    If you have group of pawns that you like if you rest in a inn or tavern they will update to the current pawn actual lvl so you won’t have to switch every time you level up just keep that in mind.

    If damage resistances work they did in DD1, a good note for party composition is to make sure you can do some magic damage and some physical damage since some enemies will be highly resistant or invulnerable to one damage type. Covering different elements is also nice but less necessary

  • @TimNewmanGaming
    @TimNewmanGaming Před 3 měsíci +9

    Fighter- Tank and DPS
    Thief- Speedy Combo DPS
    Archer- Range Support/Flier Nuker
    Mage- Healer and Magic User
    Personally for me I'm going to do an all around of one of each base class for starters. Early game might be tough for some so having all your areas covered is probably best with this set up. Later on with Advance and Hybrid mixing and matching is more flexible. And the FF1 comparison is actually spot on. I used that example for the first Dragons Dogma way back when explaining the game to my friends. Lol.

    If you’re exploring and find a riftstone, use it as an opportunity to swap pawn quests you’ve completed, and load your recruited pawns with heavy resources and gear before dismissing them. It all gets transferred to storage so you can keep exploring and conserve those ferrystones.

    An important thing to add is the elemental weaknesses. Having a mage or sorcerer with the right elemental buff capabilities will allow you to target elemental weaknesses of enemies, in some cases dealing much more damage than without (ice vs saurians for example). That is a very important thing to consider with party composition but it's not entirely necessary.
    Also you keep saying "wayfarer" in these videos instead of warfarer, very dumb nitpick I realize but to me it's kind of funny. Thanks for the vids I can't wait for more detailed guides upon release! I've been a fextra fan since the original dark souls wiki they made and I love the channel👌

    Thief (me) + Mage(MP) + Archers + Sorcerer or Tank, depending on what's appealing in the rift at the time.
    I built a thief fallen elf princess as my arisen in the character creator. " Nim'aella " - White Storm.
    My main pawn will kinda be her elder relative, like father or grand-father or such, same eyes colors and birthmarks.
    A mage , " Faen'draugh " - White Wolf . His last act before dying in battle to the ur-dragon, was to transfer his soul to the pawn realm, the rift, with the help of an ancient artifact.
    So that he could continue to be her protector.
    She's the "dagger storm", wild, untamed, and he is the wisdom, her "place of quiet" and trainer for magic (yeah I got a whole narrative in my mind, so ... shush).
    My arisen will probably evolve to spearhand because they also seems quite fast-paced and pretty neat. And it makes sense, as she will be influenced by the magic trainings of Faen'draugh.
    ... omg i'm so involved in this, that character creator really got into me. I still regret that the green vocation tree is not a tree at all, as it's the thief and ... that's it.
    I mourned the butchering of the magic archer , wtf no daggers -> no way José.
    Maybe, ... maybe, i'll tackle the trickster in a second playtrough.

    I love going double sorcerer set ups. Usually Fighter , Mage/Archer, Sorcerers (me and a pawn). I just switch out depending on if I’m doing a big boss fight (archer with consumables) or going through a dungeon/traveling far (mage to conserve curatives and use affinities to diversify damage)

      if you have a team full of sorcs a mage might not even be necessary... because sorcs have a lifesteal spell this time that steals hp and heals themselves so youd only need a way to heal your tank.

    Second will be Warfarer, Sorcerer(MP), Sorcerer(Hired) Mage(Hired)
    Third will be Trickster, Thief(MP), Warrior(Hired) and Mage(Hired)
    I changed my mind about the 2nd team. Warfarer having the ability to multiclass makes it the perfect complement to a Sorcerer strike team. It can be set up as Sorcerer, Mage and Magic Archer or Sorc/Mage/Mystic or Trickster/Sorc/Mage

    I'm glad you mention FF1. Dragon's Dogma feels like the real successor to the NES FFs. The game play loop is actually very close to FF1.
    They made the magic archer a viable healer in DD2 also, so you don't have to have a mage if you're playing the Magic Archer. The magic archer heal is faster but only targets on character, but it's easier to pull off than the mage's heal in battle. I think Mage and Magic Archer both will feel redundant. Remember pawns can't use advanced classes so three party members have to come from Fighter/Mage/Thief/Archer. The ideal pretty much just replaces one of those with your advanced class.

