Reggie, We live not too far from the airport and I about mistook our 5 yr. old GE top loading washer for a 737 just prior to takeoff. I immediately thought bad bearing - big job. Then I saw this video. I was able to easily displace the tub over far enough to see that one of the rubber straps is broken. I owe you a six pack. Thanks for putting video on CZcams!!!!!

Thank you so much for this video! My son overloaded ours a few days ago while rushing his chores and it was making a really bad metal on metal scrapping after that. He was so worried about how he might make it up to us that he said he wanted to try to fix it. So, he and I used your video and it is fixed! I can't thank you enough.

We figured out how to control the off-load spin-cycle issue much easier: Bought a 2800 lbs 20 foot tow cable from Harbor Freight and wrapped it tightly around BOTH washer and dryer (they are right next to each other). This was our solution: No banging or moving around. Very silent. Couldn't be more happy. In the last 18 months since we did this, only once did it require us to re-position the towells.

Hi Reggie. I replaced the drive belt on my GE washer by tilting it on its side and removing the bottom plate. After I put it back together and stood it up, the spin cycle began with a loud bang and then a lot of other noises. I popped off the front and saw that the tub has 2 tabs bottom center and 2 wings standing up from the base plate. Well, the tub was off kilter and one of the tabs was stuck on top of the wing. By watching your video, I was able to figure it out. Thanks much!

This is so interesting. I can't wait to try it out. I let my brother do his laundry here, he put double the normal amount & now I can't wash any sheets or towels without a thunderous spin cycle. It takes a few adjustments, but I can usually balance it just by moving stuff around, but it's really annoying.

Question. The inside portion of the tub is leaning to one side and has a scraping sound when turned by hand. Like it is rubbing against plastic exterior. I also hear that jet engine sound you mentioned could be from failed bearing. Is the leaning tub interior common with bad/broken bearing?

We have a Hot Point top load washer(basically a GE)
During the spin cycle you can hear it banging around pretty bad...most the vids i viewed showed a loose counter weight as being the problem. I disassembled the machine about 10mins ago, and the counter weight looks to be good and tight.
What else could cause this problem? The 4 black rubber dampers in your vid seem to be fine.
    Any help would be appreciated!!

That usually happens if the machine was moved and place on its side. Or if you had a really off balance load in there. Look on the sides of the machine and verify that all this Springs are connected to the tub. Very easy to reconnect them

I have a ge top loader, model wjrr4170eww, it was leaking water so I replaced the tub seal and resealed the transmission because the fill plug was missing and the oil was goo. When I put it back together it now won't spin, it tries to and stops, not sure what happened but before, I replaced the capacitor, no help. Any ideas? It agitates fine, I also cleaned out the level tube and I can hear the level switch click when I blow into the tube. I checked the resistance of the lid switch, that was good too, during rinse/spin the motor turns to spin and I can hear it bang then it stops.

Reggie, hello I just found your channel and subscribed !
I hope you may have advice . GE top loader washer GTWN4250D0WS
On spin was out of balance . It should have gone in the metal dumpster . This old man is hardheaded and it's been apart 3x now maybe 4x . I have changed the 4 shock rods, the bearing ,the split ring seal. The transmission shaft . It's only slightly better . It has to be with the washer basket , hub or ring . I can't keep funding this piece of junk. What would Reggie do . The balance ring seems as described with 2/3 full . Clean the hub ?
The counter weight seems fine . It was loose but it also had been spun out of balance quite a few times . The interior was loaded with fabric soften waxey build up . Help Reggie

I thought it was just the rubber stabilizers making my washer off kilter. The front right had fallen off and front left snapped. But after opening it up and reattaching the right front I'm realizing it must be much more than the rubber stabilizers. The whole barrel is completely tilted to the left and is knocking on the side during the spin cycle. It's so bad that it shakes the whole apartment.
