- Today we have a guided tour of our cottage guest house. You might have noticed the cottage guest house during some of our garden tours, it is a small cottage that is just by the lake. It is a very serene small cottage and we filmed some of our first tutorials on the litt porch in front of it.
We have filled it with items from our travels, antique fairs and thrift stores. It is a very cozy and beautiful place and it is also the place where Erik sleeps when he is up here to shoot.
A lot of you have asked about a house tour but we are not ready to do that yet, so we hope you enjoy this litt peek into our tiny little cottage in Norway!

I’m so happy Rob has a comfortable room for the winter, where he won’t get kicked. The “tucking him in” was absolutely lovely.
Love the guest cottage, just beautiful. I was amazed and had a big grin when Arne said he has been reading the Nancy Drew books. I loved reading them when I was a child.

What a cozy, charming guest house. I love that you have Nancy Drew books! I have a few that were passed on to my sisters and I when we were children. One of them is from 1930 with wonderful illustrations of Nancy in her "roadster" wearing a cloche hat. The other books are from the 1940s and 50s. Everything in your guest house is so beatuiful and I love that everything has a story. Thank you for sharing. 💖

I love this room. You have to be careful because your guests may never leave. Your mother's curtains are beautiful, the quilt is so unique and beautiful, as is all the Asian furniture. The Norwegian Tapestries pillow reminds me of my grandmother and aunts. There are so many things to look at in there and enjoy. Thank you for showing us your treasures in the guest house. I loved seeing everything and hearing about why they are there.

Just fell in love with your guest house a.k.a. bathhouse. I can see your guests would feel warm and cozy inside, I can see myself meditating in there. It’s such a joy to be with you talk about and share your travels, your memories And young childhood, early adult and current life history with us with each and every piece in the bath house. ❤❤❤
And what a comfort to have a hot water bottle like you have laying at my feet. By the way do you have a pattern for your hot water bottle cozy?
What a lovely place to visit or meditate! Your guest house is so welcoming and cozy. I love the dark colors on the walls and then all the textiles and antiques to brighten it up. Your cottage is lovely! What a joy your guests must experience when they discover something new each time that they glance around the room! I am also a great fan of rocking horses, and yours are really nice. Every room needs a bookcase, and the quilt on the bed is glorious! My friend, Turid, had similar curtains in her apartment in Moss! I'm so glad to share your idea of matching different elements in a flat or a house! Buying myself only what I like, not worrying of style, it resulted having the flats I lived in (I'm 70jo) as "nests"😢 where I lived very happily. Hugs from Italy ❤

Love the quilt, that’s very pretty..A very nice old fashioned room, all goes together well. Another good old Farrow and Ball .so pleased someone is as bad as us., our whole house is painted in Farrow and Ball . There colours are unique.. think you will have to have a go at making quilt , I think you would come up with something really nice. Ice you have something of your mums in your home. I think it will do Rob to have a good sleep before summer use.. hehe thank you for showing us around your cottage. It will be almost time for him to come out again.enjoy rest of your break. I think you mentioned you were coming to England a little while back but not sure if that’s this May or next. Bit wet here here at the moment.

And I applaud your taste in music. You’ve given me ideas on how to make my guest room even more interesting. Mine has a travel theme with lots of art and travel posters as well as old postcards I collect. But it’s not nearly as cozy. I have work to do. Your beautiful room is such an inspiration. Looks like I'm the only one who has no idea what Rob is! I do not have a clue. What is it? Looks like someone said it's a lawnmower but I don't see the resemblance! Loved the tour of the guest house, everything is so lovely and it all works so well together. And I never lose my appreciation that you are doing this in English, not in your native languages. Carlos, you are more fluent than Arne, but I actually love that Arne's English is so heavily accented, and I love it when he speaks a bit of Norwegian so you can provide the English word he is seeking. You are both utterly charming. I hope I get to go on one of your cruises someday.

That was fun! It's an interesting combination of patterns but they seem to go really well together - perhaps the lovely walls set them off. The curtains Arne's mom gave him are perfect. So many comforts, right at a guest's fingertips. Anyone would feel welcome. As hopefully, Rob will too.
I am so thrilled to see designers using color. I am a maker, but it is words that come from my soul. A writer has to have a rich world to create it. It just isn't possible in all white, minimalistic environments. Thank you for encouraging others to embrace and create warmth and comfort in a home. Throughly enjoyed this video!

What a special place to house your guests. People would not want to leave. As a quilter,the first thing I was drawn to was the quilt. I said to my husband "Look...an antique American string quilt!" Nothing succeeds more in creating a cozy room as seeing a pretty quilt. Thanks to people like you, the art of quilting will survive past us quilters. Did Arne embroider the cushion or is it sewn from fabric with the Norwegian motif?

Every time I see that floral/botanical t-shirt of Arne's I try to find one like it and never can. Might just have to settle for finding a fabric and making my own!
The tapestry of the birds is made from a kit of counted cross stitch and is identical to one my mother made in the 1960’s. She made hundreds of kits from Eva Rosenstand who I believe is Danish.
