  • The Tay is the longest river in Scotland and the seventh longest in the UK. It’s crossed by 4 bridges, the Tay Rail Bridge, the Tay Road Bridges, the Friarton Bridge and the Perth Bridge.
The Tay Rail Bridge crosses the river between Dundee and the suburb of Wormit in Fife and spans 2.75 miles (3.5km). The Tay Road Bridge crosses the river from Newport-on-Tay in Fife to Dundee. It’s just downstream of the Tay Rail Bridge and is around 1.4 miles (2,250m) long. The Friarton Bridge is a steel box girder bridge with a concrete deck and the Perth Bridge is a masonry structure of 7 arches carrying pedestrian and road traffic.
