@@lover2ed134 I actually prefer them living under the bridge. Out of site out of mind. The last thing I want is to see them nodding off, using needles and hitting the pipe on the boardwalk.
It’s not like there are any real plans for them anyway. The best idea would be to take them to the least publicly dense farm areas that have no real transportation. Build tiny homes and don’t let them leave until they have completed a trade, build a few homes, seen some doctors (mental and physical) and reconnect with family members.
Other wise we are all basically just waiting for them to die. If we are going to spend a over a hundred thousand a year for each of them may as well make it count.

There is absolutely no way that city officials and public works people did not know that a homeless encampment was there. Those people have been living there for over a year and they’re claiming they didn’t know about it? That is a lie. They just chose to look the other way until a big event was coming and realized, Uh Oh, we now have to do something about these people because we don’t want them embarrassing us in front of tourists.

You dont know shit about my city, so probably best to not comment. There is actually a chance that they were NOT aware, as this is NOT the first time this EXACT concert has taken place in the SAME location. Why would they magically decide to remove the homeless THIS time, and not the LAST time this exact event took place less than 3 years ago. Dont get me wrong, city officials are full of shit, but it just doesnt make any sense that they choose this concert to enact action instead of the LAST 5 times.

I am sick of having to keep paying to move people around to housing no one can afford on one income and if they can it’s only because it’s made of the cheapest materials that will either fall apart, make them sick, or both. I see a lot of landlords getting richer just moving lower and lower incomes around to different units at the same time home ownership gets further and further from the average person’s grasp.

BS the timing is obviously related to the event. Problem with the majority of "supportive" services is they are there to feed and fund themselves...job security. Rarely do they hire folks who have/ are homeless or mobile, because it is easier to THINK you know what others want, then to KNOW what is needed. Plus if "workers" think they are better, or different, then they can believe they could never end up loosing it all.

Thank God they are finally doing something. MY HOUSE has been burglarized ,they stole my mailbox I'm elderly worked my entire life, struggle to pay my taxes. The police arrested the burglars, they were out of jail 2 days later. We bought the house and the plan was to fix it up and buy in the neighborhood to make it a better place to live. That was in December 2015. Every time it gets fixed up the homeless destroy it,we had a fence put in around the patio painted had 1000.00 lighted umbrella that covered the entire patio,we had a jacuzzi put in white w hiker furniture tiki torches. We planned on living there and buying in that neighborhood. It looks like a crack house now they stole EVERY THING. There is no point to do anything, I have told everyone I could. My next move is to talk to Mayor Smalls,he is no joke he gets things done I voted for him. He doesn't talk he takes action. Mr.Shabazz also is an action person I can't sell my home because the abandoned house next door is 'unfit for human habitation. Mayor Smalls has been fighting this homeless problem since he got into office,he inherited a mess. He never stops fighting. The homeless DO NOT WANT TO GO INTO A SHELTER BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO FOLLOW RULES. They majority are on drugs and want to steal taxpayers property and beg for money. So before you heart goes out to them,if you "help" you are helping them to do drugs. I know I took 3 people into my home that I worked my entire life for. They stole and destroyed my home I'm from PA I never saw a real live homeless person. They are very smart they con you,I will not even make eye contact with them. They are dangerous people. Please don't make the mistake that I did. I believed I was doing Jesus work. There ìs a wonderful shelter in AC. They will help then the catch is they must follow the rules, such as look for a job. It's called The Mission, they are Christians wonderful people. The homeless are destroying this town.

I am the man from Rise Up AC that was interviewed in this video. Of course I was cut to save time, but adding to what was shown of me, I said the same as the Volunteers of America outreach worker said. We need 24 hour services in the city. I make myself available from 9 to midnight every day but even that isn't enough time. The majority of the homeless out there are alcoholics who at any time can hit their bottom and want help. Unfortunately, if no services are available at that exact time, that opportunity is lost. I know this very well from experience as I was homeless at one point in my life too. I also said in this interview that all that was accomplished by ejecting them from the pier is that 25 people were displaced to other parts of the city. Today, I was talking to a couple who was ejected that day and they are back under the pier as are many more homeless people. I must also very sadly report that Bill butler, the homeless man in the video has passed away. Mat he be remembered and rest in peace. I , along with all of us at Rise Up AC will be out on the street every single day.

Invisible . Like the scum of society. They don’t think that they deserve better. There was a woman on the bus yesterday. Disheveled . Erratic emancipated and unkempt. Everyone frowned at her looked at her funny. I would bet most went to church on Sunday and refer to themselves as Christians. This woman turned around and asked me something . She was incoherent . I asked her to tell me again. She wanted a couple of dollars to eat . I was the only one in the bus that she asked. I gave her $2 . I said. Don’t get high. She said I won’t. I have two sons. We seem to be very quick to judge people without knowing exactly what circumstances put them there! Not everyone homeless is a addict! Also, many who are addicts didn't wake up one day and decide I want to be a addict! Most suffering and I say suffering from addictions have had some sort of severe trauma happen in their life. Rape, abuse, child molestation, horrific horrors happen to them. Not including those with mental illnesses. Jail is not the answer. Some of them because of the addictions will die, due to the lack of medical attention a person needs when coming off of drugs and alcohol. I'm not saying enable them, but there really needs to be resources available to really help people. Until they can come to a place of what got them there, all the help in the world will not help. It's no different then medication. Most people are prescribed medication to help with the symptoms, but the drug doesn't cure anything. Stop taking the medication and see what will happen. Medicating a problem doesn't cure the problem. It only controls it. It saddens me to see that some can be so heartless! Good thing we have a God that always shows us mercy!!
