I must have listened to this more than a 100 times now. Can't get over how beautiful this is 😮
Join the crowd. Gert can be more additive than any narcotic. With side effects of wondrous joy and deep soul satisfaction.
@@johnkaylor3929 En effet je devenue addict à la façon de jouer de Gert avec les effets secondaires que vous décrivez... Beaucoup de joie dans mon cœur et mon âme 🎶🎶🎶
Me too Hellothere11!!
Right there with ya, hellothere11! Incredible talent considering he was a mere teenager when he played this masterpiece! I have a lot of 'favorites' when it comes to Bach, but I think this piece ranks #1.
Same as you.
This is one of my all time favourite organ videos. Not only is the music great and does Mr. van Hoef's skill inspire me, but the page turner's facial expressions along with Mr. van Hoef's cheeky grins get me every time. I thoroughly enjoy this video and watch it when I need uplifting!
I second that 😊😊😊 the performance is awesome and the page turner looks like he's doing the most important job anyone has ever done. Such an entertaining video.
Simply one of the best organists alive today.
Learning of Gert van Hoef's outstanding talent is one of the best things that's ever happened to me.
74Voyeur I totally agree. When it comes time for me to thank God for my greatest blessings, discovering Gert, and being able to indulge in his performances, will be among them. When the moments come in my daily life where I want to just sit back for a moment or two immersed in simple beauty, I think of a Gert performance I love, and play it.
My two favorite parts...first, at 1:25 when Gert makes a quick look at the page turner and grins. Second, at 2:00, Gert shows his passion for this music. You are awesome Gert!
I must have listened/watched this video a hundred times. What can I say? Bach had to have been in one of the three Heavens when he wrote this Cantata. It came not of this Earth. Hats off to you, Gert!!!
Could not agree more, Glen! This is my all time favorite piece for the pipe organ, and my newest favorite pipe organ CZcams video. Gert makes it sound even better than I ever thought possible! PS....I can probably put my name on 150 or 200 of those 350,231 views as of 24 May 2018 LOL
The boy is obviously a genius. Glorious performances. The world gives grateful thanks to Google in obviously recognizing this glorious gift and encouring it and presenting it and furthering the gift to a future generations. Thank you Bach, Hoef and Google.
+Norman Peters If any of Gert's vids are ever removed I can't even imagine the worldwide outcry. This old man should be in bed. But I just can't tear myself away.
I found this honest and want to share

THANK YOU Norman for stating clearly, in simple terms, what Gert means to us, and the world ( by 'us' I refer to those who perceive and savor truly rare musical interpretation and performance of great classic music.)
Gert, You play this better than anyone I have ever heard. You put Your heart into it and make the music come to life.
I love this video and the way Gert is having fun at it and the funny interaction with his scared page turner friend.
I once had a page turner turn the page and knocked the music off the piano and into the orchestra pit. Fortunately it was a piece that kept going up half steps so I was able to continue while he went down into the orchestra pit, retrieved the music, placed it back on the piano just as I hit the last chord. You can't make this stuff up.
The hilarious page turner is easily understood when you read his explanation... the pair of them did brilliantly well considering 3 hours of sleep the night before. And it is good to see the informal environment and good to see dedicated and talented young fellas who can enjoy themselves too!
One of my favourite videos. I put it on most every morning just to pick me up and begin the day by glorifying God to the sound of your wonderful music. Rev JET+
I don't understand why people give a "thumbs down." Plain and simple, Mr. van Hoef's performances are brilliant!
They are jealous.
I don't mean to be cynical, or oracular, but if God himself played it, there are those who would pan it. Some would pan it BECAUSE God played it. All of the human faults and horrors are alive and well in this world (that is not philosophical conjecture, but fact - just go out to the Internet for graphic proof). This is not heaven, but the material world phase of creation. I no more care or spend 1 second on such 'persons' input than I would on Satan's advice.
Some thumbs down may only be out of sheer jealousy and spite by some who can only WISH that they could perform HALF as well.
