Thinking in practical terms, buying old/ repaired/ refurbished radio receivers is not a wise idea. Since the technology used in these receivers is outdated and the spare parts are no longer manufactured- running them would be next to impossible. You buy a beautiful Philips Valve receiver, recently repaired by spending a fortune - it performs well and suddenly one morning you switch it on and find it dead. You run to the seller he tells you that a Valve has become defective and spare was not available....it could be a resistor or a capacitor or a diode but finding a replacement is a herculean task..
