PokeRogue is a unique rogue-lite experience set in the Pokemon universe. Unlike traditional Pokemon games, PokeRogue features procedurally generated worlds, meaning the map and encounters change with every playthrough. My Gods, Retromation delivers in PokeRogue!
There's so much information flowing in every episode, but at more-or-less the sweetspot for following along the thought process.
Great performance alongside stellar commentary, I hope this series has great longevity and are worth it for Retromation in the bigger picture.

I'm trying this game and it's HARD. You tricked me into thinking it's easier than it is and I'm having a living nightmare myself. And I'm thankful for it.

That's my experience as well, it's an auto-torture xD
Do note that it became quite a bit harder since he first started playing it, after improvements to ai and wild/enemy trainer pokemon being able to use egg moves and TMs. Now, instead of starting at a nearly even playing field and things then getting easier, you start at a disadvantage (no egg moves) and work your way to it being more "fair" (though the game still is unfair about item stealing)

My first classic victory included an Archaludon with stealth rocks. It definitely made the rival's mega Rayquaza a whole lot easier to deal with, the run is still not free just yet, but it's cooking that's for sure.
Tinkaton is a really good rayquaza counter
Salt cure is disgusting if you have the sustain moves

To train friendship in this game you need to use them in battle or feed them rare candies and don't let them die. So a Togepi sitting in the back will never evolve unless you shove a hundred candies down it's throat.
I'll be curious what you think about me not using togepi and it evolving tomorrow then!
@@Retromation Watched tomorrows video, you literally gave him candies and he evolved just like I said. He won't evolve unless you use him or feed him a bunch of candies so you must have done enough of them over the run by that point.
46:33 her merciless ability guarantees crits toward poisoned targets, she mostly got really high defenses though
The urge to resist saying anything every time Slugma shows up. Squad is nice, maybe we'll finally get the no reset run!

You'll get a new item called max mushrooms in order to gmax a pokemon if able. I haven't tried to recreate it more than once but I was able to gmax multiple Pokemon with one max mushrooms by transferring it between them after battles
The sad part about the Cyndaquil line is they were lazy and just copied the stats of the Charmander line all the way. But gave the Cynda line more physical moves than special. Partly because they werent split damage types yet, so it sucks that the Cynda line gets more physical damage moves earlier on when its special is naturally higher. You dont get a better special fire move than ember until after lvl 40
After the many hours I put into this game, I learned today that the settings menu scrolls down...
You can also set up a save scumming option

Friendship is really funky for this game, participating in battles and I believe getting items like carbos etc. raise it. that's why togepi isn't evolving.
Run 11 continues, wave 91, had to retry once against the previous fight against Ivy, hwalucha is still nearly unstoppable. Got a Legendary egg from the shiny gacha, and a manaphy egg. I also hatched a Registeel.

The other day I had a Spliced Flygon + Crobat (Crogon - Poison/Dragon) that I expected to carry me in the endgame but it ended up falling short because my team overall was not strong enough for the champion (damn you, Geeta). Then, ironically, I proceeded to beat Classic Mode with the team focused on shinies that I had assembled for the shiny weekend (I know shiny luck doesn't affect the encounters, but I was trying to find the Shiny Charm to use, which didn't work, but I digress) haha.
Honestly I'm having a blast trying to assemble teams and improve my existing mons/capturing new ones every run and I with the constant updates from the devs I really hope the game doesn't go away anytime soon.
The Nacl is quite good vs end bosses with Salt Cure.

Just FYI Togepi won't evolve unless you use them more. The main way to get friendship in Pokerogue is using the Pokemon in battles, and Togepis evolution is friendship based. It has nothing to do with levels.
you might be right, but spoilers, it evolves immediately next episode and I didn't use it so
You get +3 friendship for winning a battle, +5 for a rare candy and -10 for dying

The rival battles seem so easy compared to the last run.
I wondered if you still do this now, but leveling up 1-3 levels when they’re maxed, when you generally max them anyway, is basically doing nothing? Unless you have a tough battle coming up, long term they all plateau at your cap each interval. Just thought about it during one of your choices when you picked the (I think +2) levels for crowboy instead of an item I think would’ve done more.
if you get the item that lets pokemon change their ability togepi has a good second ability. It doubles the chance for secondary effects to happen. So rock smash goes from 1/2 chance to lower defense to always. Ancient power goes from 1/10 to increase all stats 1 stage to 1/5

That item does not exist in this game and that ability isn't implemented yet.

I tried it with my Chespin last night and it failed to lock in, only dealing its base damage even if i clicked it two turns in a row
Replacing it on Azumarill was definitely the right choice, even if it wasted your memory mushroom
