- footage from Joey's Dip, a spectacular section of the Tandragee 100 circuit, no other rider attacked this section as aggressively as Martin Finnegan did, he was simply amazing.... the end of this video shows his last time through the dip as he was tragically killed later on the lap... a horrifically sad ending to the weekends racing..
Watching this just makes you realise what a huge loss Finn's death was to road racing. I have never seen anyone handle a bike quite like he did. I was lucky to see him a couple of times at Skerries and Tandragee, and he was incredible. The sad thing is that he was so on the edge, it was horribly inevitable that he would lose his life as he did :o(
RIP Martin, you mad bugger......
Even worse that it wasn't his fault..
A terribly sad end to the race, obviously, but the footage is testament to Martin's remarkable talent; & a racer whose spectacular style made him the most exciting road racer myself & others have had the privilage to experience in the flesh. Gone but NEVER forgotten. Thanks grake78 for being there & recording the final few laps of the sport's brightest star, just before the darkness descended.
well said. fine words.
I had the extream pleasure of watching him race and win at the Skerries races in 2006. It was my first introduction in the flesh to Irish road racing and it made an impression that has changed my life. Started doing trackdays and a bit of racing here in Canada and love the lifestyle. Thank you Martin and all the others that raced that day! May God bless you and keep you and your family. With love from Canada, Paul Devlin & family
09:22 is ridiculous!! Those guys are light years ahead of all of us in their riding!!!.. :)))
RIP Martin Finnegan & thanks for the memories.
Man, that stretch of road makes the Isle of Man circuit look as broad and safe as Daytona.
RIP martin, terrible loss. shows what a hero you where in Fingal was at the funeral. it was colossal and justifiably so. Will always b 'King of the Jumps' gone but never forgotten RIP
Martin joins the long list of fallin heros to Irish road racing ,never to be forgotten,He was probably the most ragged edged rider out there,Skerries 100 will never be the same without him, RIP Martin ,Keep er lit
Martin was a gentleman with a great future in road racing...god speed..Martin
I drive bikes everyday but this is in a different league respect lads
to overtake someone in the air on such a fast part, has to big balls of steel.
Thats a cracking viewing spot. Im can feel the adrenaline just sitting here. There isnt a better sport in the world. Thanks for the memories, martin. RIP big man
Still remember watching him race. Legend that he was, gone but not forgotten
Massive respect!!! They love what they do so much they literaly dice with death every second of the race! If you didn't have that level of risk then it would be nowhere near as exilerating to watch and to take part. I ride a zx10r so have huge respect for every or of these men. And they are MEN!
Miss Martin... Not another before or since like him.... Was lucky enough to know him..
He was a gent too..

Motocross background he had.I remember being in his shop shortly before he died.he was joking with another fella about some recent incident where he thought he was a gonner.he really pushed it to another level.rip.

One of the best riders. He will be missed.
1 year today, sadly missed by us all
Hi grake78,I'm writing from Italy.I'm since many years a great fan of the motorcycle pure road races and I went to the Isle of Man TT in 2003 just to arrive there the day after the tragedy of Jefferies.Ulster road races are really special and yours is a video cable to grasp their essence.I was really touched to see the last passage of the hero Finnegan in that incredible dip.He was magically flying in the air towards his death. What speed do you thing the top riders do in that place?
170+ mph easily I would estimate ......Martin was a Maverick and Amazing Rider .....🙌☘
Some people have balls that grow bigger and I respect them. I am not ashamed to admit that this would make mine the size of peas. Hat's off and thanks Ireland for keeping true road racing alive. It's damn fun to watch...
sadly missed by gerry, elaine, luke, olivia and sarah@navan,our hero RIP martin
Martin seemed to be able to ride a bike better than most. He seemed to be able to fly a bike better than anyone. Bless him. Hes sadly missed.
