    I had no idea how to get to the Gasparilla Island/Boca Grande sandbar so we winged it and found the BEST spot to park & launch your watercraft right around the corner from the sandbar! The water is clear blue and amazing!
    Check out the maps in the video which shows where to turn as you go over the toll bridge onto Gasparilla Island. The address for the kayak & paddleboard rental right there is 5810 Gasparilla Rd, Placida, FL 33946

      Me too 🙏 I asked around to see if the rail bridge is still standing over there and I believe it is. Thankfully Gasparilla Island didn’t take as much of a hit as expected 🙏

    How deep does the water get along the old tracks? Over 5’?

    • @EpicSaltyLife
      @EpicSaltyLife  Před 2 měsíci

      On the side of the sandbar it's about waist deep, I was able to climb up the tracks to mount the GoPro so, not deep. On the other side of the tracks it drops off a bit, but all around that area you have patches of shallow clear blue water, it's stunning!

    • @EpicSaltyLife
      @EpicSaltyLife  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, really cool, it used to be the Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway that serviced Gasparilla Island in Charlotte Harbor and a major shipping port that once operated there. The purpose was to transport phosphate mined along the Peace River and in the Bone Valley region of Central Florida to the port to be shipped.
