Every time I watch this I have tears in my eyes- it’s not because of their astonishing skills but how immersed they are into the music. The enormous pleasure in their eyes shows how much they enjoy playing the piece together and that deeply touches my soul. Kudos to the Dad who finally made it to the stage all musicians dream to get on.
There is a great biography by BBC about Lang Lang called “ Do or Die”, for those who were arguing below about why Lang lang’s dad didn’t have a career as professional er hu player, watch the biography starting at 28:00. Both Lang lang’s dad and mom were talented musicians since they were young, yet unfortunately during the time they grew up, the political group that one’s family was assigned to dictated the fate of the entire family. For example, one wouldn’t be admitted to college or find a decent job if s/he was from a wrong kind of family. Lang lang’s grandfather on his dad’s side was labeled as anti-revolutionary and was persecuted. As a result, his dad would have no chance to get a good job as a erhu musician no matter how good he was.

The brilliant Lang Lang, a longtime favourite of mine excels in this duet with his father, Lang Guo-ren. The music is fun and laughs at itself. The ancient instrument leads the piano and then later, dances with the piano, an embrace of two rhythms. The sum product of these virtuosos produces a light care-free masterpiece with such a loving intertwining of father and son. I see it as a musical interpretation of love, life and the marvellous expression of being alive. Thank you so much for this admirable video presentation.

dimitri Yeah. Greek taught that earth is the centre of the universe. And who disagree will be sentenced to death. Aristotle also say women have fewer teeth than men 😓. He also say eels dont reproduce but they SPONTANEOUSLY GENERATE FROM MUD. 😌😌 I laugh so hard hahahha. French+Brits+German are the best. They truly taught everything to the world. Greek just taught easy things. Everything greek taught is easy and everyone knows it even if u didnt teach. 😑😑😑
