- I'm in my 4th year of owning the Intex Ultra XTR Rectangular pool, measuring 9 X 18 X 52 inches, and it has proven to be a worthwhile investment. It has withstood the test of time and we have reaped significant returns on our investment.
This pool is incredibly sturdy with no signs of rust or leaks. The only maintenance required was a new ground cover for those who assemble and disassemble it annually, which we do not.

Love it. We had an Intex like yours just smaller. That pool was used for 12 years then my husband decided that we didn’t need it. The supports were beginning to rust and we couldn’t find new ones. Grandchildren would go in at 9am and play until parents came home around 6pm. Best investment I ever made.
Your water is so clear for being up 4 years. Ours has never looked like water out of the hose except for the first year.

your pool is lovely clear! i have found using pool shock bleached my liner :(
you gotta make sure you stir it good with the water from the pool in a separate bucket before you dump it in, like you're making lemonade! Throw it evenly throughout the pool and it wont bleach your liner!
I live in Arkansas. In the winter do you leave water in it and do you cover it?

Thank you for sharing - Can you share what was the initial cost for the salt water system? I would prefer that over chlorine and you did mention some thing about having some chemicals. Can you just give a little more information on that this is awesome.
Sorry for the late reply, SO much going on. So, depending on how many gallons your pool is, mine being under 5000, this is the Intex chlorinator I have: amzlink.to/az0fYOzY3IFu3 (Aff link), around $200. These saltwater chlorinators range from 2200 to 15,000, and many times come with bundle kits on Amazon. Of course you have to get pool salt, which is about $6-8 a bag. The good thing about salt, is that you have to add very little each year.
When it comes to chemicals, I buy a pool opening and closing kit, when they go on sale, at the beginning of the season. In reality, even with the saltwater system, you will occasionally have to add pool chemicals to boost the sanitation process. Rain, people, and sometimes algae happens, and that's when I shock it. They have saltwater shock systems, but I just use the regular ones when needed. Unfortunately, just like everything else pool chemicals have gone way up, so I like to see if I can get deals online, and usually for my 5000 gallon pool I spend about $60. So, for my pool, I would say today, initial start up without finding it on sale, would be, $300. I hope this helps, or anyone else reading it, LOL.
What have you done for the off season? I’m in Ohio, my concern is the winters. Intex instructions say to completely disassemble for the winter, meaning take apart the liner, fold it up and store indoors.
We have an intex 21’ round, in the middle of our 6th year. We do Not take it down, the liner is heavy and we are not chancing putting a hole in it! We buy a winterization kit off Amazon and tarp it. One winter the wind got under & the next spring Opening was not pretty. Now we hang water jugs at every post, no problem since. Water looks just like when we covered it. This year we are starting to get some wear on the top rap over vinyl. Flex seal tape corrected that. Up graded to large sand filter and through wall skimmer are a must in my book. Wife and Grandkids are in it all the time! Pool was cheap 6 years ago! We have spent more on inflatables in six years😂
Same thing, except I did get a deal on a new liner only on eBay, just as a back up. The deal was too good to pass up. If I have to do anything next year, it would be to make sure it's still nice and level after all these summers on my concrete patio. It sounds like your wife and I could be friends, and inflatables are addictive. 😂
Intex does say to disassemble, but I leave mine up just like any other above ground pool. I add pool closing kit, pool inflatable pillows to go under my winter tarp. One thing that kept my tarp down last year was plastic wrap, made for pool closing. It's, crazy, but it worked better than any other method I've used in the past. 😁
Any advise on how to level the concrete patio?
After hours of research on how to level a pool on concrete, I went with layered shingles and foam underneath. It's not perfect, but definitely within the 2 inch limit. I must be doing something right because it's not moved or shifted, and we are going into our 4th summer with this pool. Thanks for the question.

I bought this brand in 2020 not the exact of course but the salt ate the metal in 2 years so how are you avoiding this??

You probably have too much salt in your water. If the water has a salty taste, it probably has too much salt. The normal solution shouldn’t affect any metal that’s not immersed.
Do you leave it up year round?
Yes! I live in the South, and it's been no problem. I do know others who leave it up year round in colder areas too.

@ladycaruso you buy a closing kit with a closing cover and pillow drain pool half way add closing Chemicals and pillow and top. Make sure top is tied down good when opening comes around water should still be Cristal clear

I have two mini dachshund puppies that jump on it all the time, so I can't say for cats. The liner is pretty thick though. Thank u for the question. 🩷

You do know pools should be 10feet or more away from the house. If anything was to happen your house Insurance won't cover anything.

Homeowners insurance varies from state to state. Why are you trying to sound like a licensed agent when clearly you are not. I'm not licensed either but have 3 years with a major commercial insurance company.
Pools that are above ground, don't even need to be conveyed to the agent. If there is a claim to be made on the home such as burglary, fire, natural disaster, (other than flooding), it is covered regardless if you have a pool. The only problem she MIGHT have, is with the city or town ordinance regarding placement of the pool. That would mean a fine and removal or relocation of the pool. I am stating facts as per NYS.
@SilentNoMore64 look up every state the rules are all the same when it comes to pools on how far it needed to be. Look it up. Insurance well always go bye the the state guide lines with pools. Read your policy. But most people don't read anything anymore all they do is bitch before reading
You need a skimmer and get rid of those garbage hoses and plum it in with pvc pipe.
I have been using those ( garbage) hoses for 4 years with no problems and my pool is in the sun all day!
