- Hi everyone!!
Finally a new video again! :)
Sorry it took so long, i was busy with a lot of stuff.. but now that's over, and here i am again!
Last weekend we had a reenactment in As ( Asch ) Belgium, and i decided to make a video about it!
It was hard work.. but worth it!
We were part of the German Wehrmacht, and the allies were coming.. a lot of stuff happened.. too much to explain in the description!
It was a really cool experience again, and i really hope you enjoy this video!!

Yeah they must’ve had the best wedding in the world
It would probably have been the best wedding in the world to soldiers come in with a heavy machine gun
It actually brought tears to my eyes when I saw the townspeople watching your reenactment, they all looked so serious, no smiling or laughing. They probably had parents ,grand parents, cousins etc., who really went through the real thing 70 years ago so, they know the pain that was felt on that day. Very moving......and I think you are a great actor too. Well done!
Some of those Germans need to fix the way they hold their rifles. They’re holding their rifles the modern way...

Nicely done, my friend. My family was liberated from the Germans in Maastricht in September, 1944. It is important that we all remember the sacrifices that were made for us. 106 degrees? When I served in Iraq we suffered 120+ degrees in full body armor and gear. This experience will demonstrate how important physical fitness is, eh? Keep it up. Your videos are awesome!
Thanks! :)
Interesting, and yes.. we willnever forget the brave men who liberated us!!

In a way, that was perfect. Confusion, frustration, stunned civilians, some being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sounds like war to me.
Imagine being in your care home , a retired belgian civilian , just relaxing and next min you see a very familiar Wehrmach soldier and his comrades walking past your window...

I think that before the battle the reenactment members should march through the populated zones and then the police should clear the area where the battle is actually going to take place
Blast from the past
I previously posted a comment on this video, but decided to post a better one. Despite poor communication and organisation from the local police, and that one prat who led you and your comrades on that long march to nowhere in particular in uncomfortably hot conditions, it looks like Asch was a success. I particularly liked it when you and your friend were forced to run after missing the truck in the retreat from the church. I feel like that was just one snippet of the chaos of war; which made it all the more real. Great content as always Nick. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do in 2024!
Too many people watching the re-enactment, I know there’s no real way to stop that except to be rude but the crowd of people in bright civilian clothes kinda ruin the WW2 feel.
What are you talking about? Don't you know that civilians came out to greet the soldiers during WW2? They were always so nice to each other too, no pillaging!
@@HerrZhukov not really why would civilians greet soldiers when there is gunfire, and explosions?😂
@@HerrZhukov wouldn’t make much sense does it?😂
@@HDTRphy I was joking m8
True
11:33 i love the commentary. that's probably how the soldiers actually were thinking at moments like that.
We had a similar occurrence during a WW2 reenacting event here in Ireland, a couple turned up to their wedding reception to find the hotel full of German soldiers, they took lots of photos with us, we're definitely in a wedding album somewhere. Nice reenactment video.
hello i live n ireland any ww2 reenacting group in irleand you know?
@alienxgaming5249 lots of them, mostly small. Watch out for a group called IMVG, most events they attend we are usually there along with all the others. My group is called WWII Airsoft Reenactors.
@@whos-the-stiffYou can’t own replicas or even blanks?
@bennettbush3906 you can, but you have to jump through lots of hoops with the police. I've had friends obtain passes no problem and other friends who've had to go through the ringer to get a pass. One example, we were asked to take part in a photo shoot on the beach where Saving Private Ryan was filmed. Contacted the police to check if it was OK to carry replicas on the day, the cops said yes to airsoft replicas but an emphatic no to Denix replicas ? Why...don't know ?

Nick,
Awesome reenactment! Sorry things got a bit mucked up (and you had to march so long in the heat in full gear!), but it was okay in the end. The reality of war--sometimes there is no reason to continue the battle. Either lay down your shield or be carried out on it.
I'd bet the wedding party was very surprised to have been invaded by the Germans! :-)
Your mom is very beautiful. I know she must be so proud of her adventurous son!
You asked about our favorite tank...I think mine would be the Panzer 1. It's small and very mobile. For a tank, anyway! :-)
I enjoyed the reenactment very much! You and your friends do an awesome job. And I'll check out the book, it sounds like a good one! Thanks for another fascinating video!
Cindy
Thank you so much!! :)
Yes, it all went wrong.. but i'm glad i had the experience!
We were really glad we could surrender.. after so much marching, running, etc.. we could finally sit down in the shade!

Hey Nick! I know that you went through Hell on your day of reenactments, But this video came out fantastic! I started crying when you had to surrender bc your relief truly felt authentic- As for your friend Sarah, next to you, she’s definitely another person that I really admire! Especially bc she’s a girl- Being a WWII enthusiast and being a girl myself, I can’t help but feel kinda odd I guess, cuz let’s face it, It’s more of a guy thing- Anyways, I hope to get her book some time- Well, Be Safe out there, and Keep up the Great Work! You are a Treasure!!
Thank you so much, nice to hear you liked it!! :)
Haha, yes Sara is a really talented young girl with a lot of interest in History!
It's good to see that girls are also interested in this, we need nurses too right?! :D

My grandfather was a Combat engineer with the 1308th Engineering Battalion attached to Patton's 3rd Army's relief column during the Battle of the Bulge. Oh and next time if you know this song I would LOVE to hear y'all sing Erika a german song about a german soldier in WW2 describing his girl back home.
Thank you for keeping history alive. My dad was a 13 year-old Hitler Youth soldier in the Sudentenland in 1945. You don't know how much I would love to be in one of those reenactments. Do you think a reenactment of crossing the Rhine would ever happen? My dear step-dad was a US Army soldier during the war. He crossed the Rhine at St. Goar and his unit, 314th Combat Engineers, were part of the liberation of the Nazi Concentration Camp at Ohrdruf, Germany. I absolutely love your videos. And I love Holland too. Dutch people are so nice to me when I visit Holland because I'm Canadian. I just don't tell them my dad was German and my grandparents hardcore members of the Nazi party

Just for once, i want to experience the feeling, to carry one of the best machineguns ever made on my shoulder.
Haha, yeah something you don't see everyday! :)
You all did wonderful, considering the setbacks you faced!I I used to reenact Wehrmacht as well (after spending a decade in the *actual infantry), and some very brief notes on equipment, if you don't mind: Your gear has to fit, or it will more than double the amount of pain you experience.Your waistbelt, for example, was EXTREMELY loose, causing all the gear at the back to drag way down the moment your rear Y-strap came undone. Bc the Y-straps were tension-mounted, German troops wore them with NO slack whatsoever, and their equipment is always seen high up at the waist, away from the legs, and not the hips. And then check each other from time to time... in the real service, if your buddy's whatever came loose, you would immediately fix it for him, without even asking... it's just understood. Up in the church tower, your friend has his breadbag swinging to and fro from just a single attachment point... I'm not even sure how he could have not noticed this, for it's extremely unbalanced that way. But someone should have fixed that for him, since it was towards the back, and we usually cannot reach behind to fix our own gear very well. Again, it's just somethingthat soldiers in the infantry do naturally, then and now. Thank you for the interesting video, and greetings from California!
He makes it sound real as I like it the photos look like real photos from ww2
German army usually a lot more organised. Would have loved to seen the faces of the wedding party when you guys turned up 🤣 Great video thank you for sharing 👍
