For example, interactable stage object, story mode interlude & unique customization items. This video is just my thoughts of what should return in the next Tekken, feel free to share your opinion!

What we need back in tekken 8:
1. An actual story for each character like tekken 5
2. Tons of customization options like tekken 6
3. Big and unique stages, tekken force mode from tekken 4
4. The ability to choose to play tag mode but perhaps not as a main mode from tag tournament series

Combot from Tag2 was dope. I mean.. a Tekken character with customizeable moves? What were they thinking not bringing that back?
I think a tag mode would take away from the hype of a well deserved Tag 3.
But if they did a team battle/assist mode similar to Kof that might be better for now. I dunno

I don't understand why the "Tag" isn't another game mode in Tekken 5-7, i'm still baffled that they made it a spin-off instead of a default game mode. People say that Tag games are unbalanced or whatever, that doesn't mean it isn't fun to just play. Tag battle incentivizes the players to main 2 characters, which is a good thing.

I agree about bringing the moving 3d models back to the character select screen. Technology is much faster now than a PS3/Xbox360 that it could handle it without getting annoying.

@@uhobme2028 Yeah and when Tekken 7 came out with them I remember people criticizing them for being too expensive. It still annoys me I had to pay for legacy characters. Tekken 8's amount of content is going to be a big determining factor if I buy the game at launch. Otherwise I will wait and buy it used.

And honestly they can go the Smash Bros route of having dynamic stages for a more casual experience and standardized/flat version for competitive use
@@cmpork7145 I was just going to say they likely wouldn't bring them back as they're a nightmare to balance for competitive, but this seems like a good compromise. I'd be happy to have some massive/dynamic stages like in tekken 4, which could just be removed from the pool for competitve. They'd probably be absent from ranked too, but maybe you could have them as an option for casual online play.
@@Necromitzu1 or have the stages available with both dynamic and competitive variants when it comes to the levels with unorthodox environments. With the mod's I've seen with Tekken 7, the devs are capable of doing such a feat. Would hate to see comp and ranked be played on the same few stages like how Smash does despite having frickin Omega and Battlefield versions
Yes. It's a shame that TK devs have been denying the game the potential to evolve its stages only because of the competitive aspect. Actually there are fairly old solutions to this matter. A new fg that had the same innovative stage design direction of TK4 could do great things with the recent technology.

1:23 - By far the best stages in the franchise, you actually felt that you were fighting in those locations instead of a empty box.
Sadly it's changed due of different level of hitboxes. Affects damages.

The stages in Tekken 4 are the most revolutionary. If those could be brought back, with proper character and surrounding physics, that would be great.
The problem would be balancing. They were removed for a reason in the first place.

@@harlannguyen4048 I hate that games now are so balanced around competitive. Just limit the competitive map pool to a small number of maps that are different enough to be unique. I miss the times where you'd play fighting games for fun instead of playing it to beat someone else. That's the main reason I loved Tekken 4 and Tekken Tag 1. Beating up the ai was so fun.
@@harlannguyen4048 or just lock all the stages that are interactive, and leave all the balanced stages during online gameplay. As far as I remember it's even better to have interactive stages than having plain and dull squared, hexagon, etc. stages.

Dragunov dragging the horns of Devil Jin was the most metal and badass cutscene Ive seen in Tekken.
Harada knows that Tekken 7 has revived the franchise very well, and Tekken 8 seems to be the most promising of all, even with the return of iconic characters from the past: Jun kazama/unknown, Ogre Or another of the same race
We definitely objects in stages like t6 and an open stage like the mall in t4 for the new Tekken
if open stages are as busted as they were in t4 then that's a big no no

The Tekken series has always been a master of comedy whilst keeping a straight face. An aww, 0:24 was surprisingly adorable.
0:38 - The degree of customisation Tekken has is impressive... which makes it rather funny that it is all customisation for the base characters, rather than a create-a-character system.
1:11 - Gosh though, that game over scene is surprisingly creepy. The transition is fantastic.
I truly believe Tekken 8 will bring a lot of personality to every aspect of the game
With Tekken 7's success they'll have a bigger budget to make it even better
I think 8 will have loads of content due to how well 7 did.
1. I want a REAL arcade mode or story mode with 10 stages, interludes and CGI endings not in game models.
2. Deep customization like 6.
3. A beat em up mode like Tekken Force or Scenario campaign with dialogues.
4. Real online servers that punish rage quitting noobs. Like Street Fighter 5.
5. Cross play.
6. Legacy skins for legacy characters.
No. It'd be way better if endings look the same as in game models as the game will look great and it's lazy and slap to the face that make the game look worse than the endings.
T6 Player Select screen was dope because the camera angles were different for each character if you waited for the models to appear as if it was tryna tell a story on how you approached them...
Hope they will bring it back.

