Except if you've had mice in your home you can't imagine picking one up and putting it in your mouth and getting a bite in before it gets away even if you trained to do it. I get it's a pet and maybe there's a little instructed trust, but those reflexes are insane and the split second it sensed trouble it would be long gone. That 3 year old would never get a finger on it.

He is a very niche comedian, when he is one vs one in the make the other person laugh, it’s his quick retorts that are gold….but in a more structured scenario where his retorts hit less he falls flat

Well, that's actually pretty easy to explain: to be a good liar you have to trust your own story as if it was a truth. But Alan is so good at investigating that he cannot believe his own story, there's just too many devastating questions inevitably popping up in his mind. He kind of every time tells himself: oh man my story is a total bullshit, and there are 101 clear reasons for that.
Alan missed a huge chance to use that story about lightning matches when he's depressed. Nobody would have guessed that was true.
It's probably a lie though.
The cast is really what sets this channel apart. You can tell they’re all having a genuinely good time! They make you feel like you’re part of the gang just by being a viewer. They must have a blast filming! Thanks for the great content!

Nah, not at all. In each one of his stories I could guess whether it was a truth or a lie as soon as he uttered the first couple of words. Imho, he's actually socially awkward and shy, but sometimes manages to hide it under a mask of absurdity. He's a cool and fun guy anyway