@@benyoung4326 My thumbs down is not out of jealousy! This is a sloppy performance. He nearly loses it a couple of times. Gert is flashy, he appeals to the hoi polloi riveting them with dramatic pablum. In this particular performance his registrant is a professional, serious, and better organist. Gert did his best work during the period of their collaboration. Of course, no doubt that Gert makes more money than many markedly better organists. I can assure you that nobody in the future will refer back to any of Gert’s performances as a benchmark. I mean, in America, a character named Liberace earned millions playing concerts for the non musically educated masses. Utterly nobody today takes Liberace’s playing seriously. The same will be the fate of Gert. Additionally, I’m old enough to recall how, during the late 1970s and early 80s, Karajan made a fortune selling his “beautiful noise” to the record buying public, especially the Japanese, while at the same time he was held in contempt by real musicians. Nowadays, nobody listens to Karajan.
@@Xenogeek2 ..or maybe they have better ears and more knowledge than you and can differ good performances from sloppy and uncontrolled bad ones?
Has the idea that maybe some people know more than you ever struck you in life?
Gert, you are a master. Always have been, wowwwww, I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you and all the best for you and your little family 🙏
it's as though Gert has Bach inside him: full of spiritual joy! Thank God that since the 1980s we've got free of this idea that Bach had a metronome in his head! Living the other side of the North Sea, I'm thrilled to see such imaginative young organists in the Netherlands giving the organ a whole new lease of life. More!
I just love this tune.... and Gert you should make a concert for the world regarding these times. We need this mighty sound of the organ and your skills
Glory to God in the highest for providing the organ and artists such as Gert to play these wonderful classic pieces.
Amen, Keith! To God be ALL the Glory! Just to think, we'll be able to converse with Bach when we get to Heaven. In a sick and sorry world, it's thoughts like this that keep me going.
Bach would be proud of you today Gert. I admire you as a skilled organist. Keep up the good work!!
This month (2019, Nov) I notice this work. To me, it has an immense richness because is done with joy, with a force that can only derive from living and loving the music. Think as me: JS Bach would be unlighted with the performance of this youth. God blessed Gert van Hoef. I know this Cantata for more than 50 years.
There is no doubt that God blessed Gert.
I think the registration sounds great! so warmth and grandeur! without piercing your ears! The contrast between this nasal, electrifying sound in the great organ and the sweet and deep sound in the choir or positive organ is superb!
I cannot stop watching you playing this sinfonia Gert I see you become part in living the piece you are playing, you are a remarkable young man and you bring so much pleasure to countless thousands of people around the world thank you for being you, as not only a clever organist but a phenomenal one at that! :)
Me too, Greesy duck, this is my favorite of Gert. Also so funny, the interaction with his scared page turner friend, homey video and full of joy!! The most joyfull! Bach as performed here by Gert! 💕
And having fun, pure enjoyment for him and us.
Absolutely brilliant playing of one of my favourite pieces for organ from the master himself! I love the tone of the instrument and the confidence and feeling with which it is played by this young man. I keep playing it over and over again. Fantastic! Hot playing on an obviously hot day!
Although I have always loved Bach, I never actually cared for this particular piece. That was - until I found this performance of it by Gert. Now I Love it!
page turner speaking here: nice to see all those comments, it's quite funny now that i see this video back after a few years. we had an awesome night before with some friends so we had not much sleep. we didn't want to go to bed too late, but you know how it goes when there are girls around... the next day it was like 35 degrees celsius in that room and we had to prepare the whole day, so it was quite a job for us both to stay focused that concert with 3 hours of sleep and a tough day behind! that's also why it looks so intense, haha! we had the agreement that Gert would nod when the next preset had to be activated or a page had to be turned, that's why the focus is on his face.
The intensity paid off! Gert did a wonderful job with your help. The funny part I like, 1:25, Gert's quick glance at you...priceless. Keep up the great work.
Jan Post That's all true. :D
Both of you guys are awesome! Thank you for all the videos. I play your channel at my work and listen to it all the time.
