What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Belic, fresh off the boat from Europe. It's the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. This game was released 4 years after San Andreas. Most people don’t see it now, being almost 14 years ago, but this game set the benchmark for every other video game at the time. The entire architecture was revolutionary itself. Rockstar Games were the biggest hustlers of the 2000s, sad to see times change but that’s part of growing up.

kind of, I know a lot of people were disappointed that it scaled back A LOT on open world stuff to do, coming from San Andreas, but now looking back in 2022, I think GTA4 might have had the best single player story/content ever, especially with BOGT and LAD expansions.

I remember that my friend invited me to his party and his little brother had a brand new PS3 and GTA 4. He let me play and I was amazed for all the things that you could do, specially that the character had a cellphone.

Yet you'll see San Andreas fanboys calling GTA 3 "revolutionary" and GTA 4 "outdated", fucking punk-ass punies. Had we had the tech we have today, GTA 4 would be a more complete, bigger game than R* pushed out.
I still play it all the time and it has much, much more depth than the money-minting, arcade style GTA 5. I played 5, don't get me wrong. But a story with depth will triumph over better graphics for me any day. Despite some of it's irritating features, I still find GTA 4 to be Rockstar's best work, right behind RDR2.

Despite the revolutionary GTA IV,
GTA V got more hype on its release for some reason.
The story was much more vapid and generic American Action movie, which is more accessible than the gritty, dark and unwelcoming tone of GTA IV. A shame, too, because even though the city was smaller in IV, it felt more alive and real and less factory-made than V.

After watching the GTA VI trailer I came to see memories of GTA IV, something is definitely missing from that game.
Fr. after watching that trailer i came here to watch every single gta trailer. every single on of those trailer got me more hyped than gta vi trailer.
The Official GTA IV TV commercial is the one that always stuck with me and made me insanely hyped for the game back in 2008.
The last one with the song "cry" in it is my favorite. I wasn't even into videogames in 2008 but when I saw that ad on TV I was like, "Fuck that looks really awesome."

This game is a masterpiece, i remember when i was a kid i played it over and over again and it was so much fun. And even now after all these years i downloaded it again, and im playing it with the same energy i did have when i was a child.
It's extremely fun to drive in GTA 4, but most people don't know how to drive and therefore don't like the game. Most people are not able to understand why this game is so good, I feel happy to feel the energy of the city, the energy of the game, this game is divine.

I was so excited for GTA V when it came out, and everything about the game is done really well. Hell it even gave me want I missed from GTA IV, which is a bigger world and more activities, but for whatever reason, I couldn't get into it. GTA IV just has so much more heart and a unique identity to it. I don't think I'll ever be able to stop playing this game.

Bruh.. the king ring trailer was the trailer I showed my mom as a kid while my aunt, her husband and my uncle was sitting next to her. From all trailers, I thought this is the one I should show my mom to make her understand why I need this game. I'm still surprised that she actually bought the game for me after all that. My aunt tried to tell her that this has way too much realistic violence and s-content in it but thank God, my mom is not a Karen😂👌

I can't believe how low the quality is on these. Even for 720p. I can barely make things out like the roller coaster. It's so bad that I'm having a hard time believing we actually watched it like this 16 years ago. Surely Rockstar has higher quality renders of these. If not then could somebody remake them in 4k? OR could Ai be used to upscale them?

Oh man, i just remember the fucking HYPE surrounding this game. Proper masterpiece. My favourite of the series, with SA close behind. This was just grounded, dark, gritty, depressing, they got the tone SPOT on.
This was way better than GTA 5 the story had so much to do!
