Listening to this in 2019 is pretty funny. "Pepper is done he's a free man" "Natalie Portman is gone" "Do you think she would have been a good lady thor?"
It was strange, too here in 2021!
@@tamapajamas it’s pretty funny hearing them not know who zendaya was at the time too
@@ethanfranzen6145 I don’t even watch euphoria and it’s fan channels snuck into my CZcams algorithm somehow! She’s huge!
wow they correctly predicted Lady Thor and Justin Lin directing a DC film
It's funnier here in the future 2022
James called Jane foster lady Thor 3 years before it was announced
0907GC and they called another matrix movie being made
Yeah but like so did everyone else before Thor 2 even came out?
HOT SCOOP!!!

Tru Dat!
El Reino de Andor I'm gonna crochet this onto a throw pillow!
El Reino de Andor
El Reino de Andor
Irony at its best, sir
2 years later its still true
If you want a topic for an upcoming show, how about an Ultimate Spaceship Showdown? Different scifi spaceships pitted against each other in combat, speed races, coolness factor, which ship you'd want to be part of the crew, etc
YES
Starship Enterprise top 5 easily.
The harambe
Serenity! because... she is home
Best podcast on CZcams. You guys are great to listen to.
The Hobbit wasn't very good but LOTR are all excellent, especially the extended versions.
Does Mason have his own YT channel or something? I could listen to that man talk nonsense and random stuff all day long.
WyrusETS were you on that leafy video?
@@scoobysnacks1793 That's an odd name for Mason to give his channel.
I thought I lost you guys!!! I found you again after about a month of waiting!!! Dx
You mean you only found their channel now?
You can go to weeklyplanetpod.libsyn.com if you want to listen the earliest. Its also the most convenient on mobile.
These are perfect to listen to durning a boring class. THANK YOU!
Get me through coursework all the time
Early week office work for me. Typing up docs (really depressing docs too) and I'm snickering to these two.
After my overnight shift and a good breakfast,
Love the Weekly Planet
during work! :)
Alexander H iii
Best Podcast ever!!!. ......in my opinion.
Its fine your wrong but its fine
***** LOL!
Carlos Mella-Rijo LOL to you TOO!!!
same hear man, same hear...
Same here mate
Thank you guys for doing these. Love listening to them when I'm working!
This podcast gives me joy, love you guys
I want to see Nightwing fight alongside Batman, but not be his sidekick, but I want Tim Drake to be his sidekick.
My most disappointed movies, in my opinion, are Terminator Genisys, Batman V Superman, Iron Man 2, and Fant4stic (Trailers look promising and the cast and crew working on it were talented)
we're you really looking for much in fan4stic??
Caleb Ueckert It looked promising due to the cast and crew looking great. Then, I saw the movie. First half was okay, then it turned into shit!!!
Ring a ding ding, let's predict a thing!
This podcast will be great
Ring a ding ding, I just predicted a thing
+Annoying Nerd this might actually be worse than the "I'm early" jokes. Too bad someone else you know is late ;) ring a ding ding hello abortion.
Wabid Wabbits
At least it’s a joke from the podcast
You give me many joys thanks mate
keep up the good work guys!
I thought "Elysium" was awesome. Great story. Great message. Beautiful design. Great sci-fi.
I know I'm in the minority though....
+Mad Matt it basically jumpstarted (bum dum dum) the culteral obsession with exosuits
I loved the world building and the many design elements taken from classic sci-fi concept art, especially the space station itself.
Also, you know the minute we get cheap bipedal robots that can do our bidding that this might be our world. :P
I fucking love you guys! Your squabbling always make me smile. Makes me want to go explore the land down under!!
