    The icon for a wood turner is the gouge. The icon for a "*MASTER WOOD TURNER*" is the SKEW! Yes, I know one can't hollow out a form with a skew but that's not my point. The skew typically strikes fear with novice turners. Because of this they rarely become the master of it, as *Tomislav* definitely *IS*! 🥰

    A saying I use when demonstrating, from some unknown skew master, "The bevel should rub the wood, but the wood should not know it." I need to work a lot more with the skew...

      Thank you sir, never to late to start, skew is accually quite simple ,but what is a common thing is that people are afraid of it without proper reason.... I'll try to sort that in full video soon

    Tomislav,
    When you do these tool videos, could you mention the speed at which your lathe is spinning? Both on this one and the scrsper/burnisher video, it appears things are spinning above my comfort zone!

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  Před 6 měsíci

      Will try James, I'll try to remember to mention tool rest height as well as speed, this little spindle is turning at 1660rpm,I rarely go faster then then as I would have to change belt , and I'm too lazy🤗

    Great video, thanks for taking the time to share this with us. I will definitely be giving this a go. I have been making a few little Christmas trees out of scraps of pine and it is great for working on skew chisel technique…though making that very fine point will be a big step up for me. Looking forward to the tool videos very much.

    What do you think of the German type skews such as the Crown Tools, M2 Cryo, 3/4" Skew Chisel, Colwin Way Signature? I was wondering if they would be perhaps better for detailed and fine work. Thanks for your input.

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Interesting question, those conus skews are just different, they work Great but at least for me its different way of holding them, other then that they work just the same as any other skews apart from elipse.....

  • @MoleValleyMaker

    Very nice video. I really enjoyed making these, just posted my video. No idea about the new lathe now if it's not a Vicmarc or a Stratos. You did say it was not uncommon so maybe it's a Nova? Some of the Brands that Neureiter do are a bit more obscure...
