before the release of mk3 scorpion decided to take a hiatus from the ring to play a less deadly sport - basketball. unfortunately he kept setting players on fire, so the nba had to put him on permanent leave; thus umk3.

But the best ever hidden characters was for Mortal Kombat on the Mega CD, which unlocked characters from Dad's Army! (seriously)

There is an NBA Jam Sega Cartridge with Michael Jordan on it, but there's only ONE COPY of it in the entire world. The owner of that Cartridge is Michael Jordan himself. Jordan opted out of signing the NBA Players Association Contract that allowed him to be playable in the game which really saddend him but had no choice. If Jordan signed the contract that put him in the game than the NBA could legally beat him in court for his sneaker contract with Nike. That being said Jordan called Midway to tell them he was really depressed that he can't be in the game, and sorry nothing personal. In return Midway suprised him by getting him to come over, record his likeness, and make literally ONE COPY just for him with him in the game on the Bulls. Can you imagine how much that Cartridge would cost? Also how Gamestop would hilariously offer you like 15 cents for it.

Man ive had this game on Saturn forever, never knew there once was MK characters. Although I know Saturns version was in mid 95 so it had newer rosters and newer secret characters the arcade didnt have either, these woulda been sweeet!
The only version with the MK characters were early arcade revisions, which the NBA were not happy with, so they were removed for later revisions.
@@Bloodreign1 the reason because of this.. was black basketball players being set on fire.. they probably thought it was cause controversie.. which was weird because back then nobody gave a sht and weren't offended so easily by videogames.. then again MK games were pretty brutal and nba games were meant for kids so I can see why they would pull em out.

Midway didn't develop nor publish Pit Fighter, that was Atari. NARC was developed by Williams, which acquired and then re-incorporated Midway in 1988.

Hillary, Billary, and Prince Charles, being public figures at the time, were likely legal under US law (though given that video games lacked some of the protections of other art forms at the time, there's a lot of grey area to deal with, but basically, their likenesses could be used for the purpose of satire and parody without issue in most circumstances). However, the Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff are another matter, as celebrities, while similarly subject to fair use, have considerably more room to sue people for unauthorized use of likeness. Of course, it would have gone considerably against Will Smith's personal brand at the time to be seen as *against*, chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool, or playing some b-ball outside of the school, all of which were big components of the NBA Jam series, so it's understandable that he'd have let it slide, assuming he'd even heard about it.
The other thing that kept Midway out of hot water is that these kinds of outlandish secrets were the stock and trade of schoolyard rumormongers back in the nineties, and the internet as we know it today had yet to truly form, so there was no way to tell truth from fiction without playing it oneself. Nowadays, with everything being so easy to record, stuff like that only flies in cheap, poorly-made Steam Direct games that nobody would waste the time or money filing a suit against.

You can also play as Sonya of MK...sort of KER Oct 12 I believe unlocks Kerri Hoskins (cheerleader) who was Sonya in MK3.
Also They Should've Included Undertaker With His Purple Gloves Just Put In UT And Mar 24 Which Is Undertaker's Birthday And You'll Unlock Undertaker

I used to have a Basketball game on Sega that seemed identical to this game, but you could customize the characters heights and weights and the only other thing I remember is playing as a werewolf

That’s not quite true - Yes, Jordan had a one of a kind version of NBA Jam, but it was an arcade cabinet. Midway did a few of these custom cabs for a few other players too, and the baseball player, Ken Griffey Jr. as well! According to reports, there are about 4 or 5 of these cabinets that exist, but the don’t seem to have appeared in the wild at all, not even the original code or EEPROMs.
@@PugHoofGaming yeah I just read up more on it.. Not sure how true but the Arcade1up NBA Jam Edition is rumored to have Jordan's Edition. The developers wanted to release that edition for sometime but said they couldnt.
Ah,cool unlockable characters,it looks fun even if I dont like sports.Maybe I could enjoy this one,it would be fun a remake for Switch and Steam with cool unlockables like a cute and curvy Lola Bunny.
Kids were ignorant back in the day and wouldn't share this info. Just because their parents would let them call those "Hints & Tricks" phone numbers for $3.99 a minute and felt like they were so "cool."
In my day, games magazines and cheat codes were as good as currency ;)

Ok I used to kick their butt and get the code out of them. They would try not to show the hands when they put the codes in, Same when it came to MK 2. LOL
cool, the fatalities were new to me. guess they're not included in the snes version; which ofcourse isn't a surprise^_^
but man, that game! used to play this a lot with my best friend back in the days. countles hours of fun and laughter. so many tears of joy.. and now i'm shedding a sad tear 😢 miss u mate ❤️

The codes are slightly different for all the different versions - I am tempted to do some more videos for each version, if enough people want them.
I still play the version 2.0 rom so I can use the mk characters.

I don’t have one so I honestly couldn’t tell you. If the Arcade1up is based on unedited arcade ROMs, the arcade codes *should* work, depending on the revision they used.

Is there anybody out who can discribe easy what these Shove counters are and second questions theses 1000 and 10000 point challenges how to get this 🤔 Think I already have to reach this but nothing happens, maybe all scores with one team or one player?!? @@davideogameplayer9489 yes but you maybe mean the PS1 game, played the last weeks the the Xbox 360 version and The NBA Challenges 🥵Shove counters I don't even know what this is, but should make 10 in one game, putbacks 10 in a game without dunk, damn my best one was 1-2, Smash the backboard under 2 minutes, impossible, maybe with 2 big dunkers in one team?!? 1000 and 10000 points should be possible when I played with Kobe again, the rest is done... A few challenges are really hard 100 points with one player in one game, proud I did that, the rest Remix tour, each devision, boss battles, steals and so on is done, but 3 - 5 maybe a mission impossible 😳 So I want to ask if there is anybody and can give a tip for me 3 problems, and how the 1000 and 10.000 points can be checked aka in which mode 😉

That had nothing to do with the game though. “NBA Jam Sessions” was an NBA brand completely separate to the game.