Jan Post hi
I thought that it was very hot!
cannot stop watching you play this Cantata Gert and I post it all over the world to my friends you make the goosebumps stand up and as I listen and watch you perform this I can see your body language is so happy as your fingers seem to glide over the keys and as if by magic the keys go down and beautiful music of JS Bach's Cantata flow out of the organ WOWEEEEEEEEE!!! sooo beautiful!!
The best performance I have heard! BRAVO!
You are a most talented and gorgeous young man!
Thank you Gert, wonderful articulation and fascinating page turner.
Love all your video's.
You make a new life for the great pipe organ repertoire.
Also very pleasing visually.
The old organists can die peacefully now, there is hope in the new generation. V. talented organist! Been a long time since I heard so nice interpretations, not from technical 100% point of view, but you have a good ear/choice for stops, and this is how organ music should sound like. Bravo!
@@excelxenia6314 ??? We are watching a video about organs here, and someone is writing about organs, and you start about forex out of the blue 😂😂 Of course you are a silly spam bot though. 🙂
what a young genius, cool, relaxed, mastering the most complex music instrument
effortlessly.
enjoyed the comments about the page turner, actually the interaction between them put a smile on our face, lightened us up, and together with the immense beauty of bach made our day. thank you bach and gert!
Karen you touched on a key point about Gert. Even when forced to sight read this quite complex piece (since he hadn't memorized it yet) he seems to treat the physical playing of it as just a secondary necessity to it's execution. He has a beautiful interpretation in mind and renders that beautiful performance regardless of technical demands.
Well done, Gert! I actually tear up when I hear this Sinfonia. Absolutely pure, divinely inspired.
Fantastic performance Gert .A joy to hear & see you play with such passion .Bravo
Who else couldn't stop staring at the guy in yellow shirt? His face impressions are priceless! 😄
That “guy in the yellow shirt” is a very fine organist in his own right.
Indeed, a fantastic find for Monday - makes my day! This young genius is one of the Treasures of The Age. Sight reading this difficult work is quite an accomplishment in and of itself, not to mention rendering it in a virtuosic manner. Bravissimo, maestro!

I will respond to Marc's comment that Gert is 'one of the treasures of the age'. That remark is a very, and obviously extreme assertion. I, and most persons, would normally immediately balk at such a descriptive claim. We would find that characterization as an exaggerated attempt at praise - almost without qualification. Because WHO would qualify to have it placed on them?
However I must say, that after experiencing Gert (his recorded musical performances) over a period of Years now, going back repeatedly after lengthy breaks in time, I must actually agree with that stellar level of praise. I have Never experienced such profoundly beautiful and glorious performances - and being moved internally like I have by Gert. And Not on just the first hearing, but Repeatedly, after long absences from the performance.
Gert is NOT simply a 'great organist' or instrumental virtuoso. I could find that somewhere else.
Gert is Blessed with a musical gift I have found Nowhere else.
This is most probably one of my absolute favorite Bach pieces!!
Mine too! Albert ward and Gert! Playing it with such fun and enjoyment! The interaction with scared page Turner friend is precious!
Absolutamente fantástico. Um prodígio!
I remember the old days when I could party all night and be functional the next day. Them's days is over! Wonderful piece and performance. Gert's the Best, but we all know that! Clear delineation of the various voices.
As usual, another impressive performance of a classic. I love watching the intensity of performer with instrument and couldn't help notice an intensity in the eyes and actions of the page turner. Thanks for sharing with your fans - which I'm glad to be.
This is indeed the most beautiful and stunningly brilliant rendering of Bach's jubilant Sinfonia I've ever heard. All other interpretations I know are either too fast or too clumsy because of too heavy registration (perhaps they wrongly think they have to substitue for the orchestra), missing either your heavenly rhythmic pulse or the transparency of the sound of this organ.
That sounded awesome! Great stereophonic recording and even the low bass notes came through quite well! Thank you!
One of the best interpretations on you-tube, with excellent tempo!
Just think, this piece of work is older than the US and still is played and enjoyed today.
