Is it only me, or does the game seem not as good as the first Painkiller? I mean, yes, it is harder and got interesting enemies and levels, but it still feels duller. Might be because this one doesn't have metal OSTs like the other probably?

most of the soundtrack is repetitive/forgettable, like some levels have the exact same ambiance or battle music. enemies deal more damage, but it's only the new enemies, the ones who are reused from the original still deal only 1hp
weapons are comparatively weaker too because enemies also have increased health, so you see stuff like shotgun not killing at point blank range with a single blast, or a triple barrel cannon not killing anyone in a group of enemies, etc. ammo is also scarser than in Pk BE, and levels are stylistically too out there and all over the place, like they are out of some fantasy game, or different games.
sometimes it also feels like Mindware were forced to make this game a Painkiller, for example some of the early levels are genuinely interesting, especially in chapter 1, but later down the road they feel more and more like they were added out of obligation

@@blueshit199 Totally agree. Painkiller 1 experience is great, Painkiller Overdose is what you stop playing mid-progress and leave in the shelf to gather dust.

@@paulcopper299 I beat it twice or thrice before, now I'm running through it again, this time unlocking tarot cards. my theory that the czech wanted to make their own thing on the pain engine, but then dream catcher forced them to make a painkiller game, is reinforced by the fact that the final four levels all have the same card unlocking status, lol
also, original painkiller had more thought put into it than people give it credit for, like enemies in each mission were progressively more advanced, and tarot cards were unlocked in such a way that naturally taught you to play the game better

sadly yes, in Resurrection, Redemption and Recurring Evil, where Daniel and Belial team up to kill her, Sammael then turns back on them, and Bill from Resurrection kills him and becomes the ruler of Purgatory. Daniel never gets proper closure afaik and simply wakes up in Painkiller Hell & Damnation