T7 has gameplay, but it lacks SOUL, we need it in T8
I agree. Tekken 7 has traded off it's arcade-game charisma and charm for dramatic cinematics. Not that the cinematics are bad, but it's too big of a tradeoff to have when the game's been a big-name arcade fighter for the longest.
I think Tekken Team can make "Street Fight Mode" where the stages are like on Tekken 4 and then we all also need fighting on the road where cars can hit sometimes
These are the reasons why I feel Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is better Graphically and content wise on T7, gameplay though T7 is better, but yeah we need these fun mechanics back.
T7 in raw graphics looks better but the atmosphere and filters of TTT2 look so much more better. Just look at twilight conflitct in t7 and compare it to ttt2.
At least give us options like in smash
@@jspantonio8807 the models themselves are literally lower quality than tag 2, from what I heard its because they fucked up some LOD setting when porting the assets over to unreal engine but tag 2 is in all regards better graphically than tekken 7

Nothing beats it and I don’t mind if we have all the exact customizations back from that game.
Part of what made it so great was the granularity. In Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7, you can only change body clothes in terms of tops and bottoms. In Tekken 6, the parts you could swap out were different for each character, but some would let you swap out gloves, arm wear, inner layers, outer layers, shoes, pants, and sometimes more, all separately. And the clothes actually fit the characters well and looked good, instead of being bulky generic stuff or joke items that get tired after three matches. They were created with the same care as the default and alternate outfits, sometimes with really cool details. For instance, Lei can equip flip flops that actually flop, rather than acting glued to his heel like most games would've done. Or Devil Jin equipping this beastlike face with a very different mouth shape, but it still moves and emotes, giving the impression that its real and not just a rubber mask.
Tekken Tag 2 unfortunately stripped back a lot of the unique items and simplified the granularity, opting instead for a bunch of generic sets for tops and bottoms. I sort of get why, given the sheer number of characters they had to deal with, and the desire to make matching customizations for teams, but there was a distinct difference in quality between default outfits and customized ones. It did at least add a few things, like decals (removed from T7), and the pandora's box of full color customization (at the cost of unique materials and patterns offered in some of Tekken 6's items,). They also added a lot more options for custom hair, albeit also stripping out asymmetrical bangs customization and the combed-back hair base. Still, better than Tekken 7 outright gutting the system and offering a handful of tacky prefabricated hairdos made from its remains.
Tekken 7's only excuse is coming off the back of Tekken Tag 2's lacking sales and moving to a new engine. They seemed to latch onto Tekken Tag 2's ridiculous number of joke items and run with that. I hope they do much better in Tekken 8.

Yeah this needs to happen. Tekken needs to tap into all the available the fighters and their personalities more. Shoot, look at other games like MK, Blazblue etc, the characters say different intros depending on who they fight, they have different voicelines during fights, this would flush out alot of personal feels to the fight. You're 100% right.

All this shit is what made Tekken what people remember it for! It's all amazing and cool and I was super bummed to realize they're not there in Tekken 7. I wish all of these come back for T8, the fun game modes, the customization options (!!!), silly boss fights, interactions, EVERYTHING! They're the only things missing to make Tekken truly one of the best games out there. A perfect balance of a game taking itself seriously and not at the same time

For the love of god I hope the customization is at least equivalent to Tag 2, that samurai ponytail was my favorite, even the thin braided one.
I'm hoping we get a create a character mode where you can add movesets onto them, have them only available to use online in a Special Casual matchmaking area, similar to how Soul Calibur 4 had a Special Versus mode online.
Picture a unique looking character with Kazuya's wr Twin Pistons, Bryan's b4, Feng's Kenpo stance, Steve's wr 2,1 etc.