Watched this video many times. Still am amused by the joy of these young people, playing God's own music. Well done❤❤🎉🎉
I absolutely adore you playing this Cantata of JS Bach please take no notice of the ones giving brash critique you play with such enthusiasm and its so lovely to hear all your beautiful organ pieces Well Done Gert :)
greesyduck, I couldn't agree you more!!!!!! Fabulous video. I hope Gert is preparing videos from this past weekend's concert (March 29). Gert is like a needed vitamin to my health.
Mark Heesen
certainly an incredible organist every time I listen he makes my whole body fill with goosebumps and a lump in my throat never heard anyone play an organ like Gert wow he doesn't just play he performs it with his whole being the music becomes alive and penetrates deep into one's soul :)
greesyduck There definitely is something magical about his playing. Especially when his hands start bouncing off the keys like they often do. His pedal work is incredible too. Like he puts his feet on auto-pilot. They take care of themselves. No one compares with Gert van Hoef. Thank God for him.
Mark Heesen
yes I'm impressed with his feet with the pedals they seem to have a mind of their own as he never looks at them and even they are note perfect :)
Mark Heesen You miss one. He's adorable. I hope he NEVER wears black tie.
Your playing is amazing Gert, you play with so much passion your are very talented young man! You are a God sent sooo gifted, thank you for your music!! God bless you!
I like it so much too its a Great Organist

There is now a PayPal donate button in the bank details of the contact page of Gert's website. This makes a very cost effective way for people outside the Netherlands to support Gert for continuing to post very beautiful organ music for free on CZcams. Nice comments don't feed a family!
Just as interesting as hearing and watching Gert, was the contribution of his assistant. Wow! Such intensity and commitment!
C'est un plaisir renouvelé que d'écouter du Bach par Gert, Merci beaucoup et je reviendrai vous écouter.
I remain amazed, Gert van Hoef, at your ability to move from church to church, organ to organ, and perform a piece with verve and so masterfully. This recording looks to be a very tough method to stay thin. Bravo at the performance under difficult conditions. Again, Bravo!
Gert is incredible. He is utterly amazing. Love his facial expressions. May he enjoy all the best.
I am not getting tired of watching this video & listening to the music. Bach is my favorite. And Jan Post the page turner is surprisingly entertaining. Love it. Keep posting beautiful baroque musics
Riri Riri all to the Glory of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
What a fine organist and a great choice of stops.
specially pedal stops at begining were magnificient
I loved that 16' Nazzard pedal in the final bars.
J'aime vraiment beaucoup.
Love this performance. It Rocks!! In a classical style of course. One of my very favourites. Love your playing Gert.
Love the page turner...hilarious...Gert is such a great organist though !!!!!!!!
lol
The page turner was great, but he needs to learn site reading. Works better.
Yes this video is a hoot. Here you have Gert producing an absolutely wondrous performance of a difficult work while an assistant without a clue is hanging right over him. Openly gawking and staring right at him while he's in the middle of sight reading it no less. Just amazing.
Another one of my most favorite pieces, and of course played so very well. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Absolutely Perfectly Outstanding. Wish you could come play that at our church.
This was a joy to listen too! Very good tempo and registration, amazing!
To all you snobbish critics. he is playing to the
Glory to God and that is what's matters.
Fresh and talentous this young man capturate the audience. Bravo
Unbelievable how fast this young man is coming along in his musicianship and organ literature perfection/learning. BRAVO!! It's too bad there aren't 10,000 students of the organ and its literature just like him - with the zeal and determination to succeed! (It appears that his console assistant may NOT read music. GERT many times plays half of the next page by the time his buddy for these recordings/videos turns the page. LOL
glimpse of another world ,,,,,,magic
Marvelous, Gert! This is one of my very favorite Bach pieces, and you performed it exceedingly well! You are nothing short of incredible.
Een zeer muzikale en gepassioneerde uitvoering Gert. De vrolijkheid straalt er vanaf en ik denk dat Bach het ook zo bedoeld heeft. Klasse!
This is still one of the cutest videos !!
