I did get stranded with a dead alternator. The roadside assistence who towed me from a busy highway junction told me i had a dying battery who took the altenator with it in its fall. €100 for the alternator, €70 for the battey and an afternoon of wrenching did the job. Thanks to the many yt films there are!!🎉

Very useful video thanks! I was able to replace my alternator within an hour. I don’t have experience with repairs, but it was an easy job. I got to do timing belt,aluminum radiator,waterpump next. Probably going to the shop for that.
do it own your own ! it’s not too hard im in the middle of doing it now. only thing that sucks is some of these pensky nuts are a little tough to remove since they haven’t been touched in like 30 years
You can reach everything you need to access the alternator without having to remove anything from the bay, same for accessing it from the bottom.
Any advise new alternator new battery on 1997 mx5 .next morning battery flat,Totally Empty.

Great video, is that the alternator from a 1.8? The belt seems different than mine
No 1.6, w/ an OEM 1.6 V belt. If you get a belt from the parts store they're usually ribbed. They work fine but OE on the 1.6 is a smooth v belt.

Should I replace the alternator on my Nb if the belt begins to squeak whenever I turn on the headlights? I just replaced my belt for it and it keeps on squeaking whenever I turn on the headlights/ac.
That 's alignement and tension. Babypowder might help. No joke
I’d check the tension, sounds like the belt needs to be a little tighter.
Had the same issue tightened it up a little and it went away

I can promise you about the thumbnail: it is really definatelly an alternator 🎉 the picture is from the back of an alternator and it looks kind of 2 dimensionale so almost straight from above...
