Every time I watch him cruising away from the camera , I just imagine him having to paddle back to fetch it again . The commitment and cheery mood always makes me feel more relaxed and in love with nature. Thank you for all your hard work. Loved this video, made me chuckle a lot 😁

Nice trip, MP! A word about knots: the correct way, which is indeed prettier, is designed not only to fail less when stressed at max levels, but also to put the least amount of strain to the rope (lessen the microscopic fraying each use). However, as you always say, "you do you". Cheers! 😉

And you're not weird and the sound of a water and I live in Michigan and the only water I've ever been on was lake Sinclair cuz my grandparents live down the water and I miss that and when I hear this water with him rowing the boat I'm like man I wish I was there I probably will never have a chance to be in a boat again but I'm going to try to push my husband this summer to run let's run a canoe somewhere or a boat and just either either just go driving in the boat or go fishing I grew up fishing I could out fish my dad and my grandpa they used to get so mad

Am I the only one who silently cheers Ruegs on the more he ‘gets’ the whole camping/travel experience. Lots to learn for the little guy. But he’s maturing nicely. He’s starting to understand what ya need from him. He does quite well in the spot that requires him to reposition a lot. Especially, when you go under logs. It kind of works with his ‘busy’ and yet graceful energy. Kind of proud of him. Course Monty is a rock for you both.

when you sliced up that chicken I noticed a couple pieces looked not cooked all the way through, that would explain the "night poops" What don't kill us, makes us stronger!
That chicken was definitely not cooked through. No wonder he got the runs.
Yes, 15-20% of that chicken was raw/undercooked. It needed 1-2 minutes more cooking in that oil and it would been perfect. If you are a fan of the channel, we all know Matt is short on patience while in the realm of cooking, lol. When he cuts up a steak right after he cooks it, I cringe, seeing all the important and flavorful juices run out. He can't help waiting to let the meat rest for 10-15 min. Eventually he learns, hahaha.

Honestly, Rueger is my favourite. I know, I know, he's at home with Funk. But I like it when you bring him along so he gets to experience the cool adventures too. He's a sweetheart. Eyes that can make you melt, utterly playful puppy even though he's been grown up for quite some time now!
Monty’s awesome but I prefer Rueger too, I like that he isn’t a bully and just enjoys everyone’s company. The best trips are when other dogs like Layla or Frodo join in. My family watches these for hours and it’s a breath of air to see them all having a good time. 💛
What kind of dog is Rueger? Is he an Australian shepherd?

Funk before it started to rain on matt & the boys, rugger was only visible & his fluffiness was noticed .... then the campsite started I finally got to see Monty the fluffy king! Your time & love you spend on your boys to groom them adds to the great adventures you & matt give to us, the viewers.

True monte Cristo sandwich is three slices of french toast, swiss cheese, ham, turkey on each side of french toast, dusted with powered sugar and served with raspberry jam. The French toast is made from stale bread and it soaks in the egg mixture for at least an hour.
I almost missed that whole water convo. That’s kind of cute that Reugs has to have a sip of your water whenever you get some out. Lol. I’m starting to really like Reugs. A bit of a nut job but still more loyal, intelligent and affectionate than I initially gave him credit for. He’s got a lot of personality. I like that about him. Lol. He’s a ‘character.’ Lol

It took me a little while to warm up to Rueger. When I first joined this channel, the videos were almost always just Matthew and Monty alone. So when Ruegs joined, it felt like he was an intruder, especially given his high energy level. But his personality and intelligence have definitely won me over!

Oh I concur. I'm a complex lady that likes simple things. Nothing like the crackle of the fire, the peace and sound of nature. The absolutely hilarious things that happen because he's so inventive and silly. So much better than TV. I haven't watched TV since 2013. Don't miss it a bit.

I’d love to cut the cord completely but it’s hard when I’m not working. During the Monty Christo part, the dogs alerted to some noise like a bark, did you hear it Matthew?
That wasn't a bark at 1:37:40 that sounded like a banshee or screeching. The dogs were definitely alerted and reacted to that weird screeching. I'd be spooked out if I heard that in the woods.

I’ve been watching you for a few years but it’s only in the last 12 months of making videos myself that Ive started to notice the effort you go to to get some of your travel shots and sequences.
I noticed a good one early in the video where you would’ve had to hike 100yards downriver and up a tree to position your camera and then not to mention go back to retrieve it.

Your comment reminds me of something. When I was 5 my neighbor and I Jennifer we asked our parents if we could build a living room out front in the yard. We built a couch a chair and ottoman a chaise lounge a fake TV a coffee table and two end tables. Well we were having a hard freeze. Jennifer and I decided to make it last all winter. And it was no joke at last at all winter. We were really excited to show our parents what we had built. Went in and they're like oh I hope you didn't do a living room out in my front yard? Oops. It lasted practically all winter which was hilarious. And we played on it everyday. So much fun.

Beautiful video. Sure was an interesting paddle along that lake 😃. Your patience & good humour throughout that part of the journey was incredible.
The boys were so good in the boat. They are testament to your & Funk's hard work in training them. It was sad to see your Winter Shelter was no longer standing but the Shelter you created with the Tarp was ingenious & looked super cosy & effective.

Have to say tho, there is always one part of all your camping videos I really don't like & that's when you start dismantling your camp & packing everything away 😥😣. That always makes me sad because it means we're coming to the end of the video. 😥.

Hey Matthew question. Does anyone ever keep up on those waterways? I wasn’t sure if the State or Parks or anyone ever ride down those to clean them up from down trees? Just like with beavers they can completely destroy & change the eco system & waterways. Sorry but I laughed watching a 6’ plus man trying to scoot down in his canoe to get under a tree. 🤣. Glad you were finally successful in getting your head underneath that down tree. You are either brave or crazy taking both dogs plus all of that gear in 1 boat. We both know it’s the crazy part but I’ll let you think there was an option…🤣. Thanks for another fun video. The shelter turned out to be pretty amazing. That’s one of the things I love about your winter camping. The ones to create are a once in a lifetime. Especially when you dig down into the snow to use as the walls. I love how you guys pick dog names. I’m alway trying to think outside the box for my fur baby names. Personally it’s weird to meet doggies with human names….🤣. Like a dogs name can be ANYTHING…like a breakfast sandwich. One of the FD’s here has a Dalmatian station dog & his name is Poop. No lie…that’s what they names him. 🤣

That looked like a fantastic trip and had quite the obstacle course at the beginning. Happy to see the full boat get through that without incident. Your tarp setup was quite luxurious and I loved the quiet scenes of camp activities. You should go with your “gut” dislike of raw chicken. I thinks some portions were definitely undercooked and you paid for it during the night.

Sometimes you’re on for an entire day and night and I go to sleep listening to you and your pooches. Last night it was the tarps you set up in the Spring snow storm episode. 😆 My favorite part of your videos is Montes teeth and his mouth that never closes! 😝 Also when you play with his sleeping mat. Watching this particular video reminded me of when I was in Indonesia. We had two “long boats”, three feet wide, 12-15 feet long. A 5 hour slow go, using a chainsaw to cut some trees. Then we had a 4 hour hike. That was the first time I did not mind drinking “warm water” in the rainforest. That night we slept in a cave. Sleeping mat, with a very, very light sleeping bag liner.
