Quick little tip for situations like 5:26, if you manage to burst counter enemies straight into downed status, and you mash triangle button fast enough you can actually do the execute in yokai form! Adds a little damage into the execution :D

4:55 just turn right 2 drop downs and right to the boss. Works in twilight mission but maybe regular map doesn’t have it.

Otakemaru also has a ton of them, and you can always finish him in yokai form to get the huge %item drop in yokai shift bonuses. I got like 15 smithing texts before I got my Tonfa Gun. A lot of his weapons come with elements innately which is nice
Text Drops
Here is what he has dropped for me so far as I’m trying to farm for Warrior of the West Bow. Kingo Armor, Diehard Armor , Holy Axe, Ice Berg Hatchets, Odenta Mitsuyo and like to say Water God Slayer as well.

Can't count the times I've died to Shuten Doji spinning his hair around while I'm trapped against the wall and the camera is NOT cooperating. But it's so hard to get him to reposition.
Just dont fight in the courners, whenever you feel like you're gonna get pinned in a courner just dodge to the center.

Really wish this game had a boss rush mode with increased drops but with modifiers like no armor, no magic, etc.

Yeah it should come with the second or 3rd DLC if they follow their roadmap from the first game. But honestly they'll probably put it in with the first expansion or even just an update.

Best builds so far for farming are kunai and omyo combo with amulets that give AAA+ roll to both hoping to see a pure yokai build like in nioh that can compete
Final boss has 20 texts lmao. Cherry blossoms has about 15 to collect too..

This "exit to title screen" works on Otakemaru?
Yup, can farm him until you get a text and then finish the mission. Also make sure you have on item drop rate cores since you can pop your yokai form before delivering the final blow, drastically increasing your drop rate.
at 4:50 you can drop down to the right and follow the path directly to the boss
You should get 1 divine branch for free on any mission to allow you to leave mission in case it was too hard. But in this case it will be used for farming methods
You already have the unlimited use divine fragment. If they gave 1 branch each mission so u can quit for free, then the divine branch fragment would be a pointless item

I'm curious, why not use Luck (Yokai Shift) and Item Drop Rate (Yokai Shift)? Those are the biggest bonuses you can get aside from the Kodama stuff. With Item Drop (Yokai Shift) transferred to a weapon, I have about +37% Item Drop and +95 Luck from those soul core abilities if I end a fight in Yokai Shift. And that's not counting the free +10% Item Drop Rate (Yokai Shift) from the shifting tree.
Edit: For that matter, why Isanagami and not Itokuri? Tea Utensil Drop Rate won't help regular item drops.
This wasn't an optimized farming build, just showcasing the speed run approach, there's a separate video up discussing in depth farming.
Makes sense, just wanted to make sure you were aware so you'd waste as little time as possible. Throwing on Itokuri and soul cores with at least one of those abilities is probably the most low-effort way to prepare for farming.

BTW use a divine Branch to keep items you picked up while leaving to in-game menu instead of title screen, it'll save you from constantly loading through title screens and speed up farming in general. Divine branch is useful for any farming method.
That doesn't make sense. Sure you keep the items but you're still replaying the entire damn mission. You might as well just end the mission at that point.

And I'm saying you're being dumb. Divine Branch ends the mission. If you're going to end the mission, why wouldn't you just end the mission after the boss? You're literally throwing away divine branches and accomplishing nothing.
@@FightinCowboy I do use it after killing boss and I use it because its a bit faster than having to hold circle on the yellow area to end misson, it was my preference and well it's you get 1 free branch every time you start the mission
You don't get free branches on Mausoleum of Evil. You're just using of your branches to save 5 seconds.
Btw, you also got the warrior of the West armor Set Smith Text from the boss in the Mission, The Blazing deamon.

So when u go back to the log in screen do you keep the drops or do u loose them? So let's say u get a text. Do u have to restart the mission for each new text drop or just quit the screen and u keep the existing drop u got.
If you get a text you finish the mission otherwise you lose it

So this is sprat related but not 100% sure. I bought Nioh 2 yesterday and my ps4 suddenly started breathing like the fat kid at the drive through window of a Mcdonald's and turns off. Initialized fully and rebuilt database but still encountering same problem. Anyone else have same issue? Or maybe my hdd has had it?

@@ajxuk-1597 Yeah it turned out my hard drive failed. Got a new one and reinstalled the system update. Fixed the problem but I thought Nioh had something to do with it because it never happened to m beforehand. It isn't even loud anymore.

Does the smiting text drop rate get effected by the different mission iterations? For example does the regular version of this mission have the exact same chances of dropping the text as the twilight version or the ng+ version of it?
I was going to ask the same thing. Seems like if he has the same drops in way of samurai you might as well do it there rather than strong so perhaps he is on NG for a reason.

When you pick up the item, use a divine branch. You keep everything you've picked up.

NG+ all text have a higher drop rate in NG+. Technically everything has a high drop chance on NG+ but thought I'd specify.
Main mission bosses have the same drop when you kill them in a sub mission or you can't get the smiting text??
I don't think Shuten has a submission where you fight him. I think that's why he made this speedrun video for him specifically
To answer though yes, you can still get the texts from bosses and named enemies [mini bosses] when you fight them in side missions.

As far as I know , you can get even rare arts for each weapon as a visitor.
I've gotten smithing texts from enemies and bosses while helping randoms.
Does title screening save loot or just gives a difference chance at rolls?
Resets the rolls like you never fought the boss.

When you quite you lose the drops, the whole point of this is so you can run him over and over until a smithing text drops and then you complete mission to save it.
I dont know why but Doji turned into one of my top 5 bosses in nioh 2.

I did that mission twice and got his low stance combat skill. My first attempt on NG I got his second combat and three smithing texts.
Also I have done the Yasakani accessory drop like 100 times and still haven’t got it.

I dont get progression in ng+ I did 3 missions in the first region and all of a sudden I have up to region 3 unlocked, do I just finish the main missions to progress?
They did the same thing in Nioh-1, Lee. Basically, when the game first came out, (Nioh-1) they made you do the ENTIRE thing again (like every main mission, etc - in NG+), to progress through. The players semi-complained and asked for that grind to be reduced, so Team Ninja Developers made it so you only have to do a certain number of missions (total) in NG+, to unlock the various Regions. So maybe 3 missions on Area 1 and Area 2 will pop open...then 5 in Area 2, and boom - Area 3 is all open, etc. It's designed so your movement through NG+ doesn't require you to do "every single" mission like you probably did on New Game / 1st Run :-)

Have you never played a end game grind before? Monster Hunter, Diablo, Path, Destiny, Warframe. They're all about grinding more and more

I dont like how cartoon like the graphics are. I thought this game was comparable to dark souls? Definitely not anywhere near dark souls standards.
Very different, actually Nioh has way more depth than Souls games in terms of combat and replayabilty.
Disagree on the graphics, but I agree on the overall standard of quality in Nioh being nowhere near Dark Souls or the other similar From Soft games. Nioh is still a lot of fun though. You should give it a try, but don't expect it to give you the same feeling as Souls. It's different. It copies some aspects of the Souls formula but aside from that it does its own thing.
@@MarkHogan994 You mean it's nowhere near Sekiro's quality, i feel like you all forgot how basic Dark Souls really is.. no stances, no combos, same weapons over and over, no depth. Nioh does everything better and then more, the only thing it doesn't have is pvp but considering how bad the actual combat in Soul games was it doesn't even count.
@@Kumire_921 dark souls combat isn't bad, it's different and meant to be slow and calculated. That's not a bad thing.
