    I have had most of my plants for less than two years now. Only just started this spring to fertilize them, so I'm experimenting on my fertilizing them. Wish me luck that I figure out the best way for each plant. This video helps and subscribed cus of it. Big thanks.

    I’ve been using a 12-6-6 organic fertilizer for all my indoor houseplants but at very dilute doses (about a quarter of what the bottle suggests) every other watering or so and they all seem to do doing well. Since I keep my house thermostat controlled and most are under some sort of grow light, they’ve been growing through the winter. This system has worked for me and I haven’t experimented much. This spring though I am trying some worm castings that I use for the garden in my indoor plants. Fingers crossed!

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience here! I use worm castings in the soil of my plants and then I also fertilize with Instant Plant Food. In my experience, they really like the combination :-)
      Looking forward to hearing how it works for you 💚

    Another thoughtful video! Thank you! I agree that with fertilizer less is more. Think about coffee. One cup in the morning is nice, six cups is too many!!!
    As for when and how to fertilize I read about the plants first. Lots of succulents do not need fertilizer- they grow in sandy soil, and all plants create their own food using water, sunlight and carbon dioxide.
    Also, too many minerals can hinder plant health, so it is important to relieve the soil of minerals from city water - a couple times a year you can flush the soil with a thorough watering, and you can repot with fresh soil on a nice warm day.
    I allow my plant water to stand overnight to release chlorine before watering my Calathea.
    I do fertilize my blooming plants, I feed African Violets using Espoma Organic and I feed summer annual flowers with an all purpose Espoma product too.
    I am going to look into tablet fertilizer- that is a GREAT idea!
    Thanks again for a beautiful video - you bring so much joy to the world!

    How does fertilizer work if I am already adding worm castings to my soil? Is it still necessary?

      I''m using worm castings as well and using them together with liquid fertilizer because worm castings are mostly micro nutrients and liquid fertilizers are macro nutrients. I read that somewere a while ago

      Hi Kevin! My experience has been similar to Danny's :-) I use worm castings for all of my plants (as an ingredient to my potting mix recipe) and also started using the fertilizer I talk about in this video (which has macro-nutrients but it's not super dense) - If you want more info, you can find their link in the description of this video. I can say the combination of the worm castings with Instant Plant Food fertilizer has proven to be super helpful for my plants as they are growing really nicely this season 💚

      @PlantsandLucia  Před 2 lety

      These are the measurements:
      4% - N (Nitrogen)
      3% - P2O5 (Phosphate)
      6% - K2O (Potash)
      It has proven to be super helpful for my plants as they are growing really nicely this season :-)
