Bae logged in to just to raid IRyS but ended up stirring up chaos. But she also managed to band them together . Sasuga Hakotaro Nicely done and great ending you did there
Time for a crazy game theory. Bae ended up absolutely triumphing in this stream, and not for the reasons you might think. The key to understanding this is her name. While her family name of Hakos is clearly a play on the word "chaos" (and there was certainly a lot of that here!), it's her first name that's most relevant. Bae is short for Baelz, which, in turn, is obviously inspired by the name "Baalzebul", or "Beelzebub", which is normally referring to Satan, or the devil. But while the reference to Satan goes back to at least the New Testament period, the name "Beelzebub" is actually an old Hebrew word that translates to "Lord of the Flies". Now, if that name sounds familiar, it's because British author William Golding used the term as the title to his famous 1954 novel. In that novel, a group of young boys are marooned on a tropical island. While there is no technology, they are able to craft shelters and hunting tools to stay alive. But while there is camaraderie at first, over time the boys begin to form groups and start to turn on each other. Soon they completely descend into bestial madness and begin killing each other. The story even climaxes with the last surviving rational boy being chased by a whole group of hunters before they run into a military officer who was checking the island. The idea behind the novel is the contradictory impulses of humanity between the desire for civilization and the will to power. The more I watch this stream, the more I can't shake off the parallels. Bae comes in, and a group of players who are normally pretty chill suddenly descend into chaos. Mumei - who represents civilization - very quickly begins to go nuts, betraying and being betrayed, and finally succumbs to utter madness, with Ame listening to her laughing and commenting how crazy her neighbor is. When Mumei devours Bae's meat, you can almost sense the complete abandonment of civilized thought in her mind. And the others aren't spared this either. Even the resident sheriff, Calli, ends up going on the hunt in the end. Bae's running for her life while a group of crazed cannibals comes running after her, just like in the novel (though the similarities pretty much end there). And that's why Bae won. Not because she killed them all or looted their corpses. But because they were all inadvertently doing her higher will. They were all obeying the single, most intrinsic theme that Bae represents - The Lord of the Flies, which causes people to abandon reason for madness. I have to admit, that's pretty good for a first-time playing rat!
But that's just a theory... A HOLO THEORY. Thanks for speculating Fr tho I always thought there are good lores behind all their names but am too lazy to figure it out. Nice to know what Bae's name stands for which is real interesting regardless if that was intentional or not
Jesus Christ, the backseating and spoilering in the chat is insane. I honestly would not look at chat if I were the girls, maybe have a mod send me messages worth responding to. Really captured the fun and chaos of the night when all the girls were streaming simultaneously.
It kinda goes back to the idea of if someone shows you who they are believe it sort of thing. I suspect the nice persona is just that a persona she wears like a mask.
That was a fun day having so many of them playing Rust at once. I don't think we'll see that again though, unfortunately. Didn't seem like Bae was interested in playing again.
Ngl out of all the hololive designs, IRyS's design is really my favorite since it's reminds me of Hideo Minaba and Akihiko Yoshida's style, the skin tones and the rendering is so perfect it's almost like she was jumped out of an art book.
Too bad it seems like they'll be redesigning her (please do correct me if I'm wrong because I might be). I didn't like it that much when I first saw it, but now, it's definitely one of if not the best design in hololive

I love how IRyS's default scream is "Bae!" when it's Gura who was with her at 2:59
