  • in todays bali travel video vlog I visit bali international airport where I provide you with a guide and tour around bali international airport and share all the information you will need to know if you are arriving in bali for the very first time. money changers how to obtain a sim card and getting a taxi from the airport/harris hotel to your hotel stay in bali. all information provided in this video is current 2023 information.
    I THINK ALL TRANSPORTATION PRICES FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO ARE HIGHER THAN USUAL. I EXPECT PRICES TO BECOME CONSIDERABLY LESS FOR ALL TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS FROM HARRIS HOTEL
    VIDEO CONTENT: A guide to bali international airport for first time visitors to bali. information provided in this video on money changers, sim cards/data packages/taxi.
    WHO IS THIS VIDEO FOR: this video will offer a useful guide to bali international airport for those whom are first time visitors to bali, indonesia. this video will provide all the information you need to know for all budget types and offer an in-depth guide of what to expect upon arrival to bali international airport in 2023
    MONEY CHANGERS: there are now 4 money changers within the arrivals hall at the international airport all offer exactly the same exchange rates with no commission charges. money exchange rates at the airport are lower than the money exchange rates that you will find at the street money changers in all the popular tourist areas.
    MONEY CHANGERS: Mandiri, Bri, Bni, Btn
    ATM MACHINES: you will find 3 atm machines located next to the mandiri money changer.
    SIM CARD: There are 4 different companies in the international airport arrivals hall offering sim cards & data packages where prices start from 250,000idr.
    4 TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES: XL, Telcomsel, IM3, Smartfren
    OPERATING HOURS OF SIM CARD PROVIDERS: XL STAFF ADVISED ME THAT OPERATION HOURS ARE 07:00AM-03:00AM.
    all international tourists arriving in bali whom wish to use internet whilst travelling around bali will be required to purchase an indonesian sim card. registration of the sim card is required by the company whom you purchase your sim card from, the company will require access to your phone device to install the sim card and register the card, this process will take a maximum of 5 minutes.
    CAN I PURCHASE A SIM CARD OUTSIDE OF THE AIRPORT: it is possible to purchase a sim card outside of the airport however this can sometimes be a little difficult to find because many places sell sim cards but cannot complete the registration process, at the airport you are dealing direct with the telecommunications providers.
    PURCHASING SIM CARD FROM THE STREET: you must be very careful if you decide to purchase a sim card data package from the street as in most instances the deal may seem better on the street than what is on offer at the airport but this is not usually the case as packages bought from the street will not be unlimited packages (unless same price as in airport) it will be split data.
    TAXI: Taxi prices from bali international airport have now become expensive (even for such short journeys), 5 taxi options/booths are available within the bali international airport arrivals area. the first 2 options available Goldenbird & Discova will be the most expensive options available at the airport.
    PRICES FOR TAXI FROM AIRPORT AND CHEAPER OPTION FROM HARRIS HOTEL USING GRAB APPLICATION: ALL PRICES BELOW I CHECKED USING THE GRAB APPLICATION ON MY DAY OF VISIT TO BALI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WHEN MAKING THIS VIDEO THINK PRICES ARE HIGHER DUE TO TIME OF YEAR (3RD JANUARY) I WOULD EXPECT PRICES TO BE LOWER ESPECIALLY ON MOTORBIKE TAXI OPTIONS FROM HARRIS HOTEL. PLEASE NOTE MY PRICES SHOWN ARE TO CENTRAL AREA IN EACH ZONE THEREFORE YOUR PRICE MAY DIFFER SLIGHTLY FROM THE ONES SHOWN BELOW. THIS INFORMATION IS TO BE USED AS A PRICE GUIDE ONLY. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT PRICES FROM AIRPORT & HARRIS HOTEL ARE FOR 1-4 PERSON BIGGER CAR PRICE WILL BE HIGHER

    AIRPORT-LEGIAN: 210,000 HARRIS HOTEL-LEGIAN: 65,000

    AIRPORT-ULUWATU: 364,000 HARRIS HOTEL-ULUWATU: 191,000
    MOTORBIKE TAXI FROM HARRIS HOTEL: I EXPECT THESE PRICES TO BECOME CHEAPER
    HARRIS HOTEL-KUTA: 38,000

    Thank you so much for this tip, Gary! We followed your path and were easily able to grab a grab from the Harris Hotel and saved a lot of money! Worth to mention that we even were able to use the Harris WiFi from the parking as we were not able to buy a SIM card at the domestic arrival. Cheers Mate! Hendrik from Germany

To get from the airport to Mall Kartika Plaza I didn't use any transportation service at the airport, instead, I walked to the main road got a taxi there and paid only Rp15000 which was about 1 USD. I didn't know that things had changed until I saw your video.

