Rebecca is a passionate Singer-Songwriter/Vocal coach/mentor /impressionist/photographer/creative junkie /self- development lover not a hater.
“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well, maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also, thank you for all your support. Rebecca, love watching your videos, and I'm honored to be used as a vocal coaching guinea pig. I learned to sing by recording George Michael and NKOTB songs off the radio onto cassette tapes. Seems like this is the new and improved version of that! Love your technical insights, as well as the wicked mouth popping noises at the top of your intro.

Marc Martel is such a kick ass performer. Not only does he sound like Freddie naturally but he is a multi-instrumentalist and an all-around great dude. Had the honor of seeing him with Black Jacket Symphony performing “A Night At The Opera” and damn- he kicks ass. Freddie is proud and smiling down from Heaven.
I've also had the pleasure of seeing him perform with the Black Jacket Symphony. Simply amazing!

I very rarely watch people singing covers, especially when they try to mimic the original artist but this guy is so good that I found myself watching some of his stuff. He is definitely fantastic at recreating Freddie's sound and style!
He actually started covering more Queen because everyone said he sounded like Freddy, not the other way around :) so gifted!
He usually sings in christian gatherings I think, and he had a christian rock band Downhere for 12 or 13 years. People kept telling him he sounded like Freddie, to which, Marc thought.. “who is that guy? He is making me unoriginal”
Until he researched and came to know the band Queen. Wayback in 2011 (or 2010 or 2012), Roger Taylor (Queen’s drummer) held a contest to form a tribute band for Queen. Marc Martel auditioned (watch his Somebody to love audition). People thought he was just lip-syncing so near the end part you will hear Marc sing the line “this is the guitar soloooo” (pertaining to the electric guitar rift solo)

If you want to listen to their best recordings, I suggest their 2016 concert for Freddie’s 70th birthday in Montreaux. There is another one that’s very recent, where the Tribute band’s drummer Tyler Warren sang some of the high parts of Another one bites the dust (just like when Roger Taylor would do it at times)

Love Of My Life is probably my favorite Queen song because the beginning has that beautiful classical flair at the beginning with the quick secession of cords; Marc Martel absolutely nailed this so perfectly.
Whenever I try to use vibrato I sound like Peter Griffin having a laugh attack. Or like someone's molesting a sheep. But it's my vibrato and I'll inflict it on anyone I choose.

Every sine time I watch Marc Martel videos, my eyes tear up because he's like the second coming of Freddie Mercury, he obviously lives and respects the music and Queen (one of my favorite bands of all time), and it reminds me of how much I miss Freddie.
Freddie would be proud of Marc for keeping his legacy alive both him and Freddie are so talented and I love your reactions to his Queen covers it's so interesting to see. Also great Kermit the frog impersonation btw.

I think this is one of the most perfect impressions of this beautiful Queen song. If you see how Marc Martel sings, and how he uses his voice you would believe he was a son of Freddy Mercury. Unfortunately he was not chosen to be the next singer of the band, which he would have deserved in full.

I have been searching for years and years for someone to sound so close to Freddie. Marc is definitely satisfaction to my ears and my heart. I didn't get to experience Freddie while he was still living as he passed a week after I was born so having someone like Marc is a blessing to me.

Marc’s normal singing voice sounds so much like Freddie it’s insane! When he had his own band and came off stage people would say you know who you sound like and he’d finally just say I know Freddie Mercury. He truly does. He’s fantastic!

I’ll say it again. This dude is just amazing. He is a fantastic singer and so uniquely suited to do Freddie’s songs. And has clearly practiced the shit out of getting that sound. He is freaking good, man.

I watched Bohemian Rhapsody last Saturday and I literally cried in the cinema and now I see this and cried too... Marc is a wonderful Singer, I‘m following him for a long, long time and i‘m glad they brought him here for Bohemian Rhapsody
I was going to say, "If you closed your eyes, you'd think that was Freddie singing", however, even if you leave them open, you'd _STILL_ think it's Freddie. It's uncanny how much he sounds _AND_ looks like him.🤨🤔
Great compliment for an artist " shut my eyes and hear and see another" that's what every real artist wanted to hear. But as you see him as an imitator it's a big compliment.
@@HundXanthippe even with his own music, people close their eyes and hear Freddie, so no, not an imitator, but a sound-a-like. This does not take away from him as an artist at all, but it is part of his identity. Think Luke Spiller, Justin Hawkins and Mika - they also have similarities to Freddie.
When was the last time he sang his own music on stage? He's like the student who copies the work from the top of the class and poses as this "creator" and can fool people for a while. But that's not for eternity. Unlike the other Queen satellite, he has musical skills that AL can never match, so why not use them. For me he is wasting his talent.
@@HundXanthippe what a gatekeeping thing to say. What do you do for a living?! Are you able to do EXACTLY what you want all the time? Most (excellent) musicians can't rely on their own art to make a living. There are a thousand reasons why an artist has been successful, much less a legend, and things have to line up exactly right, and every one of them has a different story to tell. Tribute work is a legitimate form of entertainment. Might not be the most exciting or laudable career, but maybe Marc's feeling fulfilled this way. He definitely moves people, makes people cry in happiness and has people knocking down his manager's door, err...filling his inbox, shall we say.
Do you enjoy his original work? Would YOU go to his concerts? If not, and I doubt you have or would, as you're a hater on YT. If I'm right, I don't think you have anything to say.

