Should be getting another one at Mountain High resort by next summer, hopefully! Chairlift access, presumably.
Looks like a beautiful park!
Great views, great trails, can't ask for much more!
Added to the bucket list 🔥👌🏽
Nice, we approve 🤘🏼
Looks like it will be awesome!
I think so too! We can't wait!
Nice to have that in my backyard looking forward to riding it with some buddies.
We are stoked for our SD buddies! 🤘🏼
No ruts or overgrowth very nice fast flow trails, gonna be popular during winter for the warmer climate. Thanks for showing us😎🤜🏼🤛🏼
No problem 👍 Thank you for watching!
Gonna ride this and camp tomorrow! Thanks for sharing!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@destinationMTB Bummer hurricane hilary the failure part 2! lol...they had to close the trails and campground!. We will be back to get the full experience soon though. We packed up and went to Greer trails in Murrieta before the wind or rain.
Great video, nice bike park, I can’t wait to go there, thanks
It is going to be awesome!
so sick can't wait to rip it!
We can't wait for opening day in September. 🤘🏼
Great vid 🤘
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Love those types of trails, a bit more "natural" than groomed.
Exactly my feelings on them.
Looking forward to riding it soon! Hope yall have a black Friday annual pass sale soon!
I have no control over what they offer for sales. You would have to reach out to the people who run the bike park.
Went up today with my son (Sat 26) Had a lot of fun. Trail length is excellent! Although, since you were on an e-bike for your video I believe it allowed you to not realize that the last 2/3 of Bear gulch was climbing. Otherwise, once at the connector it stayed consistent DH flow. The other trail head hits you with a climb from the start. Once past it, the trails flow really well.. Speed control is a must! Utilized the wait for the next shuttle up to correct my tire air pressures and suspension settings. Will make this my local go to spot. Bravo to the staff which were super friendly and helpful.. BTW, no way in hell would I even attempt to ride from base camp via the access road to the trail head on a non e-bike 😮💨. 😵💫 100 degrees plus today!
It's a hot one out there! Sounds like you had a fun time!
I had fun building the top mile of Bear Gulch and left just before the contractor got kicked off the property. Used a mini ex tried to keep it narrow.
Definitely enjoyed your work.
going out to check out the park on sunday! stoked for San Diego Bike Park!
What did you think?
@@destinationMTB I think it has unlimited potential to be a great bike park. Coyote Chase has tons of flow and Granite Falls has great rock work and steepness.
A few suggestions on improvements:
-Shade structures at the top middle and bottom corral areas.
-Beer
-Bathrooms that aren’t portapotties
-a less treacherous shuttling system. Those side rails and trucks can’t possibly last that long.
-is there any sort of medical staff on site?
- it sucks having to climb to get back to your car (which was our only refuge from the 110degree sun. Not sure how this can be alleviated
Thanks for this for this amazing video! Is there a bike shop there that can do sag measurments on rear forks ?
There is a bike shop on-site that should be able to help if you need anything. I would recommend learning how to make your sag with the travel indicators in your fork and shock. 👍🏼
Thanks! and ,is DH bike okay to use here in this park?@@destinationMTB
I left a comment here a few days ago...... My previous employer @GASS, Global Action Sports Solutions ,built some of that trail system.
If you've been to Bentonville and have ridden Masterpiece when it was dirt before they capped it with cement then you know.
Trail design like that sheds water good.
That is true, we are good friends with some of the other diggers that worked on it as well. Just excited for it to be shared with the world.
Is there any green trails that allows bikes w/ shotgun seats for the kids?
I would say all of the trails are too difficult and exposed for that.
Will there be annual passes offered?
I believe there will be, yes.
So is this officially open now?
It will be open most likely in mid September.
is it just going to be tech trails or jump trails as well ?
These are all of the trails that are currently completed that will be ready for opening. They will be doing a lot of work to clean them up, but I don't anticipate any new builds between now and opening sometime in September.
So no jump trails is what you’re telling me . 😔
@@-kaster--kaster-6090 jump trails is a must. Surprised it wasn't on the priority list to have one come opening day
@@miguelzuniga7799 Not everybody wants to ride jump trails, we have plenty of resorts for that. I think a large portion of the community would love some really well built natural trails. Think the California version of the shore or those Canadian spots.
No, Kaster is right. We all want jump trails. Looks like a blast, but it's definitely going to need more blacks and some jumplines to keep the local population coming back
Is the exposure as bad as it looks in some places?
Insta 360 distorts the image a lot on the sides and makes it looks super steep. I’m sure It’s not as steep as shown. In some of the turns, as the side of the cliff is shown in the middle of the frame, it shows it closer to reality.
