    One of the easiest way to make your motorcycle even faster, without increasing the horsepower at all. It's chain and sprocket kit time. Really cleans up the bike, too. Shaved some weight, looks sick, and geez, this thing screams now.

    The only thing I don't like about changing the chain out is having to tighten it up more regularly for awhile. But I love the 520 -1/+2 conversion on my GSXR600. Makes a world of difference and I never see the top speed anyway. No track days, sadly.

    I went up 2 front, up 7 rear. My main reason for that was because the only black rear sprocket I found was a 50T the original was 43T. I originally left the front stock, was fun but it's on a 125 lol so I up'd it by 2 to bring it back and slightly past stock gearing.

    Aluminum is not strong enough if your going to wheelie, i found out first hand on a 03 636, i only buy steel and my 11 gsxr 750 i have steel. I was gonna do the sprocket change as well but she was touchy enough in first gear and now i flashed the ecu no way.

      Motonosity but u dont ride like i do or like many and it could have been a very cheap sprocket but it was a vortex so, i do wheelies constantly and could have been do to to much slack in the chain etc, one thing love the vids been watching for 3 years and thank you commenting lol. And hoping to make a texas meet up.

    DID U KNOE? that the chain breaker tool can push the pin through without having to grind the head first
    Also fun fact from STG on the speedo healer: "Important Note: the 2017 - 2018 R6 uses the wheel speed sensors for the speedometer and odometer. When you change the gearing on this bike it does not cause the speedometer to become any more inaccurate than it was from the factory. Changing the size of the tires this would cause speedometer inaccuracy."
    Which explains why speedo was accurate

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider Před 6 lety

      I used a breaker bar, still was a right pain. After bending back the washer get a slightly smaller socket on the face of the nut, give it a few sharp hits with a hammer. It should help break the seal of the lock-tight and make it a little easier, if it still seems impossible keep shocking it with the socket and try again. Apart from that it's a fun job if you like working on bikes.

    Hello its good that your bike starts better now, to me it sounds like it running lean that's normal for EFI engines, that's why when you crack open the throttle it starts better, you might want to have a mechanic look at your Air Fuel Mixture running lean ruins engine a good smoke emission test could help a lot. compare the test result with your R1 if that bike runs better results should be close.

    Sir motonosity, if a rider like me who is 105kg rides a 150cc bike, just a big and tall guy, not really fat just heavy, but if i go 1tooth up on the rear, do i still lose topspeed or do i just help the bike go back to its normal torque and topspeed, cuz i really cant reach the redline on 5th with my weight. And i have other friends with thesame bike but lighter so they are much faster.

      Hey bro i see your comment is 1y ago so this won't help you much but hopefully together we may aid the next lad.
      DO NOT CUT THE CHAIN YET
      The very first thing you want to do is loosen the front sprocket before cutting the chain
      Because: you can use the rear brake to hold the sprocket in place (so you won't put any stress on your clutch or gears) while in gear or not.
