    For people that don't know....
    The "random black guy" in the background is Denaun Porter (also known as Mr. Porter and Kon Artis). He is a close friend of Eminem, was in the group D12 (along with Em,) helped produce Eminem's first album (Infinite), and is Eminem's current hype man, after Proof (Eminem's best friend, D12 member, etc) died in 06.
    A hype man is the 2nd guy that helps the main rapper rap along and finish his/hers sentences (usually when the main rapper is out of breath). In a song as complex as this, a hype man is crucial. Without one, Em would be gasping for air.

    This album MMLP2 touches on every part of Eminem's career. It has the darkness of the first MMLP, the somewhat FED UP sound on the Slim Shady LP, the pin point precision of The Eminem Show, the playfulness of Encore, the rapid fire aggressive flow on Recovery and Bad Meets Evil, and some of the silly and crazy moments of Relapse. MAKES THIS ALBUM FUCKIN INSANE.

    If you look closely, the people complaining about the "fat, black guy in the background" are mainly people with usernames and profile pictures that would suggest that they are six year olds or people with the brain capacities of one. Let me help you guys,
    Welcome to hip-hop. No one performs the entire song without some sort of assistance. Sometimes, rappers perform over a playback, sometimes they lip sync completely. In this case, Eminem performs with his hype man, Mr. Porter. It's Mr. Porter's job to keep the energy flowing and finish whatever lines Eminem need to take a break for.
    It's a simple concept, but you know, half of Eminem's fanbase is composed of toddlers; How could I blame them?

    Back in my High School days, I was completely avoiding rap and instead was into the rock and roll scene (classic and modern rock) - Back then you usually liked one or the other, not both - In my later years though, I've really started to love and appreciate the greats in Rap and hip hop.
    It's a shame though, that so many rap fans just stick to hip hop/rap and don't cross over into all the great rock out there. If you dig into what people like Eminem, Dre, Jay-Z, etc are into : they'll tell you they are HUGE rock fans - They were rockin out to Nirvana just like I did and nowadays they recognize bands like Arcade Fire and Grizzly Bear as some of the best --- They are STEEPED in music of all types - it's where they draw some of their musical inspiration. Many of their fans should open their minds a bit in checking out and appreciating other musical genres.

      I don't think anyone currently can yet surpass Tupac. He had the ability to change the hiphop culture itself as Makavelli and put an end to the thuggish hiphop mentality by dissing it. It's also like a classical movie, you can't put those who inspired to be like him to be better than him. How can you rate Gone With The Wind with the top ten movies of today? Of course, Gone With The Wind out ranks them because it carries an eternal quality. Almost every rapper puts Tupac as #1 for various reason. Also there's a reason why people would say, "if Tupac was still alive, would he still be head of the game?" or "If Tupac was still alive, would rap be the same? (the most common saying to be honest)" He has that strong of a vibe for everyone.
      Pretty much, you have to take that power into consideration and why people are saying this. He's also the most known conscious rapper, with actual classrooms in universities studying his lyrical talent and philosophy over poverty lifestyles. Not many rappers put their whole perspective of life over everything they rap about. Even when he raps negatively before becoming Makavelli, he always says: "I'm a child of my environment". Eminem is #2 because he knows how to be lyrical, but he doesn't really have a philosophy like Tupac does (it's the same methods a lot of rappers have), but he does show a transition like Tupac did, from being a tough dude to a peaceful man. And he's different because he can rap fast and slow melodiously, but speed doesn't make him better. People tend to think that with Eminem.
      He is above Biggie Smalls because he puts "emotion" into his music more than BIG and shows a transition over the decade. BIG only talked about partying, fighting, loving, and showed no transition. He had great lyrics and flow, but doesn't show a transition or creative persona like people such as Grandmaster Flash and his song The Message. Eminem does slightly beat Nas because of his emotions and flexible lyrics. Nas shows no emotion, but really puts it out there as though he's Socrates in Hip Hop, but there are people who do more conscious rapping than him who don't really have credit (you should check out underground Hip Hop, there are some people who are almost as good as Eminem). This is why it's not good to make a list on who's the best if you provide only mainstreamed artists (Jay Z should never be in the top ten unless you're a fan I guess lol).
      50 Cent is well respected only because he knows how to flow for club music, gangster music and have albums that are very nostalgic and soundtrack-worthy. But he's no #5. Eminem's Oscar doesn't make him the best (someone here stated), because it competed with whatever came out that "year" in "movies' soundtracks", not whatever came out every album of Hip Hop history, with and without being in a movie's soundtrack at that.
      I hope people read this. It gets irritating when there's a top list, especially with Eminem at #1...

    • @Curthe93
      @Curthe93 Před 10 lety +1

      Marquis Miller I agree with about half of what you wrote, but the other half I disagree with.
      Tupac is only considered a great rapper because he died. That's how fame works. During his time, he wasn't much more popular than any of the other scores of rappers and rap groups which were relevant, such as Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, OutKast, all members of NWA, Nas, and Public Enemy. I mean the only reason why Tupac was given the spotlight in the first place was because he was signed to Snoop's label and Snoop gave him the opportunity to go out and make a name for himself. If Snoop died instead of Tupac, you wouldn't see Tupac's name anywhere near a top 5 list. So Tupac is definitely the most influential rapper of all time, but he only had one or two good albums, and he isn't the best of all time. Nas is probably the holder of the GOAT title. Illmatic is a masterpiece, It Was Written follows closely behind Illmatic, and most of the rest of his discography is solid.
      Biggie Smalls definitely talked a lot about hustling, but so did Tupac. And Biggie definitely made emotional and meaningful songs; just look at Suicidal Thoughts, Juicy, Notorious Thugs, and Everyday Struggle. But he just wasn't a guy who often put out emotional music, that doesn't mean his lyrics aren't flexible. And remember: Eminem came up only talking about being rowdy. Infinite was all about smacking up MCs, The Slim Shady LP was all about the Slim Shady character who is a menace to society, and MMLP featured Kill You, Drug Ballad, The Real Slim Shady, Remember Me, Bitch Please, Under The Influence, etc. And then his work with D12 solidifies his early years as talking about meaningless things with a couple of emotional songs every here and there.
      50 Cent doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a top 50 list. He is just an act associated with Eminem who had a couple of radio-friendly songs. That doesn't mean he's at all important to the rap game. He's entirely disposable.
      I also think we're getting close to a point in time where we'll be able to say Kanye West belongs on the list of top 5 hip hop artists of all time. People won't say this until after he retires, but his discography has been pretty much golden thus far. Eminem may be infinitely more popular than Kanye, especially radio-wise, but Kanye has been putting out much better material.

    • @Sypher474
      @Sypher474 Před 10 lety +100

      A hype man is required for live performances, as they give you small moments to catch your breath. Studio recordings are very rarely one long single take, with each verse done individually, or even a line at a time, then it's all matched together. They are also done standing still in a booth, not jumping around on stage. Even with Denaun finishing off lines for him to take a real gulp of air, you can see Em gets way out of breath sometimes, and can barely get lines out with any force. Without him there, it would be a complete mess.
      I do agree, though. Mr.Porters voice has never suited Em in the hype man role.
      Em's life long friend, Proof, was always his hype man, and they were a great team. Voices worked together, and they bounced off eachother at the perfect moments. If you watch closely, you will see Denaun often misses when Em wants cover, and even spits the wrong line towards the end of the track.
      RIP PROOF.
