Really like that large two line display. The problem I always have with the Royal is that I often hit the mode button on accident, and when I look at the watch it can take me a long time to figure out which screen I'm looking at, especially if it's just switched over to a different time zone. I really like that the dual time screen on this one shows both your local time and your second time on the display. I know the Royal always shows your local time in the analog circle, but I always have a hard time reading that one. Overall this looks really legible and pretty cool too.
the largest display size of all the CASIO digital watches is the CASIO model W96H-1BV. It also shows the Time, Year, Day, Month, Date all on the main display without having to push any buttons. It is waterproof to 50 meters.
Still amazing how much CASIO-fun you can get on the wrist for only a few bucks. This green version goes so well together with the reddish leather strap 👌! Easy to cut a 24mm strap yourself (maybe cauterize it with a soldering iron) and to remove superfluous text from the case with rubbing alcohol - no need for expensive imports. Part of the fun, yo! For this model, if compatible to the Royale, you could even metalprint a steel or bronze case at home - there are a lot of 3D models available for free, as are Nato-adapters!
I have an AE 1200. I really like the display better on the 1600. I don't need all the timer features but the legibility is much better on the time and day/date. I am going to pick one of these up.
I just got one for my work (car workshop) . It's doing phenomenally well. So easy to read time, very easy to wash off any oil ot dust, very easy to forget that it's there, and I'm liking it a lot. I really love the speedometer-esque looking seconds tracker.
WS1600 is superior to AE1200. And like you said, aesthetics may be the deciding factor. For me, I have more opportunities to use multiple timers than multiple time zones. Never understood having multiple time zones. If I’m cooking or working out or have multiple appointments…yea that I can digest and for those reasons, the WS1600 is superior to the AE1200.
Probably the opposite to me. I rarely use countdown timers. Even for working out, I prefer a stop watch. But I live in a foreign country, and my brother is in another, and my sister is in the home country. It’s nice to quickly check the time with them. Same if you had international clients.
Multiple time zones aren’t needed if everyone you know is w/ in one. I currently have crews in five time zones in the US and three others spread across the world. The US ones are easy. The international ones are harder. It’s a useful feature for a situation like this.
Twenty one dollars and some change on Amazon. How can you go wrong ? With aftermarket upgrades available if you like. Casio hit it outta the park with this one.
I really like this 1600 very much. I just ordered one and look forward to wearing it. I like the better legibility of the 1600 and the action bits as well. I still prefer the 1200. The face of the watch is more balanced, and the digits font is bold, and the display is clear and crisp. The new one has thinner digits, and the display looks faint , so legibility on the 1200 is much better
Got me one of these a couple of weeks ago :) I also bought explosion-proof screen protectors which are available at Aliexpress. No more worries of a scratched-up crystal! 😁 You're right about the strap, the reason I bought adaptors to swop it out for a 20 or 22mm after-market strap.
I'd say they are pretty close. LCD screens are sometimes hard to capture on camera. Like some of the footage I noticed the sceen is flickering because of the cameras frame rate, othertimes it's fine.

I'm actually double wristing today with my AE1300 & a Casio racing chronograph I just picked up that I think you'll really like. I'm not a fan of busy cluttered or skeleton dials but the Casio MCW-100H I just got is really nice. The flavor that I got is the black dial with white indices, white sword hour and minute hands, white railroad tracks around the sub dials with red pointers and an orange second hand and the matching Orange rubber strap to round it out. Thanks Shane & before I forget I picked it up for $42
Just FYI, Skymod no longer prints the word “illuminator” just below the bezel. It’s been replaced with “illumination”. Guessing it’s a copyright issue? Kind of sucks.
Copy right issue😢😢,as always Casio loves to steal other ideas. Iluminator is just the replica of Timex indiglo,”tough Solar” is just fancy word for Citizen eco drive and G shock is stolen from Certina double security system.
I have a ae1200 with a solid bronze Kraniodesign case with a Sapphire crystal, I will be getting one of these also, probably 2, just to keep one stock! Great photography btw!
Thank you for this review. I will stay with only one Casio Royale, the original, in my collection. However, I am looking forward to your upcoming mod video for this watch and your previous mod video for SKXMod Casio Royale Style Mod Kits. Metal and sapphire surrounding the dial probably elevates the Royale to something more daily wearable.
I will be modding the turquoise version that is in your video with the silver matte SKXMOD kit that is all silver rather than black rim around the dial. It is nice that most of the new versions of those kits have a bracelet with quick release so i can eadily change to the Vario strap. But i was tempted to keep a Royale or this one light weight with the stock case and Vario strap.
I got the WS1600H-8AV version or as I call it, the green version. Bought off Amazon for just under $24 and I am loving it. I still haven't quite figured out how to use all of its different timing functions or why I'd ever need them but come on, they're cool! I agree about the band. I want to put on like a 24mm NATO strap but can't find a good 18mm lugs to 24mm adapter. Any suggestions? Can't wait to see your mod video!!!
I went looking in the past and did find at least two kinds of 18mm to 22mm converters for Nato straps for Casio watches. They looked decent. I saved the info somewhere, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. I've never seen 18mm to 24mm converters. Vario does of course make 16mm to 24mm converters for Nato straps but I wouldn't expect them to work for what you want. They are for G Shocks.
Hi Shane, I'd have to agree, I love my 1200 which I modded with SKXmod also. I recently started travelling for work again and find it's my goto. So much so I have been eyeing off the bronze case from SKX 😂. I can see two 1200s in my collection. This new version doest have the same feel to it for me.
The bronze case is pretty interesting. I just got one from them. They sent me a bunch of faceplates too, so I'm not entirely sure which one goes best with it.

I've just been in the lounge. I hitched up my frock and pulled down my granny pants. I then bent at the waste thus exposing my pasty buttocks and I discharged a fart that a rhinoceros would have been proud of. It sounded like someone firing up a chainsaw in a puddle of mud. You do know that Royale is just blatant copy of iconic g757, in the 80’s Casio was basically ali express brand, they just copied manny digital Seiko’s, even fw 91 was straight copy of A 150.

Bought the gray version of this a few weeks back. Underwhelming all around. I should have known better because I don’t like the size and shape of the Casio Royale. I will take a F-91W over this one, and most others to be frank.

I just paid $250 for a rare,uber cool vintage g shock that will be the pride of my collection which made me start wondering. With the 80's and 90's being the pinnacle or digital watch design,would there ever be a watch that came out today that would be the pride of some zoomers collection
@@zillsburyy1Seiko uses something they call 'Hardlex' which they claim is better than Mineral Glass. But yeah, Jumping from 90-100$ to 200$ on their Seiko 5 series is straight up robbery. I've stopped recommending Seikos to anyone. Aso, they are asking more money for their SKX lookalike Sports Diver watches. Shame on Seiko.

Great review. Interval timer is great if you train 1min set with 15 sec break, so i guess for fit ppl it is an upgrade.
Yep, or for a sequence of stretches. lots of creative uses for that feature.

I like all 3 but my favourite is the WS-1600 because I love the bar second counter more than I like the dials.

I think I like the 800 better. Bigger display and I Don't necessarily need the extra timer/ stopwatch features.

I'm not sure, I was curious about that too. I assume there is some logic to Casio's naming system, but no idea what it is.

Everyone's tastes are different, the main reason I put it on is just to show what it looks like and let people know there are options out there.