Although @emtbhookes is correct, these trails are really narrow and right on the edge of a really steep grade. The couple times I started to slide toward the edge, I did not like what I saw to greet me. Make no mistake, there is a good deal of exposure on these trails. Some like myself, will enjoy that. I do think they are going to have to increase the ratings on nearly all of the trails. Especially that upper blue and green trail.
when is it expected to open
Some time in September, they are waiting on a shuttle vehicle that they purchased.
Nice. Cool videos man keep them coming 👍
Is it open now?
I believe the opening date will be sometime in September.
Is this on private land? It really looks more like a system of natural trails (than a groomed bikepark). Question is; Is 60 worth a shuttle for the day? Makes me wonder; How long will the rides be... and how long will I wait for another shittle?
There certainly are lots of questions. We do really like the fact that it is a bit more raw, but it is still early and I bet they will be grooming things a lot more before opening. (weed abatement, etc.)
La Jolla Indian Reservation land.
Exactly not worth it at all 🤷♂️
Is it only for e bikes ?
All bikes, we just had ebikes because they don't have the shuttle working yet.
lol
Can you bring 2 cars and shuttle it yourself?
Negative ghostrider...
Looks like exposure mountain
The hill is pretty steep, but the trails are built well.
@@destinationMTB people fall sometimes. Just not usually down a mountain side when they do lol. I don’t mind drops and jumps or tech but I just can’t do the exposure.
Can we see a trail map?
I think there might be one on their website now. They open this weekend!
Can you clarify that people can ride up these on e-bikes while people are bombing down them? That seems like a recipe for disaster. They aren’t going to have a specific uphill line?
The park was closed so we climbed one of the green lines. While other riders are present the proper way would be to pedal the shuttle road that does not have DH traffic.
What is green trail mean ?
Beginner 👍🏼
Looks more like regular trails than bike park…and it’s $60… Thanks for the video preview though, good to see before driving out.
My hope is that they open with a slightly reduced rate, and give them time to perfect the system. If they get it running smooth with multiple shuttle vehicles while controlling capacity I think it will be worth it.
Exactly I ain’t paying $60 dollars for some Tech trails . I wish they would build jump trails like they have in Whistler, silverstar bike park ,bike park wales , revolution bike park , winter berg bike park , dirt farm ….etc not tech trails theres plenty of that all over California and they’re free .
Can you share a trail map?
I'm not sure if they have finalized it yet, but I did link to their site where you can find the most up to date information.
Is it the camera or are you on the side of a cliff most of the time?
The exposure is definitely there in many spots. In general, I find these trails to be a bit narrower than most bike parks which does make them more interesting. But for those who want a full dozer width trail, this is not going to be the place for you.
Really enjoy your channel. However, please go back to a more linear POV. It's impossible to get any usable perspective on a trail in this kind of super wide view. It is visually interesting but it's not in line with your "theme" of showing the details of the full trail system.
I appreciate the feedback. I'm trying to strike a balance between giving a good view of what the trail has to offer while also having the bike in an interesting perspective. I personally love the angle and feel like it gives a better perspective than GoPro angles. But if you prefer GoPro angles there are tons of channels that feature those as well.
@@destinationMTB so you are telling him to bugger off!?!?
@@destinationMTB You're being too defensive. The video quality is quite poor... blurry, and it constantly looks like you'd fall off a cliff if you went off trail...
Agree 100%
Are there one way trails?
Heating the narration of riders e biking up!! No Bueno if there are no one way trails at those speeds shown.
Once the park opens, I do believe all of them will be one-way. They have plans in the future to add a designated up trail for climbing, but with the expansion of the shuttles I think that is a lower priority than adding more DH trails.
Trails look awesome. Really hard to get a sense of what your hitting. It’s unfortunate you lose all sense of perspective with these cameras.
It definitely is tough sometimes to get an idea of how large some of the hits are, but I really do like this angle for being able to see the full trail as well as the rider you are riding behind.
$50 a day? Yeah, no thanks
Totally your call, we loved our time there on multiple occasions.
Vail lake only charges $10 a day & $5 on Friday. I ride there all the time.
Vail is an excellent choice as well. 👍🏼
Looking forward to giving this park a run.. Your camera perspective sorta distorts the actual hillside steepness and trail width.. Don’t want to assume this is bombable and overshoot to an untimely demise.. 🫨
I'm going to be honest, in most places it isn't actually that distorted. The hillside is really steep along most of the hill, which is why all of the current trails traverse the hill and a pretty flat angle. If you look at the topo you can see what I'm talking about.
@@destinationMTBCopy that! Steep trail side edge.