I got to meet Marc last month and saw him in concert in my city. He's such a great guy in person, and his performance live is incredible. Also, LOVE LOVE your reactions Rebecca! You're adorable :)

This is one of my favorite Queen songs. I remember listening to them before they became popular in the States (mid-70's). I worked as a theater projectionist back then and remember playing Queen during intermissions, which brought disdain by some but compliments by others. It wasn't your typical movie intermission music.

Bear in mind that we are here to see your reactions, if we just wanted ot watch Marcs performance we know how to do that. So we have gotten used to weird breaks and pauses, and have come to expect them. As for Marc. I hope to be able to see him when he is in my hometown in April, because I believe that hs is a force all his own and is a great cover artist of a variety of styles and subjects. For instance his cover of Buckley's cover of hallelujah is amazing.

You take my breath away literally brought me to tears the first time I heard Marc sing it. And a few more times after that. 😂 Its a gorgeous song and he sings it in such a beautiful way.
Someone has a huge crush on Marc. Just kidding...lol And why not. He brings so much emotion to what he sings that you can't help but pause and feel your heart pumping. He is not Freddie, he is Marc. But they both have the God-given gift to move people with their singing. We need so much more of that today cause the music today, I'm sorry it sucks.

I agree that this song definitely got overshadowed by others on the album, and it's a shame because it is so beautiful. I saw Queen + Adam Lambert in 2016, and to perform this song Brian May sat on the stage alone with an acoustic guitar and played it, and at the end of the song a recording of Freddie joined in, and it was just so beautiful it made me cry.
Rebecca thank you so so much. I don't know how many times i've heard Freddie sing this from concerts over the years (I could find nuances in different live recordings to pick which show it was played it on some tracks) and live its always Brian on guitar and Freddie singing, that i think people forget the original recording was just Freddie on the piano. Marc, once again, does an absolutely beautiful rendition of this. If he tours around NZ again i'll definitely go to see him again. The song truly reveals how much Mary meant to Freddie.

i lay down on my bed, headphones on and relax starts: this is the way to listen to the music i love. time ago i saw a video when Marc was singing "Somebody to love" and was very lucky to have found him: Freddie is not replaceable but in this case you are the only one who can sing Queen songs in a right way, no matter who's Adam Lambert (i really hate him) cause his voice is something can't be accepted by a Queen fan: i want only you, continue this way, please. and thank you for letting Freddie's songs live long after he left us.

There’s no foot that will ever properly fill shoes like Freddie’s. Marc is great, but he’s missing the moves. Adam is just a pop star for hire. I prefer Marc over the two though.

@Dean Amil You fail to realize that Brian May and Roger Taylor do not want a Freddie Mercury soundalike to perform with. That they have for the Queen Extravaganza which was put together by Roger Taylor.
They want a singer who has many personality similarities and traits that fit in with what and who Freddie was that fits in with what Queen is all about and who also has his own individuality to bring something fresh to the songs. They also go on to say that even Freddie couldn't even hit those high notes night after night like Adam does.
I also do think that Marc Martel is incredible.
Marc by his own admission is a "Vocal Impersonator" who also goes on to say that he thinks Adam Lambert is an incredible choice for Queen.
No doubt they are both incredible.

Freddie Mercury I've seen Marc in this year (2020) I've never known or seeing March on CZcams or anywhere, but I remembered very clear, Freddie is Marc. I just cannot believed myself when I saw Marc, he has the same gesture with Freddie.

As a Queen fanatic and heard every single thing Freddie has done I can pic Marc out quite easily. Marc is fantastic and sounds a lot like Freddie but still lacks power in certain aspects of his versions of some songs, saying that it's just a quibble, his tone is slightly higher in my opinion. I still think if he were to replace Adam people would still compare him to Freddie and give him a hard time maybe not as much as Adam has had. Marc's own material is great and I personally think he should promote that more than covering Queen songs, he is much more of an artist than a cover artist. Marc we love you no matter what you do.

I love watching your responses. I can tell just how much you truly love music by your facial reactions. I hope you get to check out marc's new performance of who wants to live forever. He really hits that one out of the park..so emotional.
Those few who are saying that he is mimicking or impersonating Freddie are offending Marc. Just listen to his other non-queen songs and you'll hear Freddies voice. Even, when he mimics Pavarotti, he cannot completely remove characteristics of Freddies/his own voice from it.
By the way the last two remining Queen member's love and respect for Freddie is highly suspicious, in view of the false picture of Freddie they're trying to paint in the BR movie. Self centered guys using Freddies genius for their own promotion and at the same degrading him and diminishing his superior place in Queen. Queen is Freddie first then ...............the rest of the band. They don't want to have Marc around bringing back the spirit of Freddie and pushing THEM off the pedestal. With Adam their position is safe. Nobody cries when Adam sings Queen, when Marc sings tears are flowing because people who love Freddie have a unique opportunity to experience his voice again. He suddenly causes the love for Freddie an nostalgia inside the listeners to be quite overcoming in many. You can witness it on the videos with the reactions to his renditions and reaction of people at his concerts.

relaxation is the key to doing anything musically decent. Instruments require that level of relaxation as well, otherwise you mess up and fumble all over the place.
