  • Jogo is insanely powerful. As the Hidden Inventory Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is wrapping up and we're headed into the Shibuya Incident, I thought I'd make this video to explain why I think Jogo couldn't become one of the strongest, although he had the potential to.

Jogo knows what it means to be a curse, and knows what weakness is, he wasn't born as strong as he was.
But he wanted comradeship and loyal friends. He intentionally, or at least subconsciously chose to stick true to his ideals instead of being a curse. Which is why he gets the best end compared to the other disasters.

The reason for Jogo's weakness is explained in the Kashimo vs Hakari fight. Kashimo finds a way to exploit Hakari's domain, but shrugs it off saying "That's how losers think" and goes for the kill against Hakari at his strongest.
Gojo only knew stories about Sukuna, but could proudly say he was going to exorcise him.
Sukuna saw the mountain that was Gojo, and with just 1 finger and no means of bypassing Infinity, proclaimed he was going to kill Satoru Gojo.
Yuji had no chance against a low-tier Special Grade curse, yet he faced it head-on and even tried to beat Sukuna at any given opportunity.
The difference here is that all of these sorcerers were strong because they did not care what the odds were, they sought to surpass them. This mentality is also at the heart of Geto's question: are you the strongest because you are Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you are the strongest? (ergo, are you that confident because you never lost, or did you never lose because of your confidence?). Jogo was strong but had no confidence, so he couldn't grow, he couldn't become stronger.
And it's not that scheming is weakness, Kenjaku is really powerful, but the problem is the mentality. Kenjaku schemes, but he is confident he will beat Gojo. Jogo schemed BECAUSE he felt he couldn't do it. Going back to the first example, it's not that Kashimo wasn't going to end the fight if Hakari ran out of RCT, but rather that he wouldn't let that mindset block him from taking an early victory, or even worse, put him on the defensive and let Hakari beat him.
Finally, one character actually does the opposite of what Jogo did. Megumi.
Early Megumi wasn't confident in his power. He was strong, but he would give up easily, he fought only as a last resort and given the chance would always run, call the teachers, rely on others. And if push came to shove, even at the smallest incovenience he was ready to throw his life away and just throw a wild Mahoraga at people, at the cost of his own life. It's only after he changes that mindset that he can unlock his Domain Expansion and beat a Special Grade he couldn't before.

    • @ldariusd21
      @ldariusd21 Před 10 měsíci +144

Perfectly explain that's what I been telling people and that's what I like about JJK it's not just friendship power ups or training for a Week and become wildly strong. It's about the mindset and being more in tuned with yourself. In JJK it's not all about power and techniques it's how you put your imagination to it, using your power this way or that way like Megumi for example when he fought the special grade and made his domain expansion. He imagined it and shaped it to his image that's why he kept saying bigger and more while casting it. You have to surpass your limits and your way of thinking it's about being extraordinary instead of settling for less.

To be strong in JJK is to embrace who you are, your raw unrestrained nature and letting go of anything that tethers you down in any way. Mahito embraces his status as a curse and grows exceptionally from this, Maki never once falters in her ideal and conviction but holding on to her sister and the small amount of cursed energy she had did.
If Jogo never lost his drive, his soul to burn the world around him to a crisp, that overwhelming pride and ego in himself as a curse that led him to attack Gojo in the first place, he would have grown to become far stronger then anyone else.
In other words, JJK rewards hedonists and maniacs who's response to any form of adversity is "full send"

I think the reason why Jogo lost is very similar to why Toji lost. When Toji forgot his own morals and gave up his own identity to fight Gojo he had already lost and this is the same with Jogo. Jogo claims to be the true human but he fails to prove his own identity after the fight with Gojo. Curses are born from human's negative emotions but they are pure they can only act out the emotion they were born from. In this way Jogo should have been a curse that burnt wildly and without restraint but after his fight he loses himself. He refuses to use domain expansion and therefore is holding his own fire back. In this case what truly happens is as soon a Jogo holds back he's lost his status as a true human he no longer acts out the pure emotions that he was born from and instead just becomes a pedestal to lift Mahito the true human into the spotlight.

Something that' sad but endearing about Jogo's character is that strangely enough, what held him back from becoming that next level of curse is that Jogo cared for his fellow curses to an extent. I forget where, but it's either implied or said that Sukuna was partly so strong for his lack of care for anyone other than himself. And it makes sense, Sukuna is always only ever looking out for himself, and it's served him remarkably well because he doesn't have to care about anything other than his own strength. The same partly applied to Mahito. Mahito could have been the Sukuna of his era, if y'know, Sukuna wasn't still technically alive. What held Jogo back from being a curse like Mahito and Sukuna, was the fact that despite looking the part more than them, he had a bit more humanity than them.

Jogo is my favorite character in jjk. He’s a curse who, in his quest to prove he’s better than humanity, instead discovers that he is more human than he realized. This humanity was what held him back as far as strength goes. He didn’t fight for the sake of it without purpose or meaning. He fought for his friends and for the life he wished all curses had (the life of humans). He was never going to be the strongest like sukuna or gojo because he was selfless. I think he’s kinda like Zeke from AOT in the way that he has these grand extermination schemes but it all boils down to how he wants to be able to appreciate the little moments of joy with his friends.

I think another reason that gojo was stagnant was in a real sense he achieved his dream and became human. He embodied very good moralistic traits and was worried about losing those qualities if he let him self burn carelessly in the end he was content living how he was because that is how he wanted to be. To give into his nature almost went opposite to his desire so every time he had the chance to maybe burn a little more care free he was caught by that, and when he was burning more freely he was not thinking nor looking to grow or burn harder. When he needs to think and contemplate his nature he fears failure and loss, but when he embodies his nature he is never contemplating it.

How would the other three have Looked if they "evolved"/learned about stuff like mahito did?

Jogoat could have beaten fraudkuna if he had used his full strength. He knew fraudkuna was having a bad day tho so he let him win, like an older brother letting his younger sibling win.

Is a flames purpose only to burn and nothing more, or is it just as much a stepping stone for new life to emerge and prosper. What comes first, creation or destruction?

Jogo failed because he was the most human. He was the closest to actually being human. To be human is to know weakness, to understand there are forces beyond you, circumstances that have influence over you that you have no influence over. And like many humans was undone by that realization. Curses really have no such understanding. They just ride the currents regardless. Forces that can't even govern themselves.
But there is another category that both sides seek without really realizing it. Gods. To be the force that shapes while having the agency to govern...what better way to define a god? This is what I think all sorcerors are aiming for. Maybe futile, even for Sukuna, but even a futile effort has meaning in that it allows you to measure yourself and your target. And perhaps reaching that goal is the revolution.
