One of the few Toscas who is quite believable. Behrens was never afraid to get her hands dirty, so to speak. She breathed life into her characters. My only gripe is that she simply can’t negotiate the break in her vocal registers.
Questo spettacolo era meraviglioso. Unica cosa che non andava? Proprio la Beherens. Voce inadatta, sgradevole, pronuncia terrificante. Come si può ben vedere in questa scena, dove risulta fuori controllo al punto d'essere sguaiata.
Now I know how that chair broke when Luciano was sitting on it and she just ran and planted her big body on his knees. The chair busted and off they went rolling around, the audience really thought it was part of the act or extra added to it. In 1992, he had surgery on one of his knee's due to his weight and of course all the women who sat on his knee's.
Behrens was actually quite moving and vocally very competent, despite you using this brief clip out of context to laugh at her. Domingo was his usual vocally brilliant self, turning in yet another uniquely nuanced interpretation of Cavaradossi. MacNeil's voice is especially golden smooth and again, pleasantly surprisingly, he has a few better than average acting moments. The Set by Zeffirelli was epic -- even by Met standards. It drew its own applause, rightly so. It's a true pity that the vandals of today eschew the aesthetics that informed Franco's designs. Paz y salud.

I love miss Behrens as Floria Tosca. Full of passion, rage, religion and love.Very artistic and lovely.
I saw this production live great!

A seriously impressive performance. Surprised youtube hasn't censored this as hate speech and enticement to violence. Wink.
