Randy Brown was one the best defensive guards in the L during his Bulls career, and he got very little recognotion outside of hardcore fans. Look at his defence on AI; he didn't get shook or crossed, he matched him step for step. Iverson was just THAT good, so talented that he could still score on the toughest defenders. Randy gave him mad respect at the end there.

@Ulysses432 Still it may be overhyped due to Iverson having better crossovers on other players but since it was MJ it was a big dead he never got exposed on defense like that before not to mention Iverson shook him twice in the same play.. He also was only a rookie at the time which makes it even more remarkable I don't think any player today would be able to do that to MJ not even Kyrie

In terms of that guard skill set, I will give you that Kobe was the closest thing to MJ. But the reason MJ is considered the GOAT by like 99% of people is because he has almost no flaws in his resume. You can’t say the same for Kobe. He also won a bunch of rings, always as the undisputed #1 guy on his teams. If MJ’s team was going to win the championship, there was never even remotely any question that he would be the Finals MVP. If MJ had the luxury of having a teammate who was even better than him early in his career like Kobe did, he would probably have like 9 rings. This is why just counting rings is ridiculous- you have to look at the context of how those rings were won. But in terms of that skill set, particularly for guards, no one came closer to MJ than Kobe.

The Bigs will always dominate the game more than guards, AI was the best guard in the league from 1999-2005 but because of guys like Shaq, Duncan & Ben Wallace, their teams had far more team success.

No scoring champions win championships, MJ did it 6 times and finished no 1 in scoring average, scoring championships and in Finals MVP. No wingers were supposed to dominate and win, Jordan made it a wingers' game alltogether. No teams were supposed to win without bigs, Jordan was the Bulls primary post up player in all of their championships. No offensive players were supposed to dominate defensively, Jordan did it completely. No short players were supposed to get DPOY, Jordan did, whilst winning the scoring title, never done before. No basketball players were supposed to be the biggest sports' icons globally (it was always soccer, boxing etc) Jordan dwarfed everybody. I could go on forever, but you get the picture.
