  • One day I woke up and decided to try figure skating, mainly because it was a sport that didnt require running. Here's my progress so far! Thank you so much for watching, see you in the next one.

    i’m currently starting ice skating lessons at 14, and this really gave me a lot of motivation!! i was feeling unsure since i felt i started too “late” but this showed me that anything’s within my grasp :) thank you and i wish you the best of luck!!!!

      Ik I'm not the creator of this but congrats on starting. I wish you a very awesome journey:)
      Honestly the pro of starting later is that most likely your feet stopped growing already so you dont have to buy new skates like very few months😅

      Don't Worry! You definitely have not started too late! I am currently 15 and turning 16 in 2 months. I started figure skating as a guy with some years of hockey experience, and figure skating threw me completely out of my mental state! Best of luck to the youtuber who made this video and you for trying out ice skating! Never feel afraid to try out new things!

I have a halo so people expect better from me once skating starts up again😀😀😭😭

  • @tinapourshirazi2471

    That’s crazy! I started staking when I was 18. I’ll be 19 in like a month. And I’m barely getting the hang of cross overs without leaving the ice. I’ve learned the lunge and holy smokes stroking took forever for my right foot. Left foot masters everything almost instantly. Tried jumping from a harness (waltz jump. Wow I hate the harness). I was only able to skate 2 times a week for 1 hour a week total. Now that I’m free during summer I’m doing about 4 hours almost everyday (2 hours in the morning and 2 at night). I’ve only been skating for about 7 months now so it’s nowhere close to yours. For me is mainly the fear factor. For some reason when I know how something feels it scares me more the next time I try to do it and then over think it 🥲. My coach is Tiffany Vise (she was famous for landing the first ever quad throw salchow for women’s pair skating) so she gets mad and puts that pressure of getting better. I also do off ice trainings as well and hit the gym after the rink. My ice sessions start at 4:45am 😅

    That’s a lot of progress for 5 months! I’ve been skating since I was six. I went to public session once a week and got a coach, then got another and went twice a week. During the pandemic I quit for 2 years, and I got back on in august 2021. I’ve increased my skating from 2 times a week to 3-5 times a week. Before the pandemic, I didn’t even pass my pre preliminary test yet, and now I’m passing my pre juv and onto Juv. It hasn’t been 1 year yet, but I think I did okay?

  • @Me_______
    @Me_______ Před rokem +5

    I have been skating for 2-3 years. It took me 2 years to get to doing bunny hops with just doing public lessons they are NOT the way to go, I have recently started private lessons and they have helped me SO much. What I’m trying to get at is, if you are just learning to skate go to public lessons! But after you learn how to skate the best option is private lessons. I am so mad at myself for not starting sooner! So if you are someone who is doing public lessons please consider private lessons.

    I’m starting figure skating at age 15 just for fun (I don’t plan to do any competitions because I have anxiety and I can’t handle stress anymore) before this I did ballet, dance, gymnastics, cheer, and tumbling so I have an athletic background and I know what competitions are like and I would rather not do competitions lol.
    Last week I went ice skating for the first time in several years and I was already able to do regular ice skating and simple turns and tricks without a coach and one CZcams tutorial. I have a few weeks before I start adult classes and I’m pretty excited for it.

      you are never too old to start anything and i know that’s what everyone says but it’s true. i started skating February of this year when i was 14, and i don’t mean i did it on and off when i was younger. The first day i set foot on the ice with the intent to learn was when i was 14. When i realized i wanted to go into skating my goals were essentially just to be able to do cool things. But now after all the sweat and tears that have gone into it, at the end of the day i just am so grateful that i’ve found something that is so true to myself. My favorite place in the entire world is the rink. Yes now I’m able to do some cool tricks but that’s no longer what this is about. At the rink I found a second family, I’ve surrounded myself with great people who push me to be my best self on and off the ice. I think at this point the only thing I wish to achieve is to continue progressing and continue competing. If you ever have any other questions I got you! But the moral of the story is that you just have to get out there and try it.

      Hi! I don’t know about the creator, but personally, after a month or so on hire skates I bought Graf 500s (somewhere just over £100). I’d honestly try asking coaches if you do lessons, they always have good recommandations. Also, if there’s a skate shop in your rink, they will often give great beginner advice too :)
