    Thx. You just saved me $400. I could throw a drop in filter in and get the same results for a lot less money. That intake is the best designed out off all the others so with more mods it would probably shine. This lets you know how efficient the factory setup is nowadays.

    It’s amazing that majority of the independent tests on cold air intake systems commonly either lose a bit of HP and torque or possible gain 1 HP. It’s difficult to know what’s real anymore, yet what is an absolute fact is Cold Air Intakes are absolutely a waste of money. You won’t feel any difference in performance at all, only the sound possibly coming from under the hood. Ridiculous cost for nothing !!

  • @Jimmyxsx

I've tried both this and the K&N on my 6.2L and could not feel ANY difference except both made the truck sound louder with a nice deep growl when you smashed the gas pedal. The ONLY difference was the K&N was a little louder. I'm currently doing a datalog of the IATs with this CAI, K&N and oem with drop in... I will try to update this post with my results.

      I've never seen a stock 6.2 nearing 400, not even close.
      I've seen 331whp on the low end and 350whp on the high end. This is all dependent on the dyno being used, ambient air temperature and elevation.
      No doubt the 6.2s are stronger than 5.3s. Not surprisingly, though, GM releases these 5.3s so rich they drown. It's like they're purposely de-tuned.

    • @leamangriffin
      @leamangriffin  Před 4 lety

      The unlock is not the tune though.. it just makes the ecm able to be tuned. You still would have to purchase the tuning software or take the truck to a shop to have them tune it after unlocking it. Most tuning shops will take the ecm out and send it off to be unlocked for you as well.

    For those saying cold air intakes are a waste of money, you are wrong. For years, and for many cars today, they do help out with power, throttle response and sound. However, factory tunes on late model vehicles, especially the 2019 new body style trucks, are designed so you cannot make power with bolt-ons. 5 HP is a lot for any 2019 engine with an air intake, but I guarantee if the vehicle doesn't get tuned and the same test is done a month later, the vehicle will have learned how to make stock power again. They have torque limitations and will still try to make stock power no matter what is changed about them. The factory ECUs are becoming harder to crack and tune; this is intentional by the manufacturers. They need it this way fort emissions, and don't want the software to be changed.

      I bought this intake for my 2016 Silverado 5.3L 6 speed 4x4. Combined with a Diablosport/Diablew 87 octane tune, it went from 15.4mpg stock to 15.9mpg. Stayed there for 3 years until I got new tires. Upgraded to Cooper Discoverer AT3's, filled to 35psi, and it jumped .1mpg. Been sitting at 16.0mpg for a year now. I feel like I have mild power gain, but that's probably because of the tune. I highly recommend this intake. Wish I could dyno my truck. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm getting about 5hp gain. So that's $400 intake, $250 tuner device, $150 professional tune. $800 for an extra .5mpg and 5hp is well worth it. And I can move between factory and custom tune using my device. Can't recommend enough.

      On "NEWER" cars from 2013 - 2021 you dont exactly need a CAI. Other than that it Depends on how restricted your cars intake is. You cant say that every CAI is a joke and a waste of money. Also stock air boxes with an aftermarket filter on certain cars will sometimes do nothing for your car or just add more problems to your car. Cars are getting more advanced everyday, once you add somthing like...idk a CAI to your 2021 bmw 3 series the ecu will adjust how the car runs due to the fact that more air is coming into the engine. Next time before you say CAI's are a joke, do some research before you talk plz. Thank you:)
