Homemade Natural Perfume Recipe - free of nasty chemicals

- Making your own perfume is such an awesome thing to do - its personalised, more affordable and avoids nasty chemicals. I really love the smell of the natural perfume that i’m sharing in this video, and it’s so simple to make! I am obviously not a professional perfume maker - this just covers the basics of making your own perfume, and it works well for me :)
My Homemade Perfume;
- 30ml pure vodka -need about ~90drops essential oils to make 15%
- 2/3 tsp homemade vanilla extract = 55drops
- 12 drops frankincense www.iherb.com/aura-cacia-100-p...
- 4 drops vetiver
- 12 drops lavender www.iherb.com/now-foods-essent...
- 6 drops tangerine
Things to note;
- Use dark /not transparent bottle to keep perfume from going rancid over time or store in place that isn’t exposed to sunlight
- Make sure your lid is firmly attached to prevent oxidation
- The purer the alcohol for the base the better
- Test a little of essential oils on skin first to ensure no reaction.
- Mix in glass avoid metal or plastic.
- Add base oils then mid notes then high notes
- Bottle and leave for a few weeks to blend together before using
For perfume use; 15% essential oil. 1ml =about 20drops. So for 10ml base alcohol/oil = 1.5ml and 1.5x20 = 30 drops essential oil

I had a perfume blending lesson in Grasse, France last year where I learnt how to blend a harmonic perfume. First you need to be blind-folded and choose the base note you like. Then you choose a variety of body notes and drop some on test papers (the ones you get from perfume shops). You put the test paper together with your base, see if they go together. Then you blend your base and body together, and repeat the test-paper-process with top note.

I use essential oils in my bath and with facial oil, I thought it would be too hard to make perfume but you make it so easy to understand, will rush out tomorrow and stock up on my favourite oils and vodka!! PS I first got interested in oils years ago when I met a lady from Israel who used oils she smelled sooooooh good I had to ask her what she used, I think it was patchouli and rose so I will try that!
this is the first video i watch from you, Ela and i thank you sooo much for uploading it and for taking your time to write this desciption. it's very nice to know the exact dosage. that's what i was looking for. i wonder if they are the same for different essential oils? some are stronger than others so i guess you have to change it up a little for each one, right?

As a Perfumer, you NEVER use Vodka! Use Perfumers Alcohol Denatured. THAT is why you have a filmy, foggy look to your perfume...Research before you tell others how to do their own scents. I GUARANTEE your perfume will not only go sour, but the fragrance will fade very quickly! Trust me, I learned by THESE MISTAKES, and that is how we learn...

Any ideas as to how I can find out if an essential oil is a base, mid or high note? Additionally, how does oil vs vodka change the perfume recipes? And is there a difference in the ratios needed for oil, alcohol, or solid (oil and wax) perfumes?

Great video! How did you manage to get the essential oils to visibly blend into the vodka without separation?? I've actually tried this and they only temporarily blend if I shake the solution before each use.

The correct conversion for a solution is 30 drops per mL. If it's a suspension, it's 15 drops per mL.

how do i store it? should i let it steep in a freezer or shake and use?
Do you have another option other than a vodka because I have a sensitive skin I don't want to use vodka can you something else I can makes the perfume with
Sorry but the drops are too many for such a small bottle. The recipe you posted would be okay for a pint of alcohol, or two cups. Tangerine and other citrus oils can burn skin at those amounts, and cinnamon and cloves and nutmeg can burn skin at one drop per cup, so you have to use micro drops and dilutions. But it sounds like it would be a great perfume.

Not true I put 10 drops of Bergamonte oil on my arm to smell it never had burning problems Teatree in nostrils and ears non of the other E oils
Does it matter what type of alcohol you use, as far as a certain amount of proof?
The questions is how long it going to last? For extra tips dissolve all the oil in alfox 200 then it will turn into something called water soluble perfume and then mix vodka. For fixative use some strong oil:)
Is there any trick we can make top notes (i.e. lemon orange ) to last longer ?

Hello,just wondering if its possible to homogenize all these essential oils and jojoba oil ? i had made a perfume with essential oils and jojoba oil ;essential oils sit at the bottom.i do not want to use alcohol.my perfume is not homogenize and its kind of thick .Any suggestions ? Thanks

Help in mixing my oils I add alcohol and shake...later discover the oil went up and alcohol down.. only when you shake it you have normal blend... wandering wat happened
