    I really like the compactness with the unit in the cabinetry. One question I do have: How would you handle center channel speaker placement? This would make for an interesting video.

    • @Mr.HotRod
      @Mr.HotRod Před rokem +1

      Very good question. Would have to have the screen a little higher and have a wall mountable center channel mounted underneath the screen or a small in height soundbar and hope whatever you use does not hit the bottom of the image being projected. This is going to be true with all of the short throws.

  • @KimmoJaskari

    You should really move the projector until it hits the screen perfectly square without any digital adjustments. Digital adjustments slightly compromises the quality. Having it "wide open" and manually placing the projector until it's spot on is a pain in the ass but it's still the way to go if you're not just being lazy. That's why all the feet on the projector are adjustable, it's not to make it look pretty and flat against the hole in the TV bench, it's to make sure you get it to fit perfectly on the screen with just manual tweaking of the positioning.

    Excellent and helpful video. I'm buying an LS800, but because we watch TV in our multi-purpose living room, we have to use a pull-down screen attached to the ceiling. Do they even make ALR pull-down screens? If not, what would you recommend?

  • @Talon17
    @Talon17 Před 11 měsíci +2

    I just bought this projector but am still waiting on the screen to be delivered. This does seem like it will be a nice bright projector, especially with ambient light. The main issue with this projector that I am having a hard time with is the fact that IT IS NOT A 4K PROJECTOR! This projector receives 4k signals but outputs a 2k to 3k image with its pixel shift technology. They try to justify this by saying the human eye cannot tell the difference from normal viewing distances and their 3LCD technology makes up for any perceived resolution loss. While this may be true in many circumstances it does not change the fact that the projector projects way fewer pixels then a true 4k pixel shift projector. This is absolutely false advertising on Epson's part and I am shocked that they are not getting in trouble for it. You will notice a difference in resolution clarity with this projector compared to other true 4k pixel shift projectors, especially if you are up close to a 120" to 150" screen. The only thing that may be better on this projector regarding the image is the brightness and clarity with moving images due to Epson's 3LCD technology. So, it is a tradeoff with a true 4k projector, but Epson should not be allowed to market this as a true 4k projector.

      What’s the picture quality like? And did the screen make any improvement? What screen you get? Asking as I’ve got the Samsung projector and the picture quality isn’t good in comparison to a oled tv, I’m returning it tomorrow, and either getting this projector as it’s brighter or a 85” oled, grateful for any feedback

    • @Talon17
      @Talon17 Před 9 měsíci

      @Mambo1701e I got the Epson 120" short throw screen for half off with the projector at Bestbuy. It does make a big difference. It really comes down to what you want. An oled will be a much better image with higher resolution and contrast, but a projector provides that huge imersive theater image. If you are sitting close to the screen, I would recommend the 85" oled as you will notice the pixelation on the projector image. If you are sitting a ways back from the screen, I would recommend the projector, as the larger image will be more imersive and you will not notice the pixelation.

    Is this screen acoustically transparent? If not are there any UST Screens that are? With this cabinet and some decent in-walls this could be the ultimate discreet 3.0 system for a living room

    • @justinbeamon6624

      @chrismatson1984 Před rokem

      From my knowledge I don't think you can get a proper acoustic transparent screen that's also an ALR screen because of how it works. VividStorm have one but it's only the bottom part that is not the ALR part.

    Not knowing that you focus before you adjust the alignment is kind of a fail.
    Likewise, not mentioning that digital keystone correction is absolutely NOT what anyone should be doing because you will have light spilling onto the wall. These are always the problems when advertising for a product rather than being real about the actual product. UST projectors are much more difficult to setup properly than standard projectors, but UST/ALR screens are a lot better than standard throw screens and much better than standard throw ALR screens.

  • @haukurorsson833
    @haukurorsson833 Před rokem +1

    Isn't it better to physically move the projector to adjust the image so it's perfectly aligned with the screen? Moving the corners via software is probably like using keystone correction on a regular projector, which can affect image quality, right?

    • @eEvangeliste
      @eEvangeliste Před rokem

      Yep…you are right.
      Keystone should be use only for the last adjustment.
      I guess he didn’t want to struggle with moving the pj back and forth Lol 😂
      That’s the only problem with UST projectors.

      Yeah, if you run it at max brightness I hear it gets loud. But you can always run it at like 2/3rds where it quiets down a lot. Almost all other UST's require you to come out a long way into the room, much further from the wall than this.

    I am a Epson lover. I have several high end Epson products but I was going to bite on this, but NO support for 3d movies. Crying shame. Probably would of cost Epson less then $50.00 to have the 3d chip added to the unit. Come on Epson. Especially there are now several high end theatre movies coming out in 3d.
