Fun videos! I do have to disagree about boarding early. That is a great time to take videos and tour the ship. It is also a great time to do popular attractions like the flow rider, water slides, etc as there are usually not any lines yet. You will find sea days are the busiest for those.
We just got off Symphony of the Seas and did enjoy being on board early. This one was tough because the weather was so nasty - leading to not wanting to do much on the pool deck, and numbers were still restricted so there was not a great amount of stuff to do. On this trip we really wanted to spend more time in the LA area, but our flight got delayed and we missed out on that time. Definitely time a place to be early or late depending on port and ship activities for sure - thank you!
I agree with you 100% on trying to select a check-in time in the middle of the window. I time it so that I can go straight to the room once I board. But some people have to have their free food, and some people have to get their drinking started as soon as possible to get turned inside out and upside down. Also, people would rather sit around and do nothing on a ship as opposed to sit around and do nothing in a hotel room.
Agree with you on all accounts. If you have something better to do it makes sense to take your time getting on board, but I definitely like the idea of being able to go straight to your room to put stuff away - I hate carrying extra stuff around to the buffet and so on.
The one time we were on a cruise, we also brought 2 bottles of wine and at that time carnival let you bring on 2 twelve packs of pop. There was no such thing as a water package... but I would so buy that now!
HaHa, we already bought the water package for our next two cruises, seems silly but is so nice. Totally could see doing the 12 packs of soda for the room as well. We are likely to do the drink packages on the next two so likely no wine for our carry-ons in the future
Guessing the drinks you saved $ by not buying the package. Food options, not sure but sometimes they offer great discounts to eat at the specialty dining, so I think you will save there too. The thing I am certain and would bet on, is you guys had a great time! As always, thanks for sharing!
The drink package is definitely the biggest cost of the two. Can expect $500-600 for a 4 nights and $900-$1000 for a 7 nighter (for two people) so it really depends on the vacation you are on. Sometimes it makes sense to do it other times you make it work without it we figure. Thanks so much for supporting and watching.
It will be very interesting to compare pricing with your other cruise once this trip is done. I rarely drink alcohol, so a only meal upgrade package would probably be of value to me. But everything looks very nice so far!
I will give you a hint - we will be doing the meal upgrade moving forward. The nice thing is that you can do all nights, 3 nights, or even single/double packages for the nice meals. The dining room was fine but we are foodies, and the upgrade is not dramatically expensive. The drink package on the other hand is legit money 500-600 for 4 night trips and 900-1000 for 7 night trips (for 2) so that we will see what the cruise is before deciding on that one.

Hey! Just starting to watch this video! Thx r for posting! So I'm booked on the three day in February. Trying decide if I should park at the cruise terminal or pay for a park and stay hotel rate at a nearby hotel with a shuttle. Did you park your car at the terminal? And even if you didn't did it seem like a pretty safe parking lot? Do you know if it's fenced in or any kind of security? Thanks!
We flew in and took an Uber to the terminal. The parking lot is right outside the boarding area and there is a fence around it with security when we were there during the daytimes so likely secure but don’t know the prices.
We had a good time with it. For us we would prefer this style since I like to stay on the move and see lots, and think too long on the island would be boring, if staying for more than a day or two.
We have actually never gotten the Internet package. We enjoy the “disconnected” feel of not being able to focus on social media while on a cruise. One of the few times in the world today you really can not focus on it
We have done two cruises now since Reopening and have done different ways each time, both were simple and easy. We were given home tests that Royal Caribbean has approved from coworkers whose cruise was cancelled - We did them from our home on a video call and was done in 15-20 minutes but these do cost around $30 or more. We also went to our local urgent care and asked for a test for travel, and it was done quickly - then got results in email later that day. We did not have to pay for the urgent care test since it was covered with insurance.
Are you asking about the one on the balcony itself? I think you might be noticing the partitions between balconies. You can open them if you have friends next door so you can share a balcony.

I've always wanted to take the Catalina cruise. Do you think it's worth a short trip? b/c I would love to just stay in the island.

It can I believe but we didn’t know our neighbors so we did not ask

We stayed at the Courtyard Longbeach Downtown…it was nice and closer to the beach than we guessed! Plenty of food and drink options too!
