I hadn't played for nearly two years. I tried the game yesterday and I was immediately overwhelmed and logged out after 5 mins.
Overwhelmed by what? Just ignore the vast majority of the stuff. Only bother with season of the wish and lightfall. I quit 2 years ago as well. So I’m speaking from experience. I quit during witch queen after I finished the campaign and raid. It’s really not that overwhelming.

@@th9986well I stopped about 3 years ago when beyond light released , I think I stopped just before witch queen, and just a couple of days ago booted the game up …. And I feel like a complete noob , it’s a combination of a lot of changes, and me forgetting quite a lot so… not that simple

this is actually perfect. my bf is a retunring player from like vanilla d2 so a lot has changed from what he remembers. practically i'm a new player ( 1 year in with +2k hours) but for me it was a journey of learning from different sources, mostly from youtube creators (good info material but mostly outdated) by this time i can claim i have a decent idea what and how d2 works, but your video it's a fresh and intuitive addition that from my point of view it's very welcomed (this days it's difficult to find a veteran to teach you the ways, understandable, they enjoyed and burnout)

I havent played since stasis came out and even then i only played long enough to get my hunter and warlock to max level. Just bought the rest of the dlc on sale and now im trying to figure out what character to run with my first playthrough of the dlcs since they are all the same level now. Also would you recommend saving old year 1 weapons in my vault or just clearing them since they arent on par with other weapons?

If you go to the Hall of Champions you can get a chest next to Shax that has an armor set and weapons that are 1810. Takes only 1 minute.

Returning after 5 years it’s a massive change to the game for people who haven’t played for such a long time it’s basically a new game or it feels like that right now anyway, currently working through nightfall campaign then will get stasis aswell then I feel it’s time to go onto other quests and catch up elsewhere

complete weekly challenges for powerful and pinnacle gear. once u hit 1800 power only pinnacle gear & seasonal artefact levels will increase your power level.
weapons are situational. learn what each perk does & stay up to date with the meta by watching youtube videos about the patch notes
@@qAnon118I am confused. I keep seeing ppl comment about getting to 1800 like it’s a grind. I came back after years. Like just after red war. And one of my quests was to go to hall of champions. When I got there, there was a chest full of gear and a couple exotics that took me to 1800?
Pro tip is you can just decode engrams from riven or zavala to level your character to 1800.
Keep on coming up with this county, to help the new guardians and the noob guardians

As a returning player that last played Beyond Light on PlayStation and ported my character to PC (DLC's don't transfer), it's really a shame that Bungie want me spending like $150 just to get the two new subclasses + Final Shape

I just saw this post 3 weeks out from your post. So you might have already figured this out. If not, You will need to get 5 apex predators and turn them into red borders then craft the one you want. The real truth is that I wouldn’t worry too much about “getting ready” for the final shape. There will always be something to grind for to keep the game interesting. Just enjoy your time and do the things you find to be fun. The gear will come with time.

Cool video..but if you havent played in 3 xpacs it really doesnt apply. So far the only advice ive been given is wait for a Final Shape sale or the new version that has all the old xpacs with light fall. Its strange Bungie makes things so convoluted for people wanting to return or start new.

Welcome to destiny 😂 everything besides the base stuff is locked behind DLC's along with exotic armors and weapons. Lucky for you if you go to G2A you can find the older DLCs bundled together for like $20 usd. The newer expansions might still be a bit pricy.

Genuine question, why return to this game?
I’ve played both games for a total of nearing 1k hours (this is small for some ppl but I had times where I played a fuck ton and other times that were more casual) and this game hasn’t rlly innovated it seems. The mission structure has not changed in literal years. They’re all very similar go farm this, go get this, and go back. Not to mention strikes rlly haven’t changed in years as the modifier stuff again hasn’t innovated in years. Raids, they seem cool but the grind one has to do in order to play them can be a pain for a lot of ppl let alone the money u have to spend in order to get access to some weapons that are the Meta or access to the new raids that are more challenging. Also, it’s a pain for many to find ppl to play with that doesn’t lead to a horrible experience or one that is just a frustrating 4 hours. Speaking of the need to buy DLCs, for many if they’re trying to transfer their account and it’s progress across platforms u have to rebuy every single DLC for the new platform your on which is so fucking bs (if this has changed then let me know). I appreciate destiny CZcamsrs trying to get ppl back into the game easily for the last DLC, but why aren’t we asking the question on why should I invest time and money in this game for a DLC that might end up (like many before them) as just mid asf.
