It’s weird. There was a girl I knew that was like that. This guy that was with them had a girlfriend and I hung out with them a lot. They were known by my friends that I knew for 8 years so I didn’t mind. Turns out that girl wanted to date the guys girlfriend and told me this when they broke up. We weren’t the best of friends so I have no idea why she told me. I told her that she should try something. Otherwise the regret in the future would hurt a lot. Beyond that I wasn’t sure what to say. I told her that the secret was safe with me but honestly, it wasn’t much of a secret. Everyone, including the ex-boyfriend, had pretty much either figured it out, or suspected as much. She wasn’t very subtle. No one really cared. They weren’t going to talk to her about it and didn’t think less of her for it. Turns out she went for it later and they started dating. This would have been cool if the day I found out wasn’t early in the year. I don’t know what it was about that day. But something was wrong. She and her girlfriend invited all of us to go see some movie we were all excited for and it was fun. We then hung out later at an arcade and a park and everything just felt weird. Something just felt off. There was something rotten in the air that day.
The next week, we all went into lockdown due to COVID.
I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that it happened or that I felt it coming somehow. It’s never happened before or ever again.
But they are still together and I imagine they still will be when this ends.

I saw the title of this, and having never heard it instantly thought "oh boy, I'll bet this aged poorly." It aged GREAT.