Quantum Solice, Spider-Man 3, BvS and Suicide Squad, Age of Ultron (still enjoyable but still disappointing)
I'd like to nominate M. Night as the "Most Consistently Disappointing Director" if I may
"I wanna see him fly through a sun, i mean someone's son!"
i lol'ed so much
So it sounds like my dream of a Big Sandwich commentary track for all of the "Lord of the Rings" movies and "The Hobbit" movies will never happen. 37:00
I'm here from the future to tell you, James, that we shall find out post haste whether Natalie Padmeman will make a good Thor or not
oh you guys talked about kevin smiths podcast and now RLM you guys are awesome
I would definitely buy the DCCUCUCCD (Detective Comics Cinematic Universe Consulting Unit Computer Compact Disk)
Doin' my bloody homework while listening to this
Thank you! Finally someone has said about Unbreakable, what I've thought for years. That it's a superhero film made by someone with no appreciation of superheroes. Thank you Maso, I thought I was going mad :D
love this podcast so much! but unbreakable was good to me, especially if you watch it now haha its different from the generic super hero movies now
please do a list of the best dc animated films, either on here or on Mr Sunday Movies....please
I really liked kylo's theme in force awakens, it never gets played in its entirety but if you listen to the whole thing it works really well at establishing him as Vader's successor
Listening to you trying to explain Dragon Ball Super/GT was the most painful thing I've listened to on this show. That's saying something
Aww come on it was pretty funny. The "instead of turning to a monkey they get blue hair". Lol! I do miss the SSJ4 transformation tho. :(
sarahsue123 ssj4 makes no sense as a transformation
If you get curious about The Last Airbender, you should ABSOLUTELY watch it with RiffTrax commentary. One of the absolute funniest things I've ever seen.
Okay, I've listened to enough of these (so many!) that I'm still wondering what "grab that gem" means.
Also, you hit a lot of my most disappointing movies, but I want to add (5 years later) "Days of Future Past."
It's the LAST movie I allowed myself to get excited over.
"XMen: First Class" was great and we were so excited to see the old cast and the new cast together at Comicon.
Made my spine tingle and then all we got was a superhero SNUFF film and everyone involved lets Wolverine get dumped in a river where Stiffler finds him and they nobody ever follows up.
Fun listening to this a few years later, after Natalie Portman did Annihilation and I realized she could totally be a badass.
You guys need to make "Ring-a-ding-ding lets predict a thing" a regular part of the show. I know you did it before as a joke, but I laughed so hard. Please try to work it in where appropriate when speculating #mulletforsuperman
Soooo we gonna ignore the fact they were wrong about Natale Portman not being able to handle lady Thor?
They talk about it in the video above love and thunder
If they actually end up replacing Lex Luthor for MOS 2, I hope they go with Clancy Brown. He's a tower of a man and he actually voiced him in the Justice League cartoon.
How do you feel NOW??? hehehe
Hearing all this news ab justice league is just depressing now
i also tried and failed to read LOTR. for some reason Tolkien just doesn't land for me.
does it help more to watch it on CZcams or from that podcast site?
podcast site as you can download it for free and then you don't need an Internet connection to listen.
they should CG Superman's flowing mullet, like they do the cape
I love the director's cut of Watchmen and 300.. The Snyder Cut was solid. BVS was one of the most disappointing movies ever. Will have to watch the director's cut one day.
I'm having an existential crisis listening to this and keep just keep saying "That was seven years ago!"
Can we get Brainiac in mos 2? have supes computer corrupt or something and the manifestation is Russell Crowe. Idk something. I just wanna see Brainiac.
MrDotious Toss a coin to your witcher!
Bloody brilliant
Most of Terminator 3: 😐
Ending of Terminator 3: 😮🤩😍😎
the new godzilla was just extremely underwhelming for me i mean there are some cool stuff in it but nothing else
Same, first half was good. Then it devolved into cool shots of Godzilla, in between aaron Johnson being bland and boring
They killed the wrong family member.
Bryan Cranston was the only member of his family that you cared about, and he dies early in the movie.
Cloverfield only works if you care enough about the characters to be worried about them.
By killing Bryan Cranston, they sent the message that no one in the movie is safe, and anyone could die because they're not afraid to kill anyone....but when Cranston was the only character you cared about, that doesn't work. You have to have a surviving character or characters who you can be equally invested in and worried about.
And that's the catch.
Cranston's son (Soldier Guy) wasn't boring when Cranston was alive. Cranston seemed deranged and crazy, and Soldier Guy was the voice of reason trying to reel him back in. You don't realize that he's boring until his dad is gone and that context is gone.
Had they kept Cranston alive and killed his son while his son seemed to matter, THAT would've made for a MUCH better movie (and an even more grief-filled, tragedy plagued Cranston, as opposed to just Soldier Guy's "Dang, my estranged weirdo dad was right, and died" sort of non-response...).
