- Act 1 of Keating! The Musical. Sorry to split it into two vids, but that's how it is on DVD. Vid's not the best quality - what you think we got some sort of NBN or something?
Sorry about the sync - I had to remux the living bejesus out of this to get it in mp4 format. Once I get NBN (lol) I'll try to upload a better version

This did parliamentary rap battles before Hamilton
I came here to say this.
I love Hamilton, love it, but raps about warm lettuce, to me, will always be where it all started.
why is Hamilton lifted up...he laid the foundation for the federal reserve so was against those who wanted independence from the crown.@@deliquescencemusic
"It's Time" is a killer song. So good, Casey!
Saw this live. God it's brilliant. Thanks for uploading.
I absolutely love you! I've been trying to get a hold of this for ages, and you have uploaded it. Thank you my friend!
It's such a shame that the soundtrack is slightly out of sync. As a player in this musical (Acoustic Guitar) it breaks my brain.
And I hear you a lot in #mabo and #ruleroftheland.
My guess it to try and not upset the copyright bots of CZcams
@@adelaidedupont9017 He's a bloody good guitarist. Love that comment...

And when listening to this and the #castrecording from #companyb - Keating brings all the feelings - like anger and sadness and joy and anxiety/insecurity. #irememberkirribilli #daring #defiance #apromiseheoncemade #takethecrown #ironcladalliance
Did the AV fail, he has a 'madonna' microphone and a hand held Oh hang on, maybe one for theatre sound and one for the recording - it was 2016
This recording was done in 2008 I believe...
IF Keating was so progressive why did he listen to Mahler and the romantic works thereof...why not stravinsky or Webern...or Varez...but no..Mahler sounds like wallpaper.
He wasnt a social progressive, he actually started out a very socially conservative mocking the gorton government for employing more women in his maiden speech but eventually he became a bit more of a social moderate and economically he was certainly very much a reformer and someone who wanted progress but not a progressive in the way we think of today
i ARGUED with a fella that the Hawke Keating govts gave us the good economic management....he agreed Keating did these things but claimed Keating was being led by some of the public servants...This may be true but someone has to put their head on the line...he floated the dollar...dropped the tariff wall..deregulated banking and finance and most important was the price and wage agreement between the ACTU and reserve bank....this allowed for real increases of wages...2% for 10 years...then Howard came and ruin that and stole the mantle of good economic management which simon crean and beazley did nothing to stop for fear of the liberals bringing up 18% interest rates...so they said nothing about the good and allowed Australia to believe costello and Howard did the work..@@RealLooktea
and he owned a piggery...some believe these people live long to see the kiddies going on excursion to the pig farm...if you know what i mean...@@RealLooktea
3 things important to Keating. the arts, music, and his legacy.

love this so much...brilliant lyrics and score, but I wonder how many millennials would "get it"?
wait a minute you commented the same dang thing 3 months ago on the other act of this musical. dude really? i'm a millennial
Millennial also, I understood all the references. I am a political junkie though.
I mean the Howard era lasted until 2007... that's plenty of time for Australian millennials to experience his Prime Ministership and become aware of the government that preceded it. And it's not like either Hawke or Keating are out of public life. So my answer is probably most.
@@Woesteinvuir Hawke left public life permanently on the 16th May 2019 and his funeral was a month later. #millennials #deathofthesilverbudgie
As a knowledgeable Gen Z I got it
