Way back in 1964 or 65 my dad got a Herb Albert album for Christmas and he played it on the stereo console while I rode my new tricycle inside the house. This is my best early childhood memory. Thank you sir for so many years of beautiful music !
When you think that Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass were outselling The Beatles back in the 60's and he's still making albums today it's amazing. A true love of music and a genuine living legend.
c'mon, this is one of those things that gets repeated, but out of context is actually kind of ridiculous. I LOVVVVE me some Herb Alpert...he's the man....huuuuge fan. But he didn't outsell the Beatles in the 60s. He had the number one best selling album in 1964, which was an important year, obviously, for The Beatles. But he didn't outsell them, even for that year, the Beatles were competing with THEMSELVES, selling multiple albums that totaled, in sales, FAR FAR FAR FAR more than Herb Alpert. In the 60s, The Beatles had several albums that MASSIVELY outsold Alpert's biggest album. Their total sales DWARFED Alpert's total sales. There is only one way, and you have to word it cleverly, to suggest Alpert outsold the Beatles, and that's to narrowly, and deceptively say he had the biggest SINGLE album of 1964, when The Beatles had to settle for having numbers 2, 3, 4, 7 and 11. (that totaled more sales than Alpert by a GARGANTUAN margin) No.....Herb, as fantastic and game-changing as he legit was....was NOT outselling the Beatles in the 60s. But he IS a living legend.
@@davemelges4659Thank you for your reply but I'm afraid that your comment is not factual. In 1966 Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass outsold The Beatles. It may have been the only time that it occurred but nonetheless it did happen.
@@a.c.1474 If you're going to use phrases like "your comment is not factual," then you should START by saying your OWN comment is NOT FACTUAL. Obviously, Herb Alpert was not "outselling the Beatles in the 60s" even if they RELEASED the best selling album of 1966....and Alpert sold a TON of albums in 1966. But the thing that is so often repeated about Herb Alpert is MISLEADING. The Beatles, by mid 1966 had sold 150 MILLION albums.....the record sales FOR 1966 just describe albums RELEASED in 1966. The Beatles existing catalog crushed everyone, year after year after year. Including in 1966. It's fun to say "who was the biggest selling musical artist in the world in 1966....." so that people who don't know about Herb Alpert yell THE BEATLES, obviously. And then you get to say "no, it was this cat Herb Alpert." And you're kinda right. but if you say he was "outselling the Beatles back in the 60s" you're just plain wrong. It's not close.
Always looking forward to anything that Herb Alpert does! He's one of the main reasons I started playing trumpet in 1970. My mom and dad had a Mexican record shop and played his records all the time. I still play my horn everyday! Thank you Herb!!
Love it! Coming on a new album? That would be great news. Reminds me of Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass. A listing of the musicians in the credits would have been nice.

WOW!!! This is a marvelous instrumental rejuvenation by Herb Alpert and company of a classic 70’s movie theme from a classic 70’s film-“Smokey and The Bandit”-originated by the late music legend Jerry Reed!!! Somewhere out there he is beaming with pride at this excellent take on his great song!!!
Love that he's still making music! We only just recently discovered Herb Alpert within the past five years, and it's always great to hear that distinctive trumpet and know exactly who made the song 😊
Thank you Herb Alpert for so many unique & inspiring compilations you shared with us. I grew up with you since Tiajuana Taxi. May God bless you & keep you & yours. 💜👍🏾👍🏽😃
Herb Alpert, still making great music after all these years! The entire Wish Upon a Star album is great! Id venture to guess I’m one of your younger fans at 25.
The best trumpeter in the world, no matter what 'the experts' say..... as Miles Davis said once: You'd hear three tones and you know it's Herb Alpert....What more to say?
My absolute favorite performer with my favorite airliner with my favorite car!! The only three things I’m passionate about in life on Herb Alpert and the Tijuana brass , the Boeing 707 and Pontiac’s!! This song covers all three bases beautifully
Great song. Every single time I hear it I think of Smokey and the Bandit as well. Don't get me started on 'The Lonely Bull'. When I hear that one I swear I'm in Mexico at a bull fight and I'm dressed in polyester bell bottoms, polyester jacket and a white dress shirt with a fancy tie.
Thank you sooo much to all the thoughtful, kind people who have taken time to place this music within reach of us all! Listening to Herb Alpert brightens every day of my life, no matter how frustrating it may become.

😂beautiful and funny. Thanks Herb! By the way, your concert in Montréal was totally mind blowing..😊❤
Had CZcams existed in the 1970's, my brother would have done game shows from the basement, using Herb Alpert's music, and all our stuffed animals as contestants. Huh, that's probably why mom hid all the albums. Welp, we're only a few decades late. Let's get to it then!
History behind this also cool part is he's got a brand new album out But as he said years ago he saw Smokey and the bandit he always like this tune And also said he's making his first debut at the Grand old Opry in Nashville and he said this would be a great song just do so he put his own cover on Tijuana brass style.
Herb, what is the name of the song you sang as a follow up to this guy's in love. I used to have it, but that was decades, ago. I have tried to find it, but I can't.
If Smokey And The Bandit happened to take place in Mexico. Simply brilliant!!
Are they bootleggin' Corona or Dos Equis?
Alpert, Bacharach , Mendes : always positive music , and the world at this point needs it.
What a wonderfully unusual take on this song but works perfectly! I LOVE it!
