Clearly the mother is toxic.....but you know who is even MORE toxic? Kayla. The fact that she refuses to just graciously get lost, forever, is appalling.
It’s okay to keep ties with the exe’s family, if they were close.
And kind of understandable, if there are children involved.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
If the in-laws want to stay in touch with the ex, they should do it on their own time - NOT at their son’s wedding to his new wife!!
Still has the engagement photo on her phone speaks volumes. This MIL is going to cause trouble. She may be uninvited.
Why does Kayla want to go to her ex's wedding after 4yrs?! Having a relationship and talking with the his mom still kinda weird but some people do it, but still attending all their family events?! Girl get over it and move on!

I have to admit I told my son that no matter what happens with him and GF that the rest of the family is keeping her. Son just laughed and assured me he was also keeping her ♥️ Married 12 years with two kids ❤
This reminds me so much of my ex’s mother. She tried everything she could to break us up, which unfortunately, worked. And she’d smile in my face and tell me how wonderful a person she thought me to be, but in the same breath tell me I deserved better, as if she were doing me a favor. But she would call me several times a week to ask me for favors, such as take her shopping, as if we were besties. Just remembering her makes my skin crawl.
As an aroace person who’s not interested in romance and therefore probably doesn’t understand it too much, someone explain to me how you can be together for that long and then the second you break up you’re expected to just cut all contact? Like is it really that frowned upon to still be friends and have a relationship with the family and such? Assuming the ex didn’t do something horrible ofc and it just didn’t work out for some reason
Like I get not having them come to family events and such, this particular situation does sound very weird, but would it still be weird if they were just still friends? And if the family didn’t always bring her up and she wasn’t involved in every event and such, but she still saw them sometimes/just became a friend/close friend? Or is it normally just “oop! We broke up. Pretend we never even knew each other even though we were together for YEARS” because that itself seems really weird to me.
I’d be really dissapointed if I got close with one of my sister’s romantic partners and then the relationship didn’t work out but nothing bad happened, and then I was just expected to cut all contact
