  • In this vid i'm driving in France again in a right hand drive car (uk car) on the wrong side of the road! Depending on your perspective :} I demonstrate how to handle tight spots on country lanes and how to manage the space a little better. Loads of driving in France tips. Plenty of examples of French road signs and the good ol' priority to the right that no one really understands, kinda. And! You get to see a beautiful part of the French countryside and the real gem of this particular region a town called Uzès.

I'd love to see Tesla's "full" self-driving in action in Europe. Must be hilarious

Concerning signals on the roundabout: If France has the same rules as Belgium then you only need to signal when you leave the roundabout. If you don't signal it means you keep on following the road, in this case in a circular path. Imagine the roundabout as if it's a one-way street with priority at every junction.
"Give way to the right" is a very simple rule. It is in effect and should be your first instinct at every junction you come across unless signs or traffic lights indicate otherwise.

Interesting!! That might make sense concerning the roundabout. That’s not how we do it in the Uk but thank you for the explanation😊👍

Be careful of the out of 30 signs. More often than not the 30 limit is within a 50kmh zone so the out of 30 means you’re re-entering a 50

Priority to the right is the standard rule in pretty much every country that drives on the other side :) I’ve driven in many countries in Latin America (on top of Western European countries) :)

Great video! Really helpful for my trip to France tomorrow. Quick question, how imperative or more personally how big is a fine for not having yellow jackets do you think?😅

I don’t know is the honest answer but you’ll find out if you break down on the motorway 🤷‍♂️

You could simply get a hi-viz vest before you leave, at the channel crossing or at the first supermarket you see in France. I drive in France every day and I’ve never been asked to prove that I’ve got one.

I've driven more than 10,000 miles all over Europe in mainly Spain and Portugal, and today I've learned about priority to the right. 🤭

It’s a daft rule! 😝I’m not sure the French like it either.

Give way to the right is a rule that almost every country in main land Europe has. The only two countries that don't have that rule are the UK and Ireland. So it is especially important to know this rule for drivers from these countries. Signs are pretty much the same with minor differences. The only sign that would be new for the British and Irish is the yellow diamond sign with a thick white border, which simply indicates a priority road. The same sign with a stripe-or stripes-indicates the end of priority road. The UK and Ireland are the only countries in Europe that don't have a priority road sign, and I think it's due to the fact that neither country ratified the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals.
Lastly I'd like to mention that prohibitory signs, e.g speed limits, no stopping/parking signs and so on, tend to apply until the first junction unlike the UK. So, when you pass a junction (not a driveway) the speed limit is back to normal. Can't speak for every country, but it's like that in most of Europe to my knowledge.

Very interesting. Love comments like this that educate. Priority to the right for us brits is definitely not logical. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Surprising about the stop signs, because I've heard a piece of trivia-not sure how true that is-that there only used to be one stop sign in Paris, but they kept stealing it, so they replaced it with a give way sign. Maybe exclusive to Paris. Or maybe flat out lies. 😂

Interesting but, PLEASE, stop playing accordion music any time there's a video about France! It's 2024 not 1930, for crying out loud! LOL.
The "zig-zag" sign lets you know you're entering a section with several bends. (The sign also shows if the first curve is to the right or to the left).
When there are no speed-limit signs don't go over 80 km/h (130 on motorways, 110 in rainy weather).
Yes, you're arriving at Uzès from the South.
With a right-hand drive always take someone with you in order to get the tickets from the carpark machines or buy a long handle reacher!!!

Bahahahah😂 I think I’ve only done one with music like that. But if I do another one I’ll try not to use it again 😝