LOVED it...particularly the music of JS Bach...and have approved of your abilities which have grown substantially for quite some time!
I believe this recording is the most clear I have ever heard this song. Gert, you never cease to amaze me. Keep up the excelent work!!
Fantastic! And it looked like it was 30 degrees in that organ loft! What great talent!
Wonderful interpretation. And the organist is very cute...
+OLMO HEREDIA - COUNTERTENOR agreed with both! (interpepretation and good looks)
Now, in 2018, Gert is dressed like an oldfashioned organist. That is a big change.......
To see Gert get such joy in playing! It’s as if he were living then and playing the “ latest tune” rather than something 300 years old!>
Hey Gert, this is what I think music in Heaven will sound a little like. I listen to this when I am alone and it takes me to an amazing place. This cannot be background music, it is the very focus of this near 5 minutes. The composer produced such an amazing piece of music and your rendition is the best of all on CZcams. I like especially the deep base and those notes just float off your fingers in the middle. I pray that you and your family will find a church to settle into so you can teach your baby about the love of Christ keep up the great playing
You touch on an interesting side point, but a very True one for some of us Gert admirers. Certain of Gert's performances are so beautiful and unique, that I CANNOT, or will not, listen to them as "background music". When it comes time for me to listen to it, I want to Stop doing anything else and Focus on indulging in the marvelous musical odyssey produced. I don't want to miss a moment of it's musical beauty. That's an amazing statement really. Do you know how many other musical performers I refuse to listen to casually ? None.
Beautiful playing, Gert.
Genial !Danke !So leicht u inspiriert gespielt !Da macht Bach Spaß und Freude!
You done it so well❗👍👍👍👍👍
John -I found this on the concert page of Gert's website: it was played at "The Organ Shed". An. "enthusiastic organ fanatic" turned his barn into a concert hall.
wow Gert all the goosebumps have risen on my back and tingles with your fantabulistic mindblowingly beautiful playing (two words to describe your fantastic playing made up by me and not in he English dictionary)
It is magical to see the growing maturity of this young man.
Goodness he's good!
Beautiful man.
You love it and it shows. !!! Good for you. More kind sir. CVD
Gert you are just fantastic I listen over and over. Please consider coming to United States for a concert
I have always loved this piece. Hope to hear you again with it on other organs!
This is one of my very favorite pieces of music, which I have been listening to for over forty years. I very much enjoyed your performance, and felt moved by it. I wish I had just a small fraction of your talent. Also a great effort by the page turner.
Wow! Magnificent!
Perfect perfect perfect!!! You are my inspiration Gert
Beautiful music, beautiful playing, handsome musician...awesome page turner. Seriously, very well done,.
:)
Maravillosa interpretación. Música divina. Bach, el gran Dios
Mr. Post's intensity made the visual aspect of the video so very enjoyable. "No, did I miss a nod?" And the prolonged attempts at eye contact must be distracting for the organist but he soon seemed to find it all amusing as evidenced by fleeting smiles and brief glances. Wonderful!
But a major point here is that those distractions Did Not actually distract Gert. he rendered a flawless performance. Wow
Wonderful performance Gert Thank you .
Bach jamás morirá... es atemporal y eterno. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love this performance ,,this is what music should be ,,, joy and life to the max which is transmitted in abundance via this incredible music,,,Thanks to a truly great organist and page turner,,,,Bravo,,
Such a privilege to witness the birth of a great talent that will be remembered long after we've all departed the planet.
Just sublime. J.S. would approve wholeheartedly!
Wat heb jij een talent zeg! Geweldig!
Uno degli esecutori piu' geniali della Musica organistica.
Dear Gert; You have such a great feeling for music... and your own style. Wonderful.
Absolutely wonderful playing: bravo!!
Thanks very much. I hadn't checked the web site in awhile. I am just totally enthralled with Gert. I am amazed with his abilities, his enthusiasm and obvious love for the music and the instrument. He's just a kid! I look forward to listening, and hopefully seeing him, for the rest of my life. Thanks again!
He was just a kid - but one who God evidently showered with blessings.