Soldier Guy would still matter enough at that point in the movie for it to seem like "oh shit, they're willing to kill anyone", and then you go on feeling bad for Soldier Guys wife and son, and worrying about how Cranston will survive. And then Cranston trying to get back to save his son's family after his son died "because of him" would be a compelling plot. Not to mention that keeping Cranston, the scientist who identified that all of this (something huge) was going to happen, being alive gives him a solid reason to hang out with Ken Watanabe - the scientist guy who is actually familiar with Godzilla, who studies and follows Godzilla, and the one other real interesting human in the movie who OBVIOUSLY has a whole lot more fascinating stuff to say, but is never given the chance. Having Cranston and Watanabe traveling with the military and being near the action would still make perfect sense, and Soldier Guy's functions could all be fulfilled by whatever random soldiers happen to be hanging around the area.
Me and my husband were laughing during that entire movie, it was horrible. The main guy sucked at everything he did and the worst part was him leaving that child in a crowd of people. Only good part was when godzilla killed that monster by breathing fire in its mouth or whatever.
11:00 James & Maso wonder if Natalie Portman would make a good Lady Thor....consensus is _Not Really_
4 years later....she is Lady Thor...
can u guys put this on SoundCloud
Zac Efron would be a nice Nightwing...dont hate on me, the guy has chops
I've been saying this for like a year to all my friends. It would be so perfect. And even if he doesn't play Nightwing, he'd be an awesome Tim Drake Robin.
Yeah he's a little big. But Nightwing isn't scrawny, that's for sure. I do agree that he would have to lose some of the muscle though.
Yeah that's about perfect.
Of the original (60s Batman) Catwomen, Lee Merriweather and Julie Newmar are both still alive (as of January 2021), though Eartha Kitt died in 2008. Obviously, both Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway are still alive, too. I realise this is a 5 year old episode, but felt it needed saying!
Aww man get watching The Last Airbender cartoon. It's amazing!
Who would win in a fight discussion idea: Who would win in a fight? A goat man with a gun or a man in a tux with the infinity gauntlet?
Why doesn't anyone appreciate how epic Terminator Salvation is?
Can't fucking wait for a MOS sequel!!!! Love the first one so much
Yall should do a Caravan of Garbage on the Grindhouse movies, Planet Terror is actually one of the best horror movies ever, although I agree that Death Proof is lacking (so was Hateful 8)
Jim Carrey needs to reprise his role as the Riddler. With good direction and costume design he could be amazing.
NO GOD PLEASE NO!!!! NOOOO! NO GOD NO!!
+Terra Emotus did I overreact? Nah.
Terra Emotus Have you seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Or 23?
+BigFatCock I agree with you 100%, it's just, well, I think he's too old now
nintendolegoboy No he's the perfect age. He doesn't have to be a 'new' villain either. They can have a younger actor play his origin or whatever.
I want brainiac in Man of Steel 2, it fits the space criteria and also gives us a villain that we haven't seen (or we could have nuclear man v2)
no nuclear man pls
I loved Prometheus
And Crystal Skull wasn't great, but I think it gets too much hate. I didn't mind the alien thing because it makes sense for the time period, but it did get pretty cheesy at times.
Mr..sunday movies predicting that jane foster would be lady thor, played by Natalie portman
In GOTG they say that they have body mods and I guess thats what they use to breathe on all the different planets so they probably do the same with the avengers
Wasn't there a Revenge of the Sith image in the thumbnail? Did I miss that part of the discussion?
Idea I had a while back- Darcy as Thor and she and Selvig have to save Ian the Intern, the damsel in distress of the story.
I found with the LOTR, The Two Towers is the best book and worst movie adventure and action wise, specially for the hobbits.
Also, Guillermo del Toro worked on The Hobbit.
2022 update: they made a new Matrix and Amazon is releasing a LOTR series
lmao right when they said Suicide Squad was dissapointing the ad for suicide squad extended cut showed up
Superman flying through someone's son... needs to be next animated clip. XD
All they need to do with Mary Jane is give her green eyes, and/or dye a red stripe in her hair
For ur versus match do groot vs that giant tree in the Lord of the rings
I love you. Whoever's reading this. But, mostly you Jenny & Eric.... Good guys, good guys.
