  • A lot of you have asked about installing a pedal assist sensor on the upgraded 48 volt Super73 Z1 even though, personally, I'm not that into pedal assist. I actually prefer using only throttle. But after some research and troubleshooting, we did, reluctantly, install a pedal assist sensor. In this video, we'll take the Z1 for a test ride and discuss our first impressions of using pedal assist. #super73 #super73z1 #ebike

    I got into e-Longboard because of you and upgraded by Chinese Longboard. Now I'm buying a super 73 because of You! You're bad for my wallet, but great for my health. Was wondering if you'd be able to add pedal assist to the stock z1 or do you need to do the upgrade to the 48v battery and LCD screen? I'm not too worried about full speed as I only bike to run with my dog and only need to go 15 mph for him to keep up. Thanks for making all of these amazing tutorials for years.

    Most of these are universal on setup screen. Depending on the control module, in the settings you should nhave a few options for the throttle when PAS is equiped. On most, I believe its the c4 line in the settings screen. Setting that to lvl3 gives full throttle control. This overides the PAS no matter what PAS lvl you're on. That also keeps the trhottle accessible even when PAS lvlv is set to 0. This may work in your case. Hope it helps.

      Not really, I feel like it pushed the motor much harder than using throttle. I actually took it off because I prefer throttle only.

  • @BillReinhardt
    @BillReinhardt Před 3 lety +4

    I'm glad you mentioned the throttle sensitivity compared to the PAS. I noticed the same thing with my throttle... that there was no easing into it. All or nothing, for the most part. I'll pick up this PAS for those moments when I want to truly dial in my speed, instead of just juicing/coasting with the throttle.
    Regarding your comment about how the PAS has somehow reduced the throttle sensitivity... I wonder if that has to do with the C1 setting? You now have it set to 3, which I believe is "standard" sensitivity for PAS. Values 0-2, I think, are higher sensitivities for PAS. C14 also influences PAS sensitivity (so many settings...) These settings could be influencing the throttle as well? Just a thought, not sure if its true.
    Also, putting your C7 at 1 will allow cruise control. While moving at the speed you want, hold the down arrow for about 3 seconds and a "CRUISE" will appear on the screen.

    • @RunPlayBack
      @RunPlayBack  Před 3 lety

      Hey Bill! Yup I changed up the settings so I believe it was C3 set to 0 that reduced throttle. I changed it to 8 and suddenly I had my full throttle power back on any PAS level. Good tip on the cruise control although I think I'd be too nervous to use that where I live. :)

    @CyrilMarsaud Před 3 lety +1

    There is a PAS sensor on the European ZG but the connector is a 5 pin :(
    I have ordered the same PAS sensor for the new controller. Do you think it is easy to remove and swap the sensors ?

    • @RunPlayBack
      @RunPlayBack  Před 3 lety

      It might not be as easy as plug and play. You will most likely have to splice open that 5 pin and try to see which wires will match color wise. Unfortunately I've never done this before so I would only be guessing which colors to connect.

    What was the settings on ur PAS?

  • @BillReinhardt
    @BillReinhardt Před 3 lety

    I installed the same part yesterday. I'll definitely need some thread lock for the crank arm bolt. You were not kidding about putting that bolt on gently as a semi-snug fit will be too tight for the sensor and the sensor will not work. The bolt started to come off as I was riding because it's a fine line between tight and loose.
    Also worth noting that the stock crank is useless after 15mpp. I'm interested in your 46T crank so pedaling is useful at 20mph. Any brand you can recommend?

    • @TheLionsDen72
      @TheLionsDen72 Před 11 měsíci

      Best thing to do is to replace the bottom bracket. You need a 118 to 127. This is the length of the square bottom bracket arms. That will give you. Ore space for the PAS and your crank arms to fit properly. You def. Want those crank arms to be on nice and tight. A crank arm coming off while at speed will result in a very bad day.

      indabebe 23" seemed to be a more accurate representation of the fat tire for MPH. I believe its measuring standard bike tires which are thin. The Z1 tires are 20" but heavier than standard so rotation is slightly different.

We're only familiar with Super73 having presence in the US (super73.com), and also in the EU (eu.super73.com). If you're outside these areas, you can also check with your local electric bike vendors/shops and see if they have imported or plan on importing them. Hope that helps!