    • @walulu6531
      @walulu6531 Před 3 měsíci +5

    If mechanics don't change from DD1, then having pawns below your level is actually ideal as you'll get +xp buffs depending on how far below your level they are. I highly recommend if you aren't having difficulty in combat as it is a massive boost up to an extra 50%xp earned.

  • @nejiefelipe
    @nejiefelipe Před 3 měsíci +1

    The best party composition that works for me is the balanced type, never get more than 2 on the same range because they can disturb each other in combat:
    Main Character - (always tanker no matter the vocation, monsters tend to go on you so you take advantage of that);
    1 Mage (Main Pawn) - its easier to adjust the main pawn to heal you than trying to find the perfect one on the rift;
    1 Ranged DPS
    1 Melee DPS

  • @paranoyd70
    @paranoyd70 Před 3 měsíci

    All that players need to know is to have a varied vocation Party. You need at least one melee class & one magic class & one bow class. And a Mage is essential cause they excel at healing. Follow this rule & you'll be fine and can adjust as you play on. The melee can tank...the mage provides heals & special damage (lightning, ice, fire, etc) and the bow class deals range. Its literally that simple, but the exact vocation is more nuanced.

    Love the videos Fextra, but I have two questions…
    1.) You mention switching classes. Is there a cost to that? Like Elden Ring you could rebirth.
    2.) Can you change the appearance/name of your character AND your main pawn at any time? Or is it some expensive metamorphosis scroll? I love Elden Ring how you can change everything at any given time.
    I have a lore background for each role, so it would really help me if I could change my character and pawn name/appearance at will.

    • @Yawar25

      1. You can change vocations any time you want. It cost some vocation points, but is a small amount, and after unlocked, you don't need to pay those points again.

      1) it costs a little bit (like 1/10 the cost of a max level skill) to unlock the class the first time. then it's free to switch whenever you want
      2) there is 1 metamorphosis item per run. At barber shop you can only change hair, skin, voice, makeup

    Need to explain to people what ideal character growth is. Balance Health\Stamina stats. I bet the majority of players forget that Stamina is needed for using skills. Some skills use a lot of stamina per skill. Mages are important. In theory - You play yourself as Mage and act as strategist for your team = slow gameplay; You play DPS role and ask mage to buff you before the fight = fast gameplay. It possible to fuck up the character growth for some people who cares about small things. Because no respect is possible in the game.

    Also, players need to do quests and explore zones. This way you pawn will get experience, and people will pick your Pawn more often. Means you will get RC crystals for that, and sometimes gifts from players. Bestiary need to fill too. The more you kill monster with different ways, the smarter your PAWN BECOME. Try different ways to kill it, all elements, all monster parts\limbs if it is big, maybe there is hidden way to kill it. I think Developers did not changed these mechanics.

    I have a few questions regarding pawns:
    1. Can you have direct control over your pawns, like for example, FF7R?
    2. You mentioned the pawns you hire, come with the skills and gear that the previous player equipped them with. Can you change that once you hire them? Can you find better gear for them and equip them yourself?
    3. Your "main" pawn, that you create yourself...can you swap him out, so that you have 3 "other-player-made" pawns?
    4. Since you will be hiring at least 2 additional player-made pawns that will be geared and skilled previously....will this make playing on day one a more "raw" experience (which I prefer)? To explain...I would rather not jump into the game say, 1 month from now, and the only pawns I have available to hire are mid-high "leveled" of "geared".

    • @IlIlllIIIllIIlIIlII

      1. no, just commands: Go, Come, Help me. They are smarter than AI companions in any other game and you can customize their behavior.
      2. you have full control over hired pawn's inventory but can't take items they came with. Can't change their skills.
      3. no
      4. hiring pawns above your level costs special currency, it's meant to be a limited boost. playing DD1 right now there's no shortage of pawns at every level even when I filter for specific skills. You're browsing the millions of pawns that have ever been created

    • @Yawar25
      @Yawar25 Před 3 měsíci

      1. You can give orders, like attack, or retreat, but pawns are totally AI driven
      2. You can't change any skill other pawns have, besides yours. You can change their weapons and armor, but it will consider as a "gift" and you can't recover that piece of equipment
      3. No, you can only hire two pawns besides your main. Also, you MUST need your main pawn in your party if you want to hire other people's pawns.
      4. There will be some pawns provided by developers, so you always will find some pawn besides your level