They should have hinted at Brainiac in the first MoS. Jor-El could have said that the Kryptonians were forced to abandon their colonies and return to Krypton. When Zod visited that dead colony where he found the World Engine, they could have revealed that there were three giant circular craters on the planet. They could have had an end credit scene showing Brainiac receiving the signal from the Kryptonian scout ship that allowed Zod to find earth.
Also, George Miller had 3 Oscar nominations and 1 Oscar win before Fury Road. He's a great director and writer.
43:32 oh wow prediction was correct
Ten months late on this comment. Well done guys. Ive enjoyed Mr. Sunday Movies for a bit and am enjoying this now as well.
Listening to the back catalog and saw that the Matrix 4 was announced today. Good timing?
He called it, Jane foster as lady Thor haha 😂😂Looking back then I would’ve never agreed with it and now it’s a reality
Batman v Superman was my most anticipated movie EVER! I remember my hype level for that movie was so big and I wanted it since man of steel. It sucked and I hate zach Snyder now
True right? I was looking forward to that movie ever since I am Legend with the little easter egg
Listening to this in 2023 and the possibilities of phase 4 n 5 😭
I read all of the LOTR books, and let me tell you, that Tolkien sure liked describing surroundings. Every leaf, flower, tree, grass, bug, bird, rock, stone...
Who would win in a fight at their peak? Jason Bourne or Bruce Wayne (each movie version with no Batman tech)
I agree.. I actually enjoyed Death Proof.. Planet Terror didn't do a whole lot for me. in to the bin with ya Robert Rodriguez!
You guys have Australia's Funniest home Videos?!? XD
We have America's Funniest home Videos here... In America
Single biggest gut punch was Phantom Menace although Star Trek II 2, Spectre, and Rise of Skywalker gave it a run for its money
Terminator Salvation is my FAVOURITE sequel to the original 2 for similar yet opposite reasons. I didn't watch it in the cinema or for a year or so after it came out, assuming it would be terrible. Wasn't till my mate said it wasn't bad that I gave it a shot and it wasn't as horrendous as I thought it would be. Because of my fear of it being so bad (as bad as genesys ended up being), it feels better than it probably than is.
If You exclude the first 2 films, i can honestly say it is my favourite Terminator film ever made
Superhero Showdown: The Weekly Planet Podcast vs any other podcast that exists.
V for Vendetta is on Netflix!
can we get the amount of add you put on reduced? with mack weldon and pattern Id hope for maybe half the adds I got in this one boys
Shamalan twist: Lockty did get robbed, but they lied about how they were robbed
I actually got Hancock on DVD for Christmas when it came out. I watched it for about 20-30 minutes and loved the whole drunk, shitty superhero. Then I fell asleep and woke up during the storm ending thing and thought it was a different movie
If you want a space guy for MoS 2, Mongul would be a great candidate.
best podcast. THAT WE KNOW ABOUT
Rorschach vs Batman? Rorschach is more creative and has less concerns about killing his opponent that might be limiting, but Batman is more skilled and has a vast array of gadgets.
The Natalie Portman stuff is interesting to look back on now
the second hobbit was the best
I'm usually super disappointed by movie I'm excited about, but, generally, on the second watching, I like them. The amount of disappointment is just a consequence of too high expectations - and it's getting harder not the be hyped for movies in the current age of marketing...
I'm a pretty big advocate for the Matrix sequels. The second is great until the architect and the third is okay. The direction and story and ideas and concepts were excellent, it just lacked in the film making department. It's like the star wars prequels. Good ideas, bad execution (with glimpses of excellence).
Zach Gerrity
The Star Wars prequels failed because the ideas composing the story’s were BAD. Barely any glimpses of excellence.
cyborg superman, and composite man are space superman villains
Who would win in a fight, red hood or nightwing?
Mason doesn't like a whole lot Pixar films? Papa Iger is disappoint.
It would be cool if JL Stepan wolf hint at dark side and then superman fights dark side in superman movie and then superman loses to dark side and has to beat him then JL 2
It would be amazing if superman died at the end of every dc cinematic movie, even if he just shows up at the end to do it, then is resurrected at the beginning of the next, with progressively longer hair each time.
+Andrew Case By the final movie he's pretty much super Chewbacca 😂
That's not how you spell.... uh.... you know what, keep doing what you're doing.
how do i summit a fight
