Ken Tague was a good friend who came to my workshop each morning, we had tea and biscuits . Ken was a computer expert and was always interested in new technology , one morning he brought a digital camera with video option, he asked if I would do some glassblowing for him to try out his new toy! I had been making double bulb splash heads. So I started and he filmed....The following day we had tea and biscuits.

Youd like to think so given he is very skilled, but great glass work does not always have to result from good studio practices. My instructor was asked to clean a very well known Italian master's CC, and he was horrified to find glass in the tubes, and the burner face damaged from having a low velocity flame too close to it. And that guy's work goes for THOUSANDS...

Maybe the compressed air is under too high pressure, take a look at 0:59, it comes out with full blast at a special point, not building up from then on. Or does a pure oxi flame just behave normal until a too high level of air is reached, since he's cranking the valve up 2 times before? Never tried to use that, until.. tomorrow!

as for the noise, herbies are some of the most complicated torches out there. There are specific niche models with different air systems (given he is in the scientific glass blowing community, a niche, he might have something custom set up). I know there are different things you can do with valves on the torch to control the compressed air, he could have just had the air super cranked up to lean out the flame...

@Missiledesign I am no expert in glassblowing but the guy has been doing it for 40 years so I think he knows what he is doing. Thanks for watching.

Can you show us how to make large glass tubes, so that we can make custom nixie tubes.

There are several methods but it's easier to just buy tubes in the diameter you want
