  • Day 14 of the Ramadan Special Advent brings an FRV on route 58 from East Ham Central Park to Walthamstow Central. The route is usually not that long but I was unlucky with a slow driver and Upton Park traffic which was annoying. I did enjoy the route and it was packed lol! I do recommend doing this route though:)

    Route 58 commenced operation on 3rd Feb 1960 between Walthamstow Crooked Billet and North Woolwich operated by London Transport from Walthamstow (WW) and West Ham (WH) using AEC Routemasters. 27th Jan 1965 Leyland Titans were introduced. On 18 April 1970 the route was withdrawn between Canning Town and North Woolwich. 22nd April 1978 the route was extended from Crooked Billet to Chingford Mount. On 31st January 1981 the route was withdrawn between Leyton and Chingford Mount except for Monday to Friday peaks and extended from Silvertown to North Woolwich and the Walthamstow (WW) allocation was transferred to West Ham (WH). On 23rd April 1983 the route converted to Leyland Titans. In 1988, the route was withdrawn between Walthamstow Central and Crooked Billet / Chingford Mount and between Canning Town and North Woolwich and at the same time, the Sunday service was withdrawn and the Walthamstow (WV) allocation was transferred to West Ham (WH). On 10 October 1992 West Ham (WH) was announced closed and the allocation was transferred to Leyton (T). On 28th April 2001 the route converted to using brand new ALX400s and N58 was introduced but on March 27th 2004 it was withdrawn and 58 became a 24hour service. On 5th March 2005 the route passed to First from Hackney (H) using Plaxton Presidents and the night service was withdrawn. On 15th December 2007 Hackney (H) closed and the allocation transferred to Lea Interchange. On 6th March 2010 the route converted to using newly introduced Gemini 2 B9TLs. On 22 June 2013 the route was included in the sale of First London's Lea Interchange (LI) garage to Tower Transit. On 4th March 2017 new Mcv Evosetis were introduced alongside the Gemini 2s.
