These sarees are cotton ones made on a power loom, Diya. Handloom made sarees cannot be massed produced as artisans knit them painstakingly for days.

Lovely lovely vlog. Someone said authentic and raw and i second that. I know nothing about kolkata but you showed us what a typical Bengali family is like,the home cooked food,the kitchen and cooking,street food,shopping,sarees,language,parents being their natural selves ,the authentic ,no frills home etc etc. LOVED IT

To be honest, I was born and brought up in a small town called Haflong in Assam. But few years back, my parents decided to relocate to Kolkata for better medical facilities. And now, this is home. Since they have shipped everything from my ancestral home to here in Kol. It’s easier to visit them now, then before where I had to change many means to reach home.
Home is where heart is, is indeed true. Home is where my parents live. 🙂

Its so difficult to travel alone without kids but ur luckiest for that as your husband took care of them. After seeing your old tv i remember my home as my dady also not changed tv which is a TCL.