    Good stuff Gary, the last couple of times we went to Bali before Covid to avoid the taxi costs we would walk out of the arrivals section and all the shops then take the stairs up to the departure area then walk down the ramp to where the taxi's use to drop off and ask a taxi driver that had just dropped off people for a lift. I suppose that option has been stopped now, we are going back to Bali for the first time since Covid later on in the year.

    • @balibygary9718
      @balibygary9718  Před rokem

      You may still be able to do that however you will have to be very careful because if the taxi drivers waiting in arrivals see that it will cause trouble for the driver & also unless you know the approx price to your destination then I don't advise using this method as there is no transparency in price. Many of the bluebird drivers do not want to use the meter and ask for a fixed price and even if they use the meter they go the long way round and hit all the busy traffic to bump up the metered fair rate. Grab & go car prices are transparent and if using the applications from the Harris hotel I 100% guarantee this will be the cheapest option from the airport. Things have changed in a big way now at the airport with taxi prices.

    • @balibygary9718
      @balibygary9718  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yes have metered taxis but very difficult to get one inside the airport, literally all transport from the airport ask fixed prices. Some people say go upto the departures level and go outside and catch a bluebird taxi from where they drop people off for flight departures, however i don't personally advise this unless you know exactly where you are going and what the price should be. from my 20 years of experience and 11 years living in Bali it is very difficult to find an honest and reliable driver that will use the meter and even if they do use the meter they will take you the long way round and hit all the traffic to bump up the price. Most bluebird drivers ask for a fixed price and it will be in-line with what bluebird charges from their counter inside the airport. Grab & go car are transparent prices ( you know exactly what you will pay)but unfortunately grab have become very expensive from inside the airport now. If you walk to the harris hotel and use the go car or grab car applications from there that will be the most transparent and 100% the cheapest price. If you don't want to buy a sim card then still is best to walk to the harris hotel and just get a bluebird from there and use one that will use the meter. No easy anymore inside the airport.

      I have not being to the airport for a while but I guarantee you will not get cheaper prices than those from the Harris Hotel, I have always used this location, I have lived in Bali 11 years first started coming to Bali 2001, I only include my findings and back it up with proof using the Grab application in the video. People in the comments have told me it is exactly as I say best price was from the Harris hotel. I just use the video to show all options available, the tourist can then choose which option they take. There is also a bus service which can save you money but it is a bit complicated unless you know the streets and areas of Bali and you would also probably need to use a taxi to complete your journey as this is not a door to door service. I plan to visit again in May and update the information. It is not easy to film at the airport because of security. I have just checked on my phone from the grab pick-up point just on the outside of the airport fence to Sanur ranges from 228,000-376,000 depending on car type and size, from Harris hotel for same journey ranges from 72,000 -88,000 depending on car size. I cannot check the prices from inside the airport without being at the airport but they will be the same or probably more than from the Grab pick-up point on the outside of the airport. It is still less than half price from the Harris hotel usimg the grab application taxi even if you could find an honest driver to take you to your destination from inside the airport. If you really know the streets of Bali then the bus from the airport is the cheapest option. If you took a taxi from inside the airport these taxi can take a long time to get outside of the airport due to having to qeue at the payment gate upon exiting the airport you may as well just take the short walk to the Harris hotel use the grab or go app and save a considerable amount of money and also probably arrive at your destination hotel quicker.

      Make sure to message the number before you arrive in Bali because I am not sure if that company is inside the airport i just saw the big banner on the Harris hotel street that displayed all the details and contact info.

    Have read in an Facebook Group that Someone having problems to register a telekomsel Simcard in an iPhone. Do they offer to show you that the Card you buy does actually work in your phone?

      That is why i would only reccomend that you buy the simcard from either the providers at the airport or the actual telecommunication companies offices, buying from the street can be a problem unless you know a trustworthy place. Keep your receipt if you buy from the airport or the telecommunication offices they will fix it if any problems from the street there will be no guarantee. Once they install your sim card you can try it straight away to see if it works

      Glad to hear you got a better deal on the sim card than those at the airport, on my research of sim outside the airport for tourists smartfren was the best deal. Best prices on taxi car and motorbike was from harris hotel. The purpouse of the video is just to show all options available, the final decision on the option to take rests with the tourist😁.
