Thanks , really useful information.
Excellent video. I just discovered and bought this kit last night. As someone who's always wanted to try the back buttons but was unwilling to shell out the $$$ for a scuf or Battle Beaver, this is the perfect introduction for me. It should deliver tomorrow, just can't wait to do the assembly and try it out
@@endlesslc2928 absolutely. It was my primary controller until I got a PS5 and I’m really hoping that they make a similar kit for the Dualsense (complete shell replacement rather than just the paddle kit Rise 4)
@@huntergurley5994do you still have the controller? If so, are you selling it?
@@marty8150 I do still have it but no intention to sell it. It’s the controller I use if I’m playing Apex
This looks very interesting and i might just get one
Man for the price it's definitely worth it. Particularly if you have a compatible model controller that could use a facelift.
Yep I mod my PS4 Controller with the DIY kit. I enjoy it and plan to mod two additional controllers. PS4 controllers also work with the PS5 console.
Hey bro! Nice video, I have a question bro:
1. I want to know the input lag, when you press K1 or K2 is really responsive?
@isaacfd_ since it connects directly to the controller there should be no input lag as it is the same as pressing the normal button just from a different spot from the controllers view.
Do you find you ever accidently press any of the back buttons? Is it really that much better than the Sony back button attachment?
I think accidentally hitting the back buttons really depends on the person and type of game that you’re playing. For me, back buttons are no good for fighting games, even though in theory they should be amazing.
Yes I do believe this is superior to Sony’s back button. I have both and never use the back button
Do the face buttons and dpad protrude a little more than on the standard shell? It seems that way when they were side by side
Yes, quite a bit more. I can't say that I've noticed a difference while using it though
@@goukigod does it feel better or worse when they protrude like this? In your opinion of course
@@JayKayX71 they protrude more but the button is inset rather than sitting on top, which I think is much more comfortable. It also allows you to press the button from different angles, whereas the buttons that sit on top of the shell typically need to be pressed from the top
Awesome review man I’m just curious why anybody would remap the touchpad and analog stick to the back buttons
Depends on the game but in many FPS pushing the left stick down is run. Having this set to a button makes a big difference.
On cod, remapping the L3 to a back button gives you the ability to hold breath without moving the stick accidentally. It's a lot more comfortable to snipe now
@@goukigod does the controller feel similar to the dual shock 5 once assembled? Is the chunkyness a big difference compared to the ps4 normal controller? i live Australia and was wandering where i could buy the decade remap kit?
@Loky Lock I don't know if you can buy it in a bricks and mortar. Best place is Amazon. It feels very different to a standard Dualshock 4, both in the size and the texture of the plastic. I guess the closest analog would be an xbox 360 controller. I haven't held a PS5 controller yet so I can't comment on how it compares sorry.
@@goukigod thanks man appreciate the feed back, I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon it's going to get here on the 20th of December I'll let you know how I go with. Thanks again man!
What do you think of RISE4 compared to DECADE and DAWN? How you would rank all of them?
I haven't used the RISE4 yet but I would choose the Decade over the Dawn hands down. It's just more solid and the buttons are in a better position. I also really like the shell design. It's very comfortable.
@@goukigod did you have issues with pressing the buttons accidentally ? In either of them?
It will really depend on the person and the game. For most games, I have no issues. No accidental button inputs. I find them reasonably useless for fighting games though because I will accidentally hit buttons.
A couple of addendums:
* It doesn't have profiles, so you can't have different setups for different games
* You can still plug headphones into the audio jack on the controller
* The calluses on my hands are nasty. Sorry
Anyone interested in buying this: beware. I've got significant tech skills (built 10+ PCs and done previous controller mods). This shell refused to fit when installed with the proper specs (JDM-040), and bricked my PS4 controller's motherboard, rendering it completely unusable even when I tried to install it back into its original shell.
Thanks for a great review! Been eyeing this mod for a while and your review have given me the perfect excuse to buy myself a Xmas present!
